Disclaimers ***important, please read***

* Cash required for all entry fees. No exceptions. if you do not have exact change and change is not available at the signup desk, you will be expected to obtain change yourself. I will however bring some change with me for use at the event.

* No modern flat-screen TVs will be used for this tournament. Only old-style lagless Cathode-Ray Tube (CRT) TVs will be accepted. The reason for this is that most new TVs have a lot of visual lag, and advanced tech such as wavedashing and L-Cancelling requires very precise timing which is completely thrown off by the lag. That said, don't feel like you have to bring a TV at all, as we have lots of extras.

========== Ruleset: Project M ==========

* For the first match of a set, only Starter Stages are available for play. Stage striking will be performed in a 1-2-1 manner, with the first strike determined by Rock Paper Scissors. Alternatively both players may agree on any stage.

* For each match after the first in the set, the winner of the previous match will ban THREE stages, and then the loser selects from the remaining Counterpick Stages. Alternatively both players may agree on any stage.

* For doubles, Team Attack is on and stock sharing is allowed. Remember that in Project M, Attack+Special, not the Pause button, is used to share stocks from your teammate.

* Custom music is allowed as long as it’s not too distracting, but please notify the TO if you have any modifications outside music.

* Giga Bowser is banned.

* Please also note the additional rules that apply to all games at the bottom of this post.

========== Ruleset: All-Star Battle ==========

* What is All-Star Battle you ask?! It is a new mode added in Project M that allows each player to pick a separate character for each stock! When one character dies, the next will spawn, and so on. If you pick Random in this mode, it will select a new random character for each stock! (you only need to pick Random once, and it will do the rest... this is known as going Full Random).

* All rules are the same as Project M Singles unless otherwise noted.

* One player must use the P1 controller slot (this is to prevent crashes).

* Each player must pick four unique characters for each match

* If any player so chooses, he or she may simply go full random instead.

* If two players agree before the match, they may both go full random for the entire match... however no one will be forced to go full random.

* If one player did not see all the picks, and asks what characters the other selected, the other player must answer in detail. HOWEVER, if this is the first match, both players must select their character lineup before discussing.

* When picking/counterpicking characters, the full lineup must be selected again.

* Any changes in lineup are accepted, even just the order, as long as they are selected at the appropriate times according to the rules.

* If any mistake is made while picking the lineup, or if either player is unsure their lineup is correct, please back out to the previous screen so that both players can pick their lineups over again to make sure.

========== Ruleset: Melee ==========

* Starter Stages (first match of a set):
Battlefield
Final Destination
Dreamland
Yoshi's Island
Fountain of Dreams

* Counterpick Stages (added on remaining matches):
Pokemon Stadium

* For the first match of a set, only Starter Stages are available for play. Stage striking will be performed in a 1-2-1 manner, with the first strike determined by Rock Paper Scissors. Alternatively both players may agree on any stage.

* For each match after the first in the set, the winner of the previous match will ban ONE stage, and then the loser selects from the remaining Counterpick Stages. Alternatively both players may agree on any stage.

* Buffer set to off.

* Please also note the additional rules that apply to all games at the bottom of this post.

========== Ruleset: All Games ==========

* Rules for all games:
4 Stock Battle
8 Minute Timer
All Items set to Off and None
Team Attack On

* All tournament match sets will be best 2/3, until Winners Finals, Losers Finals, and Grand Finals which will be best 3/5.

* Set Procedure: Each player will choose their character, double blind pick is available by request. Players will then strike from the starter stage list given, and play on the agreed upon stage. For each subsequent game, the winner will announce their stage ban(s), the loser of the previous game will choose the stage, the winner will chose their character, then the loser will chose their character.

* At any time within the stage selection process, both players may elect to agree on any stage on which they both wish to play, and hold their next match there instead.

* Dave's Stupid Rule is in effect: A player cannot counterpick a stage on which he has already won during that set. Both players may however agree to ignore this rule at any time.

* Pausing during a match, unless approved by the other player, will result in the loss of one stock for the player who pressed the pause button.

* Quitting out of a match before it is over will result in a loss for the player who quits.

* If time runs out, the person with the highest number of stocks left wins. If the players have the same number of stocks when time runs out then the player with the lower % is awarded the victory. If the % is equal as well, play a 1 stock 3 minute match, same characters and stage.

* If the match goes to sudden death due to a self-destruct move the player who initiated the move is awarded the win; otherwise the player displayed as victorious by the game is determined as the winner. The best example of this is Kirby's neutral B offstage.

* In the event that the game crashes or the TV/Wii/Gamecube loses power in the middle of a match, that match will be restarted from the beginning with the same characters and stage. If a player uses a known glitch to intentionally crash the game or otherwise prevent the match from finishing that player will lose the match and may be disqualified at the Tournament Organizer's discretion.

* No excessive stalling. This is up to the judgment of the TO, but in general, stalling is considered making the game unplayable to artificially run the timer of a match (ie excessive infinite shine stall, peach bomber stall, luigi ladder).

* No coaching during a match. Consulting someone between matches is allowed as long as the match finishes within the two-minute time frame between matches.

* Both players may agree to any rule or stage outside the tournament ruleset; this does not include extending time limit between games.
