This thread is meant to be a simple reference as to what stages to strike, ban, or CP against the cast. This is designed to compliment the current ongoing match-up threads.

The stages to be discussed are those outlined in the Unity Ruleset 1.3, in which you can strike 3 of the 7 neutral stages. The stagelist is as follows:

Starters | Counterpicks
Battlefield|Battleship Halberd
Castle Siege|Brinstar
Final Destination|Delfino Plaza
Lylat Cruise|Pokémon Stadium 2
Pokemon Stadium 1|Rainbow Cruise
Smashville|Frigate Orpheon
Yoshi's Island (Brawl)|

Please post your opinions on what to strike, ban, CP, and what CP you think the opponent will ban. Assume the opponent will not switch characters (unrealistic, but for the sake of discussion go with it).

To search for a specific character, simply press Ctrl-F and type the character's name. The characters are listed in the order of the Tier List v5.

Please post your opinions on any characters you can and I will update the thread. If a character's choices are disputed, discuss the dispute here and I will update the thread once a consensus has been reached.

The "Runner Up" options are for if there are disputes as to what stage should be in the given category.

This is what I most commonly do. Also, it depends on the person/if I'm striking first. I usually don't strike YI because I don't mind it that much, but I would strike it if I didn't tihnk my opponent would strike it as to not waste my strike.

Thank you SO much for this thread. I hope it will evolve and get better over time.
Taking IC's to RC is really smart, it helps us way more than it helps them.

P1, thank you very much for that post, as that is a great start for discussion. If anyone disagrees with the stages listed in the OP, please say so.

And I agree about RC vs MK, it's really not as bad compared to others.

If they master chaingrabs at high level, they can chaingrab you in little spaces, and put you in kill percents in less than 10 seconds, so, Ranbow doesn't solve all the problems, but is a good choise.
I'd say that Frigate, PS1 and PS2 mess their changrab too. What about lylat?

About Rainbow vs MK, normally is not that bad compared to others, but what if the MK plays M2K low style (get the lead and running away the whole match...)??

I'll still win. RC da bess. People will probably disagree with some things in that list as I NEVER put RC on my ban list, I put a lot of brinstar, and I probably put more halberd that what people agree with aside from that I think most people will agree most of it.

I agree with a lot of that list. I usually neither ban RC, but it's because I always ban Brinstar xD
I mean, if you think "in which match-up Brinstar has advantage for Diddy...?"..... I only could think that maybe vs Falco. BTW, I think that you never should counterpick FD vs Falco, he can camp you so hard there, and vs him you always need some plattform, to give you more options to avoid his chaingrab when you are <40%...

He gets really anoying with his laser, and his Down B gives him control over bananas really easy. Which Falcos have you played? Do you have vids? If you wins easily vs them in FD, then they are not really good Falcos...

Lol, I have experience vs Kismet's falco who at the time of me playing him was considered 3rd best falcon in the country. He doesn't play him much anymore though and plays MK more. Lol at down-b getting control over bananas easily. That move is super easy to predict and punish. His lasers? I already said jump over them if you're far away. If you're midrange he'll either side-b away which is super easy to punish with an OoS banana toss or down-b which is also easy to predict and punish with a side-b. How would BF be any different? It's the same thing except with platforms and smaller. His lasers go completely horizontal, lasers don't change that. Platforms will just get in the way of banana combos and ruin your momentum.

I keep my words, If you consider easy play Falco in FD, then I'd like to see which Falco are u playing with, because he prob is not that good. Like I said, he can chaingrab you easily in FD, also, get control of your naner if you have two on stage, and he can approach with lasers in the air, jabs cancel (this *****...)...

But, all that I said only works if the Falco main is good, and also can read you. If he sucks and you read him all the time, then you will **** him even playin with one hand...

I'm not saying he is not good, it's just that the way P1 says it, make it sound like Diddy ***** Falco everytime everywhere, and i think it's not that easy...

I never said that, the MU is 50-50 IMO. Way to go assuming things and stuff. also, Kismet took a game off of gnes and took him to last stock game 3 (or maybe it was game 1 I don't remember). Just sayin'

why not? Once you make them slip on a banana then it's like you don't even have to think about how and where you throw your bananas because they're easy to get desynched after that. No platforms= the bananas just fall right next to them and nana is ******** as **** and just keeps slipping.

I agree with taking ICs to FD. It's almost the same with every neutral stage, and if you are above them in a plattform, their Uair increase your damage % too much. And naner mess with nana too much, like P1 said, she is just too stup**..

About Falco in FD, you said something like: if he do this, you do this, and if he do this other thing, you just do this other thing, and that's it (****), no matter if you are in FD. And, like I said, in FD Falco (a good one) can camp you so fuc*** hard, and you need plattforms to help you avoid his chaingrab when you are under 40%. A good Falco can start his chaingrab out of his jumpin lasers (when he jumps and fire two lasers, the second one close to the ground with no lag), out of his jab cancel,... and in FD you are too exposed to this, and a good Falco have many tricks to make it work. That's why I said all that.

