Wow I left for the Shouryken forums for a few weeks only to come back and find this thread is still going and is now up to 500 pages. And yet nothing new was said in about two weeks.

That is the only situation I was worried about with planking. When neither player wants to approach. Took them 6 minutes to lose the first stock.

Yea just like there are plenty of people without cancer, but it doesn't mean cancer can't be a problem. As for what I think on the issue. I don't think it has reached the point of a ban, but it would not shock me if we start to see MK be banned at tournaments.

I think overall they are banned because they just flat out suck for competition.

It still resulted in one of the most boring matches I have seen in a while. That is the thing we keep forgetting, what if the other player refuses to approach? Stalemate. Especially if that player has a character that does not have a good response to that.

Actually if you don't consider flying under the stage stalling then I guess he wasn't. Plank did a little more than just grab the edge a bunch of times.

Only time rolling really works is when your foe does a high lag attack....which basically means any good player isn't going to use those attacks brainlessly and as a result rolling becomes less useful. It is not that the roll is inherently bad. Spot dodges have a little more use.

Going back to the original Plank vs SM video I notice that Plank did a little more than just cling to the edge. He was flying around under the map. I think that extreme a case of planking should be limited, but strategic planking should still be around.

I would actually like to see which of these moves are actually tournament feasible or in other words I would like to know if you could pull these off consistently without getting punished. Also sure it sounds nice and all that Bowser might have an answer, but honestly who is really going to...
