so on second listen to that demi lovato song, i started to enjoy it a lot more. i would even be inclined to give it a 4/5 instead of a 3. it is a good pop song though.

and i dont know how the **** you got "song you would hear in an island themed restaurant" from derp's song, rofl. but whatever.

anyways, on to your song. its... uninspiring. yeah the beat is nice and upbeat and invokes good feelings, and i guess thats what she tries to do with her singing as well, but its just so generic to me. i hear it and i hear nothing new/different, and nothing done exceptionally well.

Lol I don't know. Just reminded me of a a song I heard in a local restaurant, and the type of music they play there.

Now about that Hess song... Why have I not heard of it before? I loved it. Loved the lyrics, the melody, and definitely wouldn't mind hearing it again. *bookmarks the video*

5/5 Amazing.

Welp... it's a song, for sure
I feel like I can't give a genuine review cuz I don't have any real standards of quality for, what is, essentially, quintessential singer-songwriter/pop that's focused almost strictly toward girls.
Hmm. Reading the lyrics, her talking about God, it would make for much more interesting lyrical content if it were more than just "everything will be ok", or if she weren't so succinct. There's nothing for me to figure out with this song.
She's got a nice voice?

It's an alright song. Kinda drags out for a while, but if you're into this type of music, then it's cool. Kinda reminds me of Coldplay.

The song was about a girl who self harmed, and felt that nobody cared or heard her, but in the end realizes that God is always there for her and hears her when she cries. I also tend to like alot of "chick" music for some reason.

As for your song, I'm not a very big fan of that genre (what is it exactly?), but it was pretty good. Not something that makes you wanna get up and dance, but the kind that makes you think. Very unique and original lyrics. although it did get boring after a while.

3/5

Edit: snap I got ninja'd -.-

EPIC! I like electrohouse alot actually, as long as it doesn't just drag on forever anyways. This one didn't. Kept me listening throughout the entire song.

Blush! - Up up and Away

Kind of reminds me of if the *****cat Dolls were all replaced by less spunky Ke$has. It's not bad, but I feel like they don't have any distinct thing about them. Kind of like Danity Kane, PCD (without Nicole), and School Gyrls. Just catchy girl groups.

5/10 Not BAD, but not GREAT.

Yeah I probably shouldn't post religious songs where you kinda have to be a Christian to understand the meaning better. The song was about a girl who self harmed, and felt that nobody cared or heard her, but in the end realizes that God is always there for her and hears her when she cries. I also tend to like alot of "chick" music for some reason.
haha, no I... I know what it's about. It's not unclear at all, in fact.
I throw this little interruption between reviews just to say you absolutely don't have to be Christian to understand or appreciate a song involving God.
And to say you take a leap assuming I can't be Christian

As for Can We Go?, this was a fun one. The track asks me to give attention to the beat itself when its lyrics are there for only a few moments, and it does pretty well to keep my attention. I would say however that its appeal was by virtue of the tone of the synthesizers and not really much to do with the arrangement, which, for all intents and purposes, is very scattered.
Maybe that's the essence of the genre :/

I was actually pretty impressed, it works incredibly well and has an interesting flow to it. It sounds like something you might here on a more avant garde hip hop album. Really like it honestly, there was just one random part around the 40 second mark that just lasted a bit too long in my opinion. Very solid though, i give it 4 cataquaks flinging watermelons into the dark abyss of the sea out of 5

And now for something completely different

FERO LUX are my heroes. if they are ever playing near you DO NOT MISS IT. their live show is one of the best I've ever seen. I've played with them twice and I always really really look forward to it. Not only are they smart and talented musicians but they are extremely friendly people and put on the most passionate and energetic performances. They opened up for Circa Survive today in Orlando FL! I'm so happy for them, they deserve to be bigger.

This is quite enjoyable. I actually really like the backing music. It reminds me of Sega Genesis game soundtracks like Streets of Rage. I think Miley has a really plain singing voice and sounds like she isn't really even trying. But it works in this song though. I like the concept of the lyrics (if i'm hearing them right), especially the confliction of "love and art". It's an interesting lyrical concept that pop musicians tend to not really talk about.

