Family Fun Arcade (Granada Hills, CA) Brawl Tourney: Sunday, May 25th (NO CAP)

Yeah, although again, putting the battery back in won't make the wiimote sync up automatically.

Family Fun Arcade (Granada Hills, CA) Brawl Tourney: Sunday, May 25th (NO CAP)

When you de-battery a wiimote that's been soft synced, it loses synchronization with the wii, and putting the batteries back in won't make it sync up again.

Family Fun Arcade (Granada Hills, CA) Brawl Tourney: Sunday, May 25th (NO CAP)

Heh I edited in a preemptive response to that, but not in time I guess. Anyway, just make the dude de-battery his wiimote once he's done playing. A few guys I know aren't coming today because they've learned how to play using the classic controller or wiimote+nunchuck.

Family Fun Arcade (Granada Hills, CA) Brawl Tourney: Sunday, May 25th (NO CAP)

Why are wiimotes banned, of all things? If someone's dumb enough to have their batteries low and they run out of batteries while playing, or if they press power while playing, just dq them, easy solution. And once a player is done, make him take his batteries out so that there'll be no...

Official 'Item Standard Play' Thread (65k views. Not bad for a side project, huh? :P + Poll in OP)

Well I'm outta this community, hopefully for good. You seem cool Jack, but most of the rest of you guys seem doggedly close minded, it's like you'll just come up with stuff to support how you feel, regardless of facts. I don't really feel like rebutting much on my way out, but here's a quick...

Twin, it's pretty obvious that you don't have very much experience with items-on play. Before coming to conclusions or even trying to advance serious arguments, you need to know what you're talking about. Try playing with items on and try figuring out ways to approach and beat the various...

Official 'Item Standard Play' Thread (UPDATE 1/15: MAJOR TX TOURNEY INFO)

I agree that if you were in the right place at the right time for each spawn of the three pieces that you'd get the dragoon, but not that you'd get the dragoon unfairly. You'd have to not get hit for that entire period of time, and if you're playing with items on low or medium that period of...

Official 'Item Standard Play' Thread (UPDATE 1/15: MAJOR TX TOURNEY INFO)

I'm not assuming infinite anything, I'm assuming equal skill for both players. Heck, I'm not even assuming that, I'm talking about real-life experience with me and my more-or-less equally skilled friends. For us and for most other people I've talked with who've really tried dragoon out, the...

No risk in the dragoon, what are you talking about? There's no risk to the shooter once the actual shooting starts, but there sure is a crapload of risk in picking up and knocking out pieces. An item's impact doesn't start when the item is picked up, there are usually (especially in the case...

Official 'Item Standard Play' Thread (UPDATE 1/15: MAJOR TX TOURNEY INFO)

Yep, pretty much. Of course it's better to have the shooting position because while shooting you have zero risk and a very high reward whereas the dodging position sucks because you have pretty high risk (a 40% chance of losing a stock is still a lot of risk) and no reward. This is why getting...

Official 'Item Standard Play' Thread (UPDATE 1/15: MAJOR TX TOURNEY INFO)

Yeah, it's all about mindgames. I don't have to dodge or roll, I can run, walk, jump, fast fall, whatever, lots of stuff. And it's not incredibly hard to hit someone with dragoon, it's just that in my experience and the experience of the other people I've played and talked with, its success...

Official 'Item Standard Play' Thread (UPDATE 1/15: MAJOR TX TOURNEY INFO)

Hey, if you can do that, that's cool, but I know I can't and most people I've talked with can't do it either. Are you talking about theory, or you talking about real experience here? Remember, it's not like someone says, Ok, I'm gonna dodge, heads up, here it comes! The dodging person is...

Official 'Item Standard Play' Thread (UPDATE 1/15: MAJOR TX TOURNEY INFO)

If you can do that on reaction, you can react and aim way faster and way better than anyone I've met so far, to the point that I pretty much don't believe you can do it consistently. I'd love to see video if you can, but my own experience says that humans just can't do that kind of thing yet...

Official 'Item Standard Play' Thread (UPDATE 1/15: MAJOR TX TOURNEY INFO)

About dragoon and fan, we on SRK have been testing items since the game came out in casuals and tournaments both on- and offline, and there's a consensus that dragoon isn't broken and a near-consensus that the fan is broken. As you noted in your tournament write-up, the dragoon comes with a...

    C3 - BRAWL 4/19/08 Results

Good games to the few of you I played yesterday. Got owned up by a few guys in my pool, which was cool, I learned some good stuff. Would have liked to stay and play some casuals, but I had a few other games to play in.
