hmmmm, I like this. I unfortunately couldn't get the idea of it being a Japanese Flyleaf once I read that in a comment. Regardless, this is still way more fun to hear. I like not being able to understand the lyrics for one thing. The Japanese are always interesting.
Anyway, the formula here wasn't uncommon, but it was safe and heavy. I think if there were a male or perfectly comprehensible singer, it would have been less easy on my ears.
I actually wish it had lasted longer.

This is really good. It's the soulful and mournful vocals that sell it. It's very moving and it was a great time to hear it. A really good ballad is one of the best things ever.

if I had to pick something to nitpick, it would be that the climax could stand to be a little more...well, climactic XD... it's really not an issue though and it's still real emotional anyways.

One of the main reasons why I can't wait for Warped Tour this year. Such delightfully awkward guitars, and the drums got so much better this time! The only thing is that the singer isn't as daring with her vocals anymore, she seems more afraid to go into some of the higher notes than before.

I'm so conflicted about new IWABO. I definitely still think their self titled EP is the best thing they've done, drum machines aside. their new stuff is a lot more hit-or-miss, but when it's good it's really good. this is one of the new songs that doesn't have any terrible parts in them. I think it's all the breakdowns that turn me off of the new stuff. I want more grind!

lots of interesting change ups. i like the first two minutes, but its not like blowing my ears away or anything... just ok. the next minute and a half was a little boring, i didnt much care. the song starts losing me at this point. i'm not sure what about it it is that makes it so unexciting or mediocre, but this song is just not doing anything for me.

I'm not really such a big fan of rap, especially the kind such as that song. I would prefer some better lyrics rather than rapping about stuff and "living da thug life". Other than that, good bass.

This is a pleasant song. Good background music for working on something. I like that interesting backwards violin sound that goes on throughout the whole thing.

Don't really like the beats. I like the sound of the drums themselves but the beats are kinda boring.

but overall nice and dreamy but also kinda exciting. it's just missing something that really sends it home

I'm always a sucker for epic album closers.
Incredibly atmospheric, especially with the beats, and as they slowly build up.

andohgodat3:20ish.

The song feels very "whole." The last minute wouldn't be nearly as effective without the slow climb to it.

Daaaamn, I haven't heard TTT music in ages. Though I do have my own share of Tekken pieces I enjoy listening too. My favorite would be Tekken 3, Jin's stage arcade version.

This has a nice rhythm and it feels like the song is building up the whole way through. Like you're just waiting for that climax. Normally songs like these that take forever to get there get a bit repetitive and annoying. However, I don't mind this one at all for the most part.

Hell, I would even put this in my car and listen to it at times. Definitely don't mind streaming it while working. Might make for some good workout or warm up music. Definitely gets you in the mood to "fight."

Have you listened to the lead singer's new stuff with We Shot the Moon? It's pretty good.

This is pretty typical piano pop stuff. I don't really have much to say haha. Sounds very average. It lacks something their other stuff has.

The folky burst was kind of unexpected. I really like that little almost low-bit staccato sound that starts at 1:31. Ya know, I think if there were lyrics, it would have brought the song down. It's cheery and bouncy and sounds like music in the background of like a Nordic children's tale haha.

Love the churning melody of the backing guitars during the verses. Lovely guitar chords in the beginning as well. Very catchy. I haven't been listening to this type of music as much lately, but this sort of song makes me feel bad about missing out. 9/10

Love the distant chimes and bells. Very relaxing. It's a little bit, well, barren though, after so long. This is the kind of music I put on when I'm going to sleep. Nothing wrong with that, it's just there is not really much I can say about it because nothing really happens haha.

At first I thought it was a little cacophonous, but it wasn't too messy to where I would stop listening. Then the mood change with the old man on the bike happened, and for a little while, I forgot I was listening to a song. I just started thinking. Not about anything in particular, but not about the song. Now, I might be a few drinks in, but that's still a nice thing to have happen. For these sounds to wrap me up like they did and forget about judging them for a music thread. It does its thing for a while, then the blaring pulse at 3:43 was enough to seal the deal with a good mark from me, but then they still drop me off at the end with that delicate but still fast plucking at 4:04. Comfortable. Satisfied

Very pleasant song to listen to. Guy has a good voice, nice harmonies, simple but creative instrumental parts. Nothing really dragged me in, like I felt it was missing something. Nonetheless, a good song! 6.5/10

edit; though I found myself humming the main melody of the song after listening, maybe it just needs to sink in ^_^

8 min song, here we go.

Well, I did not need this picture to tell me, but I do feel like I am walking or stranded in a desert. Though I am not sure how I feel about the song once it picks up earlier on in the 2 minute mark. I'm guessing it's sort of like telling a story given how the pacing goes.

Though I start liking it again when the singer comes in. Lyrics are rather "mythical" and go well with the background music, retaining that Arabian feel. I don't mind the bridge following this at all, though I'm not gonna lie, I had this more as a "streaming" listen then something actively listening too. The rest of it sounds solid, though I will say I'm in general not a fan of 8 minute songs due to things getting repetitive...which this one doesn't really.

I like the beginning. It is pretty and relaxing. The vocals come in smooth at first...but I cant't really get into them. They are kind of bland for me. Like the love ballad kind of bland that seems to resemble much of what's on the market nowadays. But I really like the piano!

I started liking the song around 3:15. A pretty soothing song but doesn't really bend or break boundaries. It felt very safe and secure. Which isn't a bad thing necessarily. As well, it wasn't my cup of tea but I enjoyed it.

I award it a 3 out of 5.

