PAL is the more readily-available version over there iirc.

And they've been playing it forever so they probably just like it more.

It's not on sale here? Why doesn't the US and canada change to PAL when they know that's what they'll play when they go to european tournaments?

The PAL version is better balanced (sheik doesn't single handedly invalidate half the cast by a chain grab at any rate), so should surely be the standard if any.

Uh... went to see what matches have been finished today, only to find massive amounts of friendlies. Forgot that between the finals (that are already up) and the rest, there was a night full of stupid teams matches =)

Great. Just.... great.

What happened?
The computer room blacked out for whatever reason. I got an extension cord from the next room and connected the computer. Zap. It was a quality PSU so I hope it died alone.

What happens now?
My recording computer is still encoding, slowly.

What will happen?
Will buy a new PSU tomorrow. If that's the only thing in need of replacement, all is fine.
If CPU/motherboard is dead, life will go on but much slower.
If hard drives are dead, I'll have to re-encode a big portion of the videos already encoded. Though the videos will be the last thing on my mind at that point...

It happens when you get Invisible Ceiling glitched. Also if you get hit out of certain B moves.

Also best kirby kill ever is still Uthrow instant kill on Mute City

New PSU bought, computer seems to work fine. Encoding continues...

I probably could record live sound and mix it with the game sounds. Just need to figure out a good way to automatically sync it. Also need a mike =)

Pfft. Even with the CG gone they're not viable and don't pretend like they are. If Sheik was unable to CG Yoshi it still would not in any way validate his existence as a character. Nor would it fix the main problems wrong with him. And the same applies to Roy, Bowser, Mewtwo, DK, Game & Watch, and many, many others.

The point is that there is absolutely no reason for us to switch to NTSC.
And even though PAL still isn't balanced, the fact that many top tiers were nerfed and many bottoms were boosted makes it more balanced. Not to mention I like the character icons in PAL more =)

The only fails I can think of are Ganondorf's fair and Yoshi's dair.

I agree, but that won't stop me from despising the assertion people make that "Low tiers are viable in PAL", which is completely preposterous. They're not that much better at all. Even if Sheik and friends are worse, the low tiers are largely defeated by their own faults anyway. Removing the easy answer to them doesn't in any way solve their other numerous, vast shortcomings.

Link's Up+B not semi-spiking is a fail, IMO.

At Pound4 I was teaming against a Link and got spiked all the time. Later C took over my place. I guess he didn't know about that spike, I still remember his face when he got spiked the first time. "WTF happened?!" =)
