My recommendation for novices is generally Candito's Linear Program, specifically the strength/control variant. You can check it out online, but its essentially and Upper/Lower split. I think it's a fantastic mix of strength and size. Regarding protein shakes, do you have any reason? In terms...

For more information you should read "The Bulgarian Manual" by Greg Nuckols. It's free and contains a ton of information on high frequency, high intensity training. The short answer to your question is for almost everyone it will be massively effective in the short term, and potentially long...

Did a mock meet recently and hit a 285 squat, 185 pause bench, and 350 deadlift @ 143 lbs bodyweight. Pretty happy with progress lately. Next meet is scheduled for August 1 so hopefully I'll be totaling in the 900s by then. Just started Candito's 6 week program. Yikes. How'd that happen?

I was supposed to do 3 sets of 4 paused deadlifts with 201 pounds today, but was really itching to work up to a heavyish pause deadlift single. Decided that 251 seemed like a good number to aim for. Ended up hitting it for a double, thought about going for a third. Really happy with how my...

Oh yeah definitely nothing wrong with doing both.

Conventional deadlift vs Sumo deadlift Sumo = more quads, less lower back Conventional = more hamstrings and more lower back For the general athlete/gym-goer I think the conventional deadlift provides more to you that the squat does not. Sumo deadlifting has more overlap with the squat, in my...

Gonna try to consistently put videos of my training on youtube once a week. I think it can be a nice way to keep a video log of things you've done. And videos give an unforgiving view of your form so you can see how it improves over time...

Thats a surefire way to put lots of pressure on your rotator cuff and lead to shoulder pain. I'd definitely try to fix that.

I'd take a video and post it here/elsewhere. There a certainly subreddits related to lifting that could likely give you an in depth form check. Bodybuilding.com is also a good resource for form checks (Im preferential to the powerlifting section). Example of (bad) flared elbows...

If its muscular pain as in soreness, thats fine. Any other pain is not. The most common cause of shoulder pain from bench pressing comes from flared elbows. Your elbows should be tucked at around a 45 degree angle or more to prevent stress on the rotator cuff. Posting a video can certainly help...

Oh cool this thread is active again. Been doing a belt less training cycle, probably will continue belt less for the next couple of months and then finally put the belt back on. Likely doing my next powerlifting meet in April, although just doing it to get some more meet experience as I'm more...

No problem man. Chalk should definitely help a lot. Wish my university's gym allowed it.

Hey man I'm also a 148 raw powerlifter. What fed do you compete in? Anyways, I've been running Candito's linear program for the past few months and it's been going really well. You have some really solid numbers for 148 so I'm not sure how feasible the progression on this program will be for...

Hit a 335 block pull off a 4 inch block today. Hit 350 afterwards which is also on my channel but the form was quite bad and it looks like it might have been hitched as well. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cgQWu7L4tf8 Never block pulled prior to this but this was my first time handling over...
