Intro:
Why is it that with the obvious support competitive gaming is recently getting, it has yet to truly hit the mainstream?
It's due to companies like EVO and MLG that spend the time competing against each other for attendance and backing,
rather than working together toward a common goal, toward improving the community, toward growing.
It's sad to say, but at present time Smash is reaching a similar stagnation.
Years have past since Brawls release, and I feel like the possibility for a true co-existence
for the Brawl and Melee communities has sadly been neglected.
The majority of discussions at competitions that contain both games usually
delve into poop talk about the other's game, or the players.
This is a mindset that I feel is strangling both communities on the whole.
It only upsets me because I've seen just what this community's capable of.
At Apex 2012, Georgia totaled their car on the way up.
The community stepped up and raised a great deal of money to help the cause.
Just this month, a fellow smasher's house met an unfortunate fate.
The community through nothing more than their own good will has been stepping up to help as best they can,
even if they've never met.
It's acts like these, and I'm sure countless others, that make me wonder;
if we can help save these people from such unfortunate times,
why can't we work together to save our own community?
I've heard many people say they just want to wait for Smash 4.
Like it's some savior that will come and lead us all
to a promised land filled with 300 man competitions,
weekly.
Well that certainly sounds like an easy thing to do,
just wait and hope the next game works out better.
But there's a team of devoted smashers already hard at work,
bringing you the potentially most balanced
smash game that we may ever come to play.
And best of all, it's being designed, and maintained, by US,
the community itself.
We know Nintendo hasn't done the best job at listening,
but here we have people ready, a game that's ready....
Sort of.
Please bare in mind, my goal with this is NOT just to have one giant tournament. I truly hope this just becomes a new trend.
The Belief
I truly believe that if you like Melee, or you like Brawl, you will like Project M. This isn't a random guess, it's coming from everyone I've played it with.
So I'm going to do a couple of things with this belief.
I'm hosting a Brawl and Melee tournament, which will also be featuring what I believe to be the debut of a Project:M competition. I understand that it is a new game, and still under some development. Bearing that in mind, the tournament for Project: M will be more or less FREE.
Let me explain.
Entering EITHER the brawl($5) or melee($5) tournaments requires you to pay a door fee ($5). Paying this door fee will automatically get you put into a P:M tournament bracket. I've spoken with the owners of ZP and they've agreed to allow $1 from the door fee to be added to the P:M pot.
So whether or not you've put in practice, or even downloaded the game, this will at the very least allow every player attending to get their feet wet a little bit.
Maybe even find a character they enjoy.
- In the following post, you will be able to find tons of information regarding Project M, a really cool trailer, how to download it, and some information on the characters.
- Every weekend (most likely Saturday afternoons) leading up to the tournament, I'm going to personally stream Project:M. The third post down will contain information on how to find it, as well as videos of past streams. These streams will contain not just footage of the game, but I will be doing Character Showcases, showing off how elements of melee and brawl work together, showing off the new stages, and even discussing a tentative rule set (which I will take suggestions for if you watch the stream).
Where:
5450 South State Road 7, Hollywood, Florida, 33174 Suite Number 41.
Zero Ping is found on 441, between the main streets of Stirling Road, and Griffin. Those are two exits off of I-95. Take I-95 (south or north respectively) Exit off of Stirling Road and head WEST from I-95. When you hit 441/State Road 7 (its the same street) Make a right so you should now be heading NORTH. Go down until the light where the Seminole Hard Rock Casino Parking Garage is on yoru left: Lucky Street. Turn right and go down until you see a building with "ZERO PING" on the Black windows on the corner, turn right into that parking lot.
MONEY STUFF:
Door Fee: $5 (also gets you a spot in Project M tournament)
Brawl Singles: $5
Melee Singles: $5
Doubles for given game: $10 (5 per person)
Payout:
All events will be a 55/25/15/5
Schedule:
10:00AM= Doors Open/Free Play/Setup
11:30AM= Registration of singles events/Door Fee Due
12:00PM= Brawl Singles/Melee Singles/P:M Singles Starts
Doubles
Because this tournament is going to be running multiple games at the same time, due to time constraints, Doubles is ONLY going to happen if we get at least 5 full setups PER game. Trust me it's not as bad as it sounds. I'm already getting a lot of the TV's covered myself, as you'll see below. So let us know if you can help out in anyway.
Assuming we meet the required number of Setups, doubles will start during the grand finals of singles for a given game.

Accommodations:
ZP has agreed that if we reach a TOTAL of just 40 people, collectively between brawl/melee/PM, we could use the computer room for setups as well, giving us TWICE as much space to hang out, be comfortable, and smash.
I will NOT be separating the different games into the different rooms, it will all be integrated.
ZP also has beverages for sale for $1, water/sodas/whatever. If you have a special request for type of drink, announce it here and I'll talk to them about getting it.
There's a food store 2 minutes walking distance from ZP, a McDonalds/BK/Subway a drive down the street, and anything else you want, I can give you directions for in person.
Housing:
I will be providing housing for up to 8 people comfortably. Anymore than 8 people I will have to charge a small fee, since I would than have to use other parts of my house, not just my room.IF YOU CAN HELP WITH HOUSING:
Let me know and I'll put your name/contact info here.
IF YOU NEED HOUSING:
Let me know and I'll put your name/contact info here.
I'll try to keep this as organized as possible to help those in need.

I want to post the cars willing to travel here, as well as the people in need of a ride.
If you CAN drive, let me know where your coming from and how many seats you have available in your car.

first three stages banned by each player are banned for the set. The remaining 5 stages will be
open for counterpicks after the first round is played.
3. Resuming from there, striking will then continue until the first-round stage is selected.
4. After the first round, the losing player will select a counter-stage from the remaining choices,
then the winning player will select his character, then the losing player will select his character.
