Help Swapping Characters

I'm trying to make it so that every character in the game is PM's Bowser. I've been testing this using Captain Falcon. I've copied everything from the koopa fighter file (including custom skins) and pasted/renamed them appropriately in the captain fighter folder, as well as copying/pasting/renaming the ft_koopa.rel to ft_captain.rel, but my game keeps crashing while loading a stage. Am I messing something up or is it just not possible?

Why waste your time like this? You can probably just change the Custom CSS code so that all slots will be Bowser,

Would this make it so the characters in Subspace are also all bowser?

If you choose them on the CSS, yes, but if they skip the CSS and just spawn. No.