I like this. Definitely a bit more toned down to the previous music I've listened from you. I enjoy the guitar progression, and originally when I saw the short lyrics I was like "that's it?" But the way they spread it out throughout the song and how the music relates to how he sings his lyrics, mainly "What am I supposed to say" during the fast periods and then later the slow periods just works.

I wanna say the lyrics have a deeper meaning than how they are portrayed. Like, if you just took them face value, you would stereotype them into what they literally mean. I get the feeling for this singer, it's a bit more meaningful and deeper than that. I sort of believe him in that aspect. Probably because I can feel the emotion so well from how he sings, and even the emotion from the music.

The last minute or so is definitely different from the rest of the song. I don't mind it though. At first, I was thinking it's too different, but I guess it's okay. I guess I would just not prefer this part.

No way!
I'll pass...
It's alright...
I can stream it...
Give me the album! Now!

I really liked this song. The lyrics didn't really do anything for me (not sure I understood them?), and it kinda got repetative after a while, but this was still a good song. It's now stuck in my head, lol. Not something I would listen to everyday, but it wasn't bad.

I would give this an 8/10.

This is one of my favorite Kesha songs. I think this song is about escaping through dance and music. Musically it kinda reminds me of Lady Gaga's Dance in the Dark. I love the prechoruses "i have destroyed our love, it's gone". i love that rhythm.

not quite what i was expecting from a rolo tomassi song, but it was beautiful nonetheless. a very pleasant song about love (what kind of love? who knows), and the instrumentation really makes you feel that, even if you didnt read the lyrics.

man, i've fallen totally in love with rolo tomassi over the past few months, to the point where i can definitively say they are one of my favorite bands. and just the way they transpose emotion into their music, its ****ing amazing. this song is certainly no exception. i also, for the first time yesterday actually, read their lyrics as i listened to their music. all i have to say is wow, whoever writes their lyrics is a top tier ****ing poet.

:urg::ohwell::)[:bee:]:awesome:

certainly garners a 4/5, but not quite enough to get a perfect score for me. it is a great song though, i can totally see it fitting somewhere inside of cosmology flawlessly.

Me 10 seconds in: Omg *-* Then the screeching comes: D:
It just lost a few points for that. However, it was very minor and I liked the song nonetheless.

I absolutely LOVED the beginning, amazing. The chorus: Amazing. The Bridge: Amazing.
The screeching: Go away please :c

Lol, outside of the screeching, I really liked it. I'm starting to appreciate Rock alot more. I've been needing to expand my interests outside of the Pop, Dance, and Electronic genres, lol.

I don't think I could rate this song well since I really just find rap annoying in general. I don't listen to any rap, so I don't know what makes it work... So feel free to just ignore this if you want. .-.

I didn't like it. (see above) The lyrics don't really make sense, and I didn't like the cussing in it. Wouldn't listen to it again. :L

I guess if you like Rap it would be good, but I just can't really fairly judge it.

To be perfectly honest, it's an enigma how Kelly Clarkson has managed to ride the American Idol momentum this far.
She does have an enjoyable voice, treated or not.
But nothing ever stands out in her songs. Chord progessions, bass lines, nothing stands out. She never seems to evolve as an artist. She could very well release any of her songs during any time of her career and it wouldn't seem out of place at all.
If this were the first time I've heard of her, I would praise the song a bit because of an admittedly smooth voice. But this album was only released a year ago. She ought to be an experienced/confident enough performer to start breaking away from her stricken-young-woman niche.

What do you mean "She ought to be an experienced/confident enough performer to start breaking away from her stricken-young-woman niche."? Who said she wasn't confident and experienced? And what exactly do you mean by breaking away? You saying break away makes me think you mean her turning into a J-LO, Lady Gaga or Rhianna. She is a conservative singer and stays true to her roots, and I admire how she doesn't sing a bunch of trashy songs that are more "adult". And that is why a lot of people like her and continue to buy her albums.

Anyway, to rating your song.
Chris Cornell - Can't Change Me

Fantastic song. I immediately fell in love with it. Captivating lyrics and amazing voice. I am generally very picky about male singers for some reason, but he is VERY good. Also loved the acoustic guitar. I'll probably be listening to this song for the next couple weeks or so, lol. *bookmarks* Thanks for sharing. o:

I mean that I would consider the willingness to sound even a little bit different after a decade of making music to be indicative of the kind of confidence and experience as an artist that she ought to have. She hasn't though, and if I recall correctly, she cancelled a tour prematurely due to dissatisfying sales did she not?

