I think there’s potential in table top RPG’s for games where the story/combat can quickly change on a whim if you say something wrong. I know you’re hearing that and saying “isn’t that what tabletop RPG’s are already like?” but I mean like there could be a set of “cursed phrases” or actions that if you say them causes an unexpected effect to happen and you have to figure out what they are and avoid them or try to use them to your advantage. It could also play into the magic system/lore in the story while having some dumb silly things you see in modern card games.
I played a tabletop RPG before at a con that does this but it turns out the phrases weren’t actually preset and it was a deliberate thing by the GM for pacing reasons.
