One thing I always tell newer players is that everything in melee is subconscious. Just play a lot, and suddenly, you'll begin to learn when it's best to waveshine forward or waveshine backwards. Cliche as cliche can be, but mostly everything in melee comes with practice.

That's a problem I used to have. Make it a habit to laser, grab. It'll throw them off their game. There isn't really any guaranteed throw combos, it all depends on their % and DI, but still, it makes them open. Plus, if they realize they can't shield grab you anymore, then you'll be able to do...

Try mixing things up. If a shiek reads my shine OOS and spot dodges, I like to jump above their head and then drop with a dair, or you could always just wait for their animation to finish and then shine lol

I agree with "keep playing," when stuff like that happens. I have those moments a lot, but they go away the next day rofl.

I've been using L for as long as I can remember, but I guess it's all preference :v find what's comfy for you and build around that