It's not about going the J-Low or Rihanna route. At some point, if you stick to the same old, same old, it becomes repetitive and boring. So while it would not be docked points were it an early song of hers, it would be given it's a current song. Artists can choose to be linear, but the "great ones" tend to mature/progress their sound into something more. I understand if you wanna go back to your old sound after experimenting, but when you don't want to venture out...well you will get criticized for the unknown.

It's not always going to be pretty. For example, compare Linkin Park's first few albums to their recent ones. Most don't like the recent ones at all. A good example would be Kanye West's progression such as making an Autotune album in 808's and then doing a flipsy turby in his MBDTF.

I love how much this song scares me, it's just so incredible. I love the way she seems to convulse to counter the melodic background vocals and piano, it creates a beautiful contrast. The song actually does a great job of progressing without the use of additional instruments, the vocal layering progresses the song on its own.

I don't know, this really isn't in my taste for music. I do like certain parts like when they decided to bring the female vocalist for that extra flavor. However I do feel it's quite standard in how it plays out. That's just me though.

... Why do you listen to pop music intended for 9-year-old girls? I mean, I like pop music (not the modern American mainstream **** though), but really, what the actual ****.
Do you REALLY want to know why?

I live in an extremely conservative religious family, and my parents have to approve the music I listen to. I often have to hide most of my interests, and I wasn't allowed to listen to "secular" music until I was 14. My musical taste hasn't really matured as much as it probably should have, because I'm still sort of catching up on everything I missed I guess.

There, now you know. You don't have to be rude about it.

This is also one of the reason I came to this thread, so I could listen to music other people like and expand my interests. (Even if I do have to hide it)

... Oh. Wow, damn, I'm sorry, I didn't mean to come off as rude bro, but really, you shouldn't take **** from your parents like that. Something as personal as music taste? No, **** that noise, there's no reason you shouldn't have your own music taste. What, do they believe in the stereotypical claims about metal music or something? That's it's like, devil music or some 50s **** like that?

Well, I just listened to it. Obnoxious vocals, generic beat... I don't know... **** it, it sucks. I'm sorry. I'm normally very tolerant towards pop music, but... psh, I'm over it.

Radiohead - The National Anthem

Without a doubt in my mind, the best song on "Kid A".
dude, just chill. People can like different stuff than you. Bad rates =/= antagonizing comments

But Radiohead. That bass line is so simple but so striking. It helps set the portent, melancholy mood that Radiohead is so good at creating. When looking at a Radiohead song, it's easy to recognize that every part that goes into their songs is thought of carefully so everything plays off each other toward an intended effect. Everything meshes well.
It's kind of on the short side though, which is arguably not a fault at all, but that's just how I feel about it.
:urg::ohwell::)[:bee:]:awesome:
EDIT: Oh wait, it's more than 5 minutes. Well, I've been drinking and it seemed to fly by haha. Whatever

I try not to post something from the same artist too close to another, but I just can't stop listening to this album.

I get that completely, but I just didn't understand how a 16-year-old guy (guy) could possibly listen to stuff like that, not even ironically. I don't mean to sound elitist, but, excuse my ignorance, so yeah, I apologize. But I digress.

Ahh, Neutral Milk Hotel. THE Internet band (if that makes any sense) that everyone seems to love; especially their sophomore album, "In the Aeroplane Over the Sea". For some reason, I never really... well... took these guys seriously. In the back of my mind, all I thought of whilst listening to ITAOtS for the first time was a bunch of hipsters bull****ting on 4chan, and trolls asking people if they've heard this album before. The music is good, but it never clicked. Same thing with Sonic Youth's "Daydream Nation", a ****ing LANDMARK album. If I had 1,000,000 wishes, one of my first wishes would be to "get" that album, and that goes for In the Aeroplane as well. Sorry, I'm wandering.

Anyhurr, it's a great song, I love the lyrics and the tone... if only I could appreciate it more.

It'll probably take you a couple of listens in order to understand it, but when it clicks... Trust me, you're in heaven.