"Black Sheep" Metric (yeah, I know this was in Scott Pilgrim..but still a great song).

So this is the group that made the song in Scott Pilgrim. When I used to listen to it, I just opted to find the Scott Pilgrim video lol.

I like the lyrics to this song a lot. I mean, the meaning isn't hard to understand, but it's nothing overly cliche in how its presented either.

The background music is what I enjoy most about this song. It's the constant "tense" build up, and the chorus...it's a bit more soothing to go with how she sings, but it's nothing soft by any means.

Honestly, the only thing I don't like about this song is her singing voice. I suppose it fits for this song, but at the same time, I feel like she doesn't really have much talent coming out when she sings. It's just a "natural" voice of hers.

Non-relatable to this song, but I listened to "Help I'm Alive", and her voice sounds better then that, but I still stand by my point it's just her "natural" way of singing. It feels like her voice sometimes get drowned out a bit by the music at times.

Anyways, 8/10. Just the singing I'm not a fan of, but can deal with.

Bob my head like I'm livin in the hood. Like I'm all about thug life.

Joking aside, his flow in the chorus is good. Though even with my headphones on, I have trouble understanding what he says in it.

Verse: Flow is still solid and I understand it with more clarity.

Beat: Simple, yet it goes well with his pacing and voice in the verses. Though that's more on him flowing his words with this beat. I still like this beat though. I wish they would add a bit more during the choruses.

Ethelwulf: Reminds me of another rapper I heard about a long time ago. He definitely has more "vigor" compared to Raw, and I feel like it goes better with the beat. Honestly, I just found his verse more entertaining.

But overall, not my type of rap and not something I'd really listen too. I suppose it's good for what it is.

not sure how this is "trolling". this is a solid Bone Thugs-esque smooth jam. Lyrics are meh, but the song's quite enjoyable. The first verse guy reminds me of Andre3000. The spanish verse caught me off guard but a good flow. Decent beat, like the guitar bits.

Overall, it's "good." but not much else that really elevates

Bringing this thread back, yuh.

This whole song, you figure "Lighthouse" could also be the song's name. What I'm getting at I guess is by just name choice, the song and sound matches the title of the song and their band name to some extent.

As for the song itself, obviously solemn, and it's just one of those songs that are meant to make you think about yourself in an attempt to make you think on your own life. The transition that starts at 2:30 is I think an appropriate transition, and concludes the song rather well.

Overall, not something I'd play in my car, unless it was night time? Actually, the time I'm posting this at would be my time to listen to this. I just struggle with enjoying his voice, that's all. Otherwise, it'd be a real keeper.

yay! I forgot about this thread.

I'm just gonna ignore the title of that video because "violin dubstep" doesn't exactly entice me too much.

Fine beginning, floaty violin lines and a whatever beat.

It definitely starts to peter out early with the tame little wubs.

I'm more engaged by the pretty girl playing in pretty scenery than the music. Also I think the dubstep half of this song just doesn't work. It's not intolerable, but it's just kinda...unnecessary. The violin is very pretty and "airy" and hearing some generic trap/dubstep beat under is just weird. I was also expecting some kind of drop or something to happen but the song kinda just meanders around.

I was about to say that the higher-definition ~half was the more entertaining part just because it was more invigorating, but I kinda realized that it can only be so in comparison to the first ~half. So they did a pretty good job at the two parts complimenting each other. Lyrics had some integrity to 'em, like they weren't cliche but also not abstract unto silliness. I also think well-written lyrics can be complimented by instrumentals that aren't totally technical/difficult, so the simplicity of those were also welcome.

I was not feeling this song much from the start. The only redeeming quality for me was that epic guitar solo. I don't really think this is Cornell's best singing, but I wouldn't know how in general he performs in Audio Slave. Only place I've heard him is in Casino Royale's opening theme, which I thought was magnificent.

So yeah, the singing is not appealing to me at all, and the music itself is a bit dull minus the guitar solo.

No way!
I'll pass...

Um... It wasn't really my taste... I was bored, honestly. x.x
Didn't think the guy had a very pleasant voice either. I had to stop it halfway through, the guy was getting on my nerves.

I'll rate it a 4/10, I did sorta like the chorus and lyrics.

lovely beginning.

kinda sounds like she wish she was lady gaga.

the chorus is kinda not that great.

overall a very generic pop song that is kind of tolerable

but are you kidding me with this dubstep ****. that just knocked the song down a bunch of points.

1/5

I wanted to turn it off after about 15 seconds, but didn't. I actually sort of liked it in a really weird way O.o
I have no idea what the song was about, because I couldn't understand anything he was saying. Then I just used a tool on my computer to cut out the voice... I liked the music a lot more than I liked the person singing. (if that's what you would even call it?) I can't stand screamers.

2/10 The screamo type voice doesn't fit me well at all.

When I cut out the voice: 8/10 nice rock music. I actually listened to it a few times.

i really like the chorus, and [i think its called] the bridge (the part that starts around 2 minutes, all the way til the end). makes me wanna move and really energetic in a good way. nice sounds. however, whenever its not the chorus, the song drops to a zero. for that reason i'll give it a

I did enjoy the bass, my head was kinda swimming in it. But I dunno, the guys just sound kinda sloppy when they rap. And I'm most certainly not one to hate on lyrics about ****ing and weed, but if they talked about it in a way that wasn't so predictable, I would be much more into them.

It sounds like one of those songs you'd hear playing in an island themed restaurant. The lyrics reminded me of Owl City a bit. I guess it was ok, not something I would wanna listen to again, but I didn't wanna turn it off like the last two I rated.

So I guess 2.5/5
