What up guys. So, I know this kind of thread has probably been done a few too many times, but none stick around for very long. Besides, my thread serves a slightly different purpose. When I first joined smashboards, I wanted to look up the best Samus players so that I could learn from them and become better. I found this pretty hard to do since there wasn't a section that listed players' mains. Hopefully this thread will be used by newcomers, or even veteran players that want to become better with a character. So, post your main, and I will update this list. Keep this in mind, this is all for the purpose of increasing overall skill level, and our community.

Note: There has been some discussion on what one's main could be, and we (myself, A$, ballin) came to the conclusion that one's main is the character they feel they know the best as far as gameplay, combos, etc. goes. Also, if you're deciding whether to post your online vs. console main, post your console main please.

A lot of people have several mains... relatively few have one defined main in the same sense that you main samus. I'm as good with pika, as I am with falcon, and I play almost as much DK and Luigi.

Not really sure. I haven't been able to really play any good players yet, because I don't have a controller to use on my PC yet. I guess I would say I'm best with Kirby, but is only because he is really easy to be decent with.

I would rather use someone else, because I find it boring to play as Kirby.

Main: I main Falcon on Dreamland vs everyone and for any matchup not listed below outside of Kirby
I main Yoshi for the falcon, jiggs, Yoshi, Link, and Mario matchups
I main Samus for Kirby's/secondary samus otherwise, I am developing DK currently

if I was using an n64 controller, I would use DK.

The great Jigglypuff, Best jigglypuff in the world. Simple as that. She's so good I don't use her unless I have to, or if i'm playing someone to make them mad.


Jigglypuff - Against everyone
Mario - Against everyone
Luigi - Against everyone besides Pikachu
Falcon - Against DK, Falcon, Fox, Yoshi and Samus
Kirby - Against everyone
Ness - Against everyone

i updated the OP. I left many names out because many of you had more than one main and i couldnt decide where to put your name. you only get one shot! lol

i mean, i play with most of the characters as well, and im alot better with some of them than i am with samus, but for me, the definition of main is this:

1.) your favorite character
2.) the first character you picked up
3.) the character you feel most comfortable with playing
4.) the character you use the most

4. I try to use everyone equally, but on the "Use" thingie in the records, Falcon is used the most XD.

If Smasherx74 is the best Jiggs, then I'm the best Falcon lurlz.
I don't mind going Falcon against anyone.

Fox is my best character vs good players.

Pika/Kirby are my best vs mediocre players and noobs.

I also play a lot with Falcon, especially online.

And Yoshi is my favorite character to play.

I main Falcon, but I play several chars at a bit lower but still kinda similar level. Its more fun to use a lot of characters.

Hmm... Who you picked up first has very little to do with your main. I played only samus for the first 8 years of my smash career.

I main jigglypuff on keyboard (no shorthop + keyboard).

But on console, ironically enough, I think my main is Kirby, then Falcon, then puff. I rarely play Kirby though... but I do think he is my best character.

the criteria i set forth to determine your main is just the criteria for me maining samus. of course your main could be a character that doesn't fall into this criteria.

and, as compared to the other smash games, picking a main in this game is pretty hard because most of us use, to some extent, every character. i wanted the purpose for this thread to be about players more or less stating what character they would feel most comfortable with guiding new or less-experienced players through the many characteristics of that character. Or, creating a place where someone can come in, say a player that wants to get better with DK, look up a player under the "DK" title and watch some of their vids on youtube to learn the gameplay.

also, when online/console and keyboard/controller choices were made, i went with console and controller for reasons that may be obvious :p

To be truly honest, I do not know who my best is (I'm very good with about 4-5 characters, Falcon, Kirby, Fox, Pikachu, and Jigglypuff being my top 5 (written in order of them appearing on the character select screen). My best of the 5 is a toss-up between Kirby and Falcon (then puff, then Pika, then Fox).

My Falcon/Kirby usage is similar to Mango's usage with Falco/Puff in Melee.

yo yo, know me up there for Ness as my main! Why does no one like the Boy Wonder? He got a home run bat, a yo-yo, and that aint even his physic bag-o-tricks. He's fun as all hell.

His recovery is ballz...... thats all I gotta say about him man.

I play both Ness and the bird a lot. Ness is by far my best, so I guess that Ness would be my main. Is anyone else that plays a decent Ness interested in some dittos?

It's really difficult for everyone to narrow it down to one character. I guess the best question would be "Who are you best with?". I just play whoever I feel like playing at the time.