WTF @ needing platforms to avoid CG...I know what a good Falco can do. Kismet is (was) an amazing falco player, not to mention like 3 other people picked up Falco in GA because of him and I play them a lot. Yeah I said that, but you have to predict them in order to actually do it. They could do side-b or down-b in both cases, but if you predict wrong then you have go do it again. The only time a character should be camping a platform to avoid the CG is if their recovery is bad and can't recover from it which ours is not. If we camp on platforms then we're just going to take about the same amount of damage from a CG as usual so it won't matter except that we're not in a position to get gimped and if you camp on the platform then you can't put much if any damage on him. So he basically gets a free 40% where as if you face him on the ground then you can at least put damage on him even if he does get a CG on you. Plus you have bananas. Just stay by a banana the whole time and you'll be fine or keep one in your hand all the time so that way it might fall out of your hand. I don't see how you're more exposed to a CG on FD. FD is a larger stage than BF so you're going to be closer to him on BF than on FD. You shouldn't even be next to falco anyway because his CQC game is so good, a mid distance is the best. When you're at a mid distance he will either phantasm away or try to use a reflector on the banana which both are easily punishable. Really not that hard. Also, Kewlumba sucks and doesn't have any good Falcos anyway, the Falco's I play are a lot better than yours so stop saying I'm playing bad Falcos when the Falco's I play were considered 3rd best and take games off of top level Diddy players.

Battlefield is one of the best stages to fight Snake, MK, Wario and ICs. It is also overall, one of Diddy's best neurtal stages.

I don't like fighting Snake on there because of all of the platforms he can use for stage control. I'd rather be on Smashville versus MK and Wario, but I like Battlefield for IC's.

player 1 is pretty much right in falco vs diddy. falco basically has a flowchart he has to follow, it's just your job to make him follow it in what you want to punish him with. you can throw bananas under him when he lasers, keep a banana in your shield to punish his phantasm with a glide toss oos and bait reflector. diddy's side b is amazing in this matchup because if falco guesses wrong then he'll get punished hard. it's definitely even and falco does not **** diddy lol

EDIT: wtf diddy doesn't need to platform camp falco either he has bananas

You can get the lead and force him to approach you on the platforms. Diddy kong may not be the best in the air, but he is a hell of a lot better than snake is. Punish him when he throws you his vary predictable and laggy aerial moves. this MU on this stage is mostly going to be played on the platforms.Against Wario and MK, battlefield gives you a safer place to hide when the opponent is coming at you from the top.

Lol

About Falo (again xD) I didn't said that the plattform was for you to use it staying there and watching they way Falco gets a free 50% over you. Plattforms helps you because they let you being random and force Falco aproacchin from different angles, and you can go down the plattform when he goes up an punish. This way you can punish him a lot.

FYI, Kewlumba has great Falcos.
This is one random friendly of a good Falco here:

I'll get you serious vids of National tournament in a couple of weeks.
BTW, here are players that could compete with USA top 10 ;)

I two stocked Havok's Snake on Battlefield using this strategy so I must have been doing something right.

@vega...English bro. I did not understand any of that due to the terrible grammar.

@Jebus. Why the **** would Snake approach from the platforms? Why would any character approach from platforms? That is the stupidest thing you could do in practically any MU.

Oh and good Snakes don't just "throw" their aerials out. The main 2 you need to watch out for is nair and bair. Sure you can throw them out, but if Snake is just "throwing" them out and being predictable with them then they're bad in the first place.

He's not approaching from the platforms, he's approaching you while you're on the platforms. You have to get a decent lead to do this though. There is no other way for him to approach other than his aerials. Also, They don't just throw out the aerials, you bait them with wave bounced peanut cancels.

Usmash, Utilt, he can cover one with a c4, not to mention grenades being the biggest thing, if you're in the air doing peanut cancels then he can predict your air dodges. Depending on the aerial and how he spaces it I'm pretty sure they can be unpunishable considering the large amount of shield stun they put you in. Also, if you're back is to the edge of the platform and they push you far enough you will go into your edge slip animation which will **** you over in this MU. The biggest thing is still grenades though, there's no reason why the Snake can't just spam grenades until you get hit a bunch.

You make it seem like he can do all these things at once. If he throws grenades at you, wait for a pattern and punish or just avoid them by going to the nearest safe platform. If you cancel the popgun perfectly, there will be no air dodge or ending lag.

sorry I can't wavebounce peanuts while avoiding grenades perfectly for 8 minutes, I'll go practice that in training mode right away.

Snakes don't always have a pattern and btw the initial hit of the nade also does damage which can add up in the long run. He can put a c4 on a platform covering one of the platforms then just throw nades at you. I was going under the assumption that you not completely brain dead, but I won't make that mistake next time; if you're not air dodging then you can't avoid the aerials by just wavebouncing peanuts. Put c4 on platform, charge Usmash, pull out nades, he can do all of this at the same time.

To avoid the grenades, all you have to do is not stand directly above him. The point of this is not to time the snake out. You just want to force him into the air or force him to make mistakes.
