Moon Dashing

If you checking out my old thread *Boost Walking* you would have seen me upload a video showing a CPU Fox do something that looked like a Moon Walk.
For the past two weeks me and some buddies have been testing this, I now believe it is time for its grand RELEASE!
Everyone, I present to you the Moon Dash: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdrsdxrey0I

ps It is called Moon Dashing because Moon Walking is already taken and this is Brawl not Melee.

Here are the characters rankings when it comes to sliding:

Wanna see some tech skill?-
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=obXNADBzbto

What else can be performed with this tech

When you charge a Smash with out moving the analog you will slide while charging.

How this works

Basically you want to perform a Sticky Walk (running in place) and then try and perform a walk in the other direction. After the sticky walk end you will pivot and slide.
It actually get very easy after you get the hang of it.

How to perform a Sticky Walk

#1 Walking in one direction and then dashing in other direction.
#2 Craqwalking and then dashing in the opposite direction.
#3 Boost Walking and then dashing in a reverse direction.
#4 Taking a hit, getting out of hit stun and when you touch the ground dash in the direction you are coming from.

Final Notes

I would like to thank all of the people who contributed to this. The ones that excelled are PFANT, WoddyWiggins and Tommy_G. W/o them this would still be very confusing.

And BTW, I know for a fact this is not known. -_-

Man, how much time a day do you spend hitting random control inputs to find all of this stuff? @_@
Believe it or not I don't spend a lot of time. Mostly weekends and some on the week days (that sounded weird... about 6-7 hours a week).
I just understand Smash physics enough to where if I see anything that looks weird I know exactly what is going on and I debug (in my brain.. I do not hack) it and find something useful out of it.

This is one of them.
Also, you can do a reverse slide out of a fox trot. <,< just fyi

i dont see anything new....looks like your just dashing
Watch the first vid then the second vid.
In the second I am taking momentum from the Moon Dash to Sticky Walk again and repeat the AT.
Basically I was moving the analog back and fourth very very very fast... while making Fox do something cool.

Possibility for mindgame potential perhaps? Not sure though. How many attacking options would you have? All or just a few?

Ok now how do I perform a sticky walk? I like this idea and I like that Samus can use it.

Anyone that doesn't see any difference, watch his video when a lvl 9 CPU fox uses this against him. Mindgames and punish opportunities.

I don't get it just seems like your turning and dashing to me.
*sliding too

All, but some stop your slide.
and......another useless brawl technique.

;D
not so fast
This can be performed out of a Craqwalk AND a Boost Walk. This adds icing to the cake for ground spacing.
It also helps air to ground spacing.
It would be a wavedash if you were able to jump.

I listed how to do a sticky walk in the OP.

correct
So after you do the small dash and turn around, that's a slide correct? You're not holding the analog stick in the direction?
As soon as you can after the sticky walk try and walk in the other direction.

I don't know this craqwalkign stuff. Can you give me controller input:
"Walk right, jam the controller left etc..."

Cause I don't get the jog in place effect

In that case: Find a use for Ike's QD please. ;_; Besides the already known, worthless sliding effect afterwards, the one that goes extra far with counter.

I think you've gone overly specific in the input.

I don't see why this won't happen if you just.... walk pivot and enter the right sort of move.

This is what Link's pivot boost is, right?

Also, honestly.... your "tech skill" video... is embarrassing. For Brawl. I'm just putting that out there. It made me feel dirty and pathetic that I'm not playing Melee. :(

jump> lands backwards (Craqwalk)> hard left/right (inputs a sticky walk)> soft left/right (opposite of the original direction)
i don't understand the usefulness of this... it's brawl lol.. Sheild Dashing is just as, if not more effective.
*shield dashing= not as effective IMO
The reason why is, SD is only good for medium spaces. This can be used for small, large or medium because it works with normal walking and Boost Walking.
wow, this will be useful for spacing with good range moves actually, really, really, useful
^he is smart
*mod him

I like Ike
I always thought that sliding jabs after using that was good for distance approaches....
Saviors is going to find Brawl's WD...
*would sig but I already have one
Even if this is legitimate... Brawl's mechanics means you're just begging to trip... a LOT.
:( curse's to that man
It´s so old.

(1st of April 2008)

Edit : But the Link in the video, only walk, you sometimes run.
That would be a Boost Walk/Doopwalk/pivot boost/its other bunch of names
Different mechanics. In that video you are pivoting to get a boost of momentum.
This tech is using to momentum to cancel each other out while inputting more momentum as that it results in a slide.
Link and TL mains have been doing this for over a year now......good try I guess
^ above
^^^^^^the link one looks cooler
Boost Walking is pretty fun. This is like an accessory to Boost Walking though.

Dude, after you learn it try and do that. It's really freakin hard.
Oh, and Sheiks Chain/DACUS should be considered high tech skill. -_-

Melee= really advance do to the fact that momentum gains could be reaped from jump cancels.
Now I don't want any hype but I'm hoping that we find a Up B cancel.
It took me a while to understand how wave shining worked. lol Jump canceling the shine and then canceling the jump with a wave dash is just plain genius!

Speaking of which, we can jump cancel USmash right? So that means that every character has an USmash option out of shield (fear Sheiks tipper).

But yeah, I think I know how this works. If I'm right there might be a way to slide after each attack that you perform. IDK though lol, just thinking out loud.

Frisco you know
It's interesting but is it worth learning IYO for characters with a 2 or 1 * rating? If it's as difficult as you say, probly not is what I'm thinking. If Fox's slide is the biggest (and his wasn't really huge imo) then the others are probly barely noticable

Over half of the cast has a reason to learn this.
1's shouldn't at all
2's should
3's are foolish to not learn it
I know if I mained Fox I would be mastering this till I could do it in my sleep.

Really and truly, it is easier than DACUS. If anyone here has learned DACUS you know how much of a pain it was.
Well, this is well worth learning since it is easier. The only problem is that at first you get thumb tied, but then muscle memory kicks in.

Being the most hated
can you give the exact button inputs for a GCube controller W/O tap jump+R set as attack along with A?

also, can the slide be applied to fsmashes?

Woah woah woah, that is for Boost Walking. This is something different. lol

(in this example you are going right)
walk right> dash left (sticky dash)> walk right (and hold the analog)
You will slide.

Yes it can. IDK if every characters FSmash will cancel the slide though.
(I see what you Oli mains are getting at.... <,<)

Any move that forces movement (eg. MK's Dtilt moves you forward a bit) will stop the slide most probably.
