In the possibility that Sakurai sticks to his design philosophy and makes Bayonetta as authentic to her games design as possible. How do you think he will balance dodge offsetting, (assuming it's in of course). If it makes it into the game as is. Bayonetta will become an actual TAS video. I tried discussing this with people on reddit and you can guess how that went haha. In case anyone doesn't know. https://youtu.be/sirNAxeHN9w

It's safe to assume Dodge Offset isn't in this game since otherwise it'd most likely have been brought up as a point when Sakurai detailed either the Bullet Arts or Witch Time. The mechanic is kind of useless in a game like Smash where opponents who won't flinch to your attacks is rather minimal, and although it could have been used for a free-for-all, Witch Time only slows down the opponent who hits you which means it's easier to just reset your combo after that.

Most likely not because Bayonetta would have to be able to cancel out of every attack animation in the game with a shield, roll, dodge, and/or her Down B. In her games, the entire reason you can do Dodge Offset in the first place is because nearly all, if not all, attack animations in the game can be cancelled by dodging. In a game like Smash, having that ability would likely screw with the balance of the game, so I can't see it happening here.

Absolutely impossible to implement without breaking the game

In the Bayonetta games what this does is allow you to string out Wicked Weaves after dodges. But WWs are just smashes in this game and are accessible on command.

Maybe her attacks will be cancelable with a dodge though! But that's probably the only shadow of the mechanic we'll see in this game.

Even beyond the fact that implementing Dodge Offset in Smash would make her broken beyond repair, as faithful as she was made, I doubt something that specific would be implemented. The technique is only really known to the upper echelon of Bayonetta 1/2 players who legitimately want to get good at the game; it's basically the wavedash of Bayo. More than likely it just wasn't brought up at all.

While it would be cool, it would break the game to a level a big massive nerf would be necessary.
The Adv. techs in bayo are a main resource to never breaking a combo or restarting Combo points, which in smash are not necessary, Dodge offset is the main way to get a pure platinum score, since this is smash, I dont think they will add it.

OR!.. make everyone have dodge offset XD
just imagine, mario shooting fireballs while rolling, peach throwing turnips while rolling, majestic!

Dodge Offsetting has little use in a game like Smash. In Bayonetta it was made to keep combo strings intact while maintaining a defense and in turn create huge point multipliers. Since most of Bayonetta's moves seem to be part of her strong attacks, smashes or the standard combo.
