Sonic Homing Question

Sorry i couldnt find the FAQ of this sectio, so if wrong place please move this thread.
I was wanting to know more about Sonics Homing Attack. I havefound it to be on of his best moves. How ever it has very iffy lock ons and want to know how to fix it. Why is it that sonics homing attack cn go great distances forward and up but cant handle strait ahead in the way computors? If so is it possible to get a diagram of sonics lock on range?

Do you mean when his HA misses his target?

Sometimes the opponent can dodge your HA if they are mobile enough due to the HA not being fast enough to catch up.
