If you don't know what a banana slide is, it's where you throw a banana onto a slope at a certain angle so that it slides across the ground. I feel as though this technique is underestimated since it hasn't really been researched or looked into for use. It's great for poking shields, and it completely stops people who approach via the ground. (Olimar anyone?) It's also a form of approach against a reflector happy spacey, (Yes, it pokes every spacies reflector) AND it combos Weegee. The problem with it is that there are hardly any places where it's practically useful, so I've taken the liberty of delving into this glitch in order to find every spot where the slide is worth mentioning. These are ALL at least counter/banned stages.
Pokemon Stadium 1:
You're able to slide a banana across the houses base in the fire transformation if you stand in the bottom left corner of the trench in the middle of the stage and throw the banana to the right.
If you stand in the middle of the stage at the base of the slope rising to the right and throw the banana to the left, the banana will slide. You can poke under the windmill as well, which is pretty useful. You can banana slide on the windmill, but it's hardly practical.
Lylat Cruise:
You're able to get a good slide if the stage is completely tilted one way, and you stand on the steeper side of the ship on the middle of the wing or on the last line on the wing.
Yoshi's Island:
You're not able to perform a regular slide on Yoshi's Island, (except while the platform is tilting) but you can perform an "edge slide" in which you walk off of the stage and immediately throw the banana back onto the stage. You can do this on either side of the stage.
Pirate Ship:
You're able to banana slide the right side of the stage on the slope rising to the right when the ship is tilted.
You're able to banana slide on the rock that the ship crashes into if you stand at the right angle on the steep slope to the right. You can also get a slide if you stand on the very left edge of the rock and either normal or smash throw it.
Frigate Orpheon:
You're not able to banana slide the first transformation, but you're able to banana slide the two slopes in the second transformation quite well. If you stand in the middle of the stage just behind the first line on each slope, you get a very good slide. (The banana goes off the stage if you're at a good angle, so be careful if you don't want to lose your banana.)
Castle Siege:
You're able to get a good slide if you face the right and stand a little bit upward on the slope in the middle of the stage and throw the banana to the right (Again, be careful if you don't want to lose your banana since it WILL slide off if the angle is good enough.)
There are no slides on the second transformation, but the third transformation allows you to get a slide if you throw a banana across either slope on the left side of the stage while it's tilting in the necessary direction.
Delfino Plaza:
(Couldn't get area specific pictures)
You're able to banana slide on the edge of both beaches. You're also able to banana slide on the transformation with the two stairs if you stand about 1/4 from the top of a stair and throw. You can also banana slide on the brown roof if you stand at about the base of either slope and throw the banana. And last but not least, you're able to edge slide the transformation that looks like a stone platform with curved edges and water on each side.
PictoChat:
PictoChat's edge slide is AMAZING. Just try it, it works so well. You can even edge slide an instant thrown banana on the edge. It goes so far across the stage.
You're able to banana slide the top of the block pillar if you face towards the left and stand on the slope as far as you can go until you hit the wall stub and the clock drawing at the right angle.
Rainbow Cruise:
You can banana slide on the ship if you stand on the right edge of the ship on top of the jpropellers and throw it to the left (A normal throw gets you a slower slide that lands under the platforms while a smash throw gets it at the base of the slope on the right side of the ship.) You can banana slide on the slope right after the ship crashes as well. You can also banana slide on the tilting platform and the pendulum (but it's hard to perform.) Lastly, you can banana slide the slope at the last transformation that curves down and to the left.
If you have any input on this guide as is, or you think you've found another area to banana slide (that is also practical and at least a counter/banned stage) then simply tell me by posting or messaging me.
