Test your frame reaction time

In order to turn the results into frames in brawl you have to know there are 60 frames per second. This test calculates your reaction by milliseconds so what you do is:

Take your reaction time based on milliseconds (1000th's) and convert it to brawl frames (60th's) by dividing your milliseconds reaction time by 16.67.

Here is a calculator to save the time: http://www.calculator.com/pantaserv/makecalc

Also, the average reaction time is around 12-13 frames.

First try for me yielded 12.8something. Average seems to be 12.33, spread out mostly a couple MS lower than that with a couple high outliers and a couple low outliers.

For reference, 200ms is almost exactly 12 frames.

I managed to get it down to 199-174 (11.8something-10.44 frames) but those seem to be outliers. I notice I have a bad habit of blinking right before it turns green, is this normal?

The test is somewhat flawed; I noticed that the system had a pattern/timing for turning green. If you know that, you can definitely manipulate it a bit.

I took this awhile ago actually, probably 8-12 months or so. I got it to around 7-8 frames IIRC, and then after you know the timing you can get down close to 6-4 without trying too hard.

203.4 over 5 tries guess I wasn't as slow as I thought <_<

ok i tried it again, got 180.4 over 5 tries

212.8 3rd time

201.2 4th time (sets of 5)

191.6 5th time

190.2 6th time

avg I guess a little under 0.2 over 30 tries

ehhh guess my reflexes aren't as bad as I thought

You could be blinking as soon as it turns green on reaction, but it might seem like you are blinking before because you're recognizing that you're blinking during the eccentric phase of the blink which the box is green by that point. Can't be sure though.

13-14 ish frame wise. I have to agree with DMG tho, there does seem to be a bit of a pattern

^^^^@karcist

i just use my Peripheral vision on the spot and i'll never have a blinking issue. Its easier to see flashing changes of color in the peripheral imo then it is when your staring straight at it. Actually i think one would be more inclined to blink at the sudden change of color if you used your center gaze

True. Also your brain can condition itself to react to that particular test faster, without that conditioned reaction test being applicable to other things (like brawl).

I guess the most fair way to calculate it is by looking at the first or maybe second set of 5 tries.

I can't get it under 300. After 20 tries, my average time came out to be 374.8, or 22-23 frames.

I can't be that slow...

I think it has more to do with my keyboard. You have to apply quite a bit of force to make the mouse button click, and it's wireless.

My average was 223.0, first try, only 5, looking straight at it. Only tried twice, though; my second try I screwed up and got a 300.0 or something outlier, which pushed me up to about 260 average, lol.
So, I'm going to stick with 223.0 for me.
I guess I'm not THAT bad. :urg:

Edit - I was using a wireless mouse, by the way. :)

Go get Ally to do this, I think I know what his results would be.

I'm in love with this thing.

1st. 317

2nd. 362

3rd. 273

4th. 293

5th. 293

Average: 307.6

I'm on Wiinet btw, so i guess the control i am using to input clicks could be a variable. I'm normally a tad slow on the computer mouse.

Anyway, this is major good stuff, man.

Edit: Took it on my computer, got different results:

1st. 250

2nd. 266

3rd. 281

4th. 249

5th. 265

Average: 262.2

Guess it had something to do with the Wiimote's wireless :/

I average 170 after I'm done playing a FPS. 190 if I'm going in cold, and 210 if I've played an MMORPG for a few hours.

A lot of this has to do with your brain wiring when it comes to pressing the mouse button when you see the color change. I used to play a ton of FPSes when I was younger on the PC, so the reaction wiring is already there [especially after I've just recently finished a game.]

After 30 tries, my average was 269.77, or 16.18 frames. I was as slow as 350, and as fast as 217. >_> Lovely random range eh? Don't know if the laptop had anything to do with it though.

I didn't take the test, but I'd just like to mention that my reaction speed in Brawl is noticably heightened, because of adrenaline. My body responds to playing Brawl similarly to working out.

I also think that certain stimuli that we're used to (Say, air dodging a certain aerial or powershielding something we encounter often on reaction) affect your reaction time greatly. I'm not quite used to red boxes turning green, but I'm pretty sure I still did average, maybe slightly worse, than typical reaction time.

Work out, that's what you call it, right...

You should be like the rest of us and get addicted to it and post your 100th-time-taking-this-test score.

Im da bess, 9.766 frames :p

And to prove that wasnt a fluke,

Average over 10 tries = 164.5ms
Average over 25 tries = 168.84ms

Btw, its easier to get faster reaction times the more you do this in succession. I was doing it non stop for about 30 mins before I pulled off that streak (a few months ago).

DMG I'm also gonna call you out on that. 6-4 frames my a$$. Occasionally, like 1/30 tries Ill somehow manage a time <130ms which I feel I actually did react to but I cant believe anyone could repeatedly get within that 4-6 range. The leaderboards show some of the fastest people getting around 110-120 so I'll concede 7.00-7.99 frames is possible. below 6 is ridiculous though.
