Transcending Barriers: Transgender Women in Smash

I'm not really sure what you mean here; I think initiative was definitely taken with the Smash Sisters event and was successful at that. Simply encouraging people with words is what we've been doing in the past and while it's better than nothing, it clearly hasn't had the same kind of impact...

Transcending Barriers: Transgender Women in Smash

Making it the world we live in is part of the goal of Smash Sisters. I don't think anyone wants to permanently have to have girls-only events (and again for the record since others seem to be confused, Smash Sisters was a crew battle, not a segregated bracket; many of the Smash Sisters...

Transcending Barriers: Transgender Women in Smash

In a tournament completely decontextualized from the rest of society this would be a valid point. "We're all gamers" is a nice platitude that we'd all like to believe but it's not put into practice in reality by some people, and this causes others to not feel as welcome. Girls and guys just...

Editorial: TGC 6 and 3 Stocks - The Whole Story

Going from 30 to 32 setups would save perhaps roughly 30 minutes, just by doing (30/32) * 8 hours (time it took to get to the point where there were fewer than 30 sets to call at a time) = 7.5 hours. I think that's probably still a generous estimate. The 3 hour estimate is based on a scenario...

Editorial: TGC 6 and 3 Stocks - The Whole Story

The statement that "as little as 2 more setups being available could have saved the event 3 hours of time" is not correct, because that's based on the time in each round of the bracket taken strictly having to be an integer number of waves: applying the ceiling function after every round is...

Vectoring: The replacement to Directional Influence in Smash 4

Uh huh, and I'm saying the description for hitstun shuffling says you "shift" in a direction which is only indirectly true as a result of a different trajectory, and I think it makes more sense that Nintendo is imprecisely describing vectoring here as opposed to describing SDI because it's an...

Vectoring: The replacement to Directional Influence in Smash 4

Hitlag is the extra frames where characters' animations seem 'frozen' when a move hits. Hitstun is the time that a character is unable to action after a hit lands. Here's a cool video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i2m-_SuUWGI

Vectoring: The replacement to Directional Influence in Smash 4

Because you have to input it while in hitstun and it "shuffles" is just a fancy way of saying move. I don't think it makes that much sense either but it makes more sense than Nintendo trying to explain Smash DI to the world when very few will notice it.
