Combo Breaker - Using Straight Lunge / Rising Uppercut to interrupt jab combos

Straight Lunge has frame 1 heavy armor and Rising Uppercut has frame 1 intangibility . (i think thats how it goes)
The point of this thread to show jab combos as well as a couple other multi-hit moves that are escapable without the help from DI-- not to mention they act as counters.

Some other moves like Nair (frame 2), jab (frame 1) can also be used.

Straight Lunge (SL) is typically unsafe meaning that your opponent can punish you, but you if you wanna mix it up go ahead.

Dash Attack

  • RU works.
  • SL works. Unsafe- Luigi can shield and punish

Down B : Inconsistent- % dependent, ground/midair dependent

  1. Grounded

  • Nair : 0 ~ 35%. Becomes a losing trade at a few percents higher
  • RU : 0 ~ 55%. Starts becoming inconsistent as the hitstun lasts longer in between hits. If Mac doesn't touch the ground at all before the final hit, it can still work up to 70%.
  • SL : 0 ~ 65%.
2. Mid-Air (Luigi starts the attack while in the air)​
  • None :sick: If Luigi does a down b as he lands, its possible to tech the fourth hit.

  • SL works. unsafe
  • Airdodge works. Unsafe
  • Jolt Haymaker can punish if Mario does a sh-dair with forward momentum and it doesn't trap you fully.

1 - 2 Jab [Outer hitbox]
  • SL works. Safe if and only if Dedede does the spinning hammer combo 0 ~ 50%
  • RU works. Unsafe- hitbox does not connect
Jab Combo Finish (spinning hammer into swing)
  • SL works.
  • RU works. Unsafe- hitbox does not connect.

Interesting. It seems like most of these are just infinite jab combos, but it is interesting to see that Shakunetsu, Limit Climhazzard (what? Seriously?!) as well as Doc's Tornado and Mario's Down Air. Probably should have realized that before, but it's help info.

you can usually get out of shiek's fair strings with rising uppercut...but it really risky if the shiek reads it

also can you absorb finishing touch with straight lunge since it only does 1 damage?

yes this thread is just single multihit moves that you can react out of and interrupt.

strings and other multi-attack combos are not included because that would require too much testing and also factors in things like DI, fresh/stale, rage.

example, you get caught in a jab- you can react to it and press B to activate straight lunge. your opponent is committed to that move unlike say sheiks fair string

link's 1-2 jab > Up B kill setup can be up b'd out of safely.

if you guys know any other simple kill setups like this let me know so i can test it
