Qualifications:
The Brawl Back Room is a forum meant to encourage intelligent discussion in the topics of metagame, tournament rules, and national/international scale tournament organization. While this means there is an emphasized priority on accepting top players and/or prominent TO's, we are not necessarily exclusive to those people only. If you demonstrate strong discussion/debate skills, willingness to experiment for the creation and improvement of suggested tournament rules, deep insight into the workings of the game, or any combination of those, you could have a good chance of making it in. If you believe you are qualified to become a member and wish to become one, please post here with your name, any description of yourself and possibly links to some of your posts as good examples of what you might contribute to the BBR, and answers to the questions below.

Questions:
1. What is your overall tournament experience? Do you host/co-host them, or attend them regularly? What is the scope of your experience (local, regional, national)?
2. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.
3. If you were to be accepted, in what area do you feel would be your best contributions to the BBR? For example, stage analysis, character analysis, gameplay, or tournament perspective.
4. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?
5. How do you feel the current BBR can improve, and do you have any plans of helping in this aspect if accepted?
7. Not including this one, how many questions have been asked in here so far?
8. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?

Questions:
1. What is your overall tournament experience? Do you host/co-host them, or attend them regularly? What is the scope of your experience (local, regional, national)?
I've attended locals, regionals, and nationals. I also attend them regularly.

2. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.

Tourneys in past 2-3 months:

http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=293335 4th/32th Md/Va regional (Just did mid tiers at this one from time constraints)
3. If you were to be accepted, in what area do you feel would be your best contributions to the BBR? For example, stage analysis, character analysis, gameplay, or tournament perspective.
Stage analysis, gameplay, character analysis (I examine Wolf's matchups, movesets, disadvantages and advantages in every situation and take those into account before I play anyone or go to training mode) and the tournament perspective. I travel to nationals occasionally and attend locals frequently. I'm active in both the Md/Va scene and the Nc scene (More in Md/Va, but I go to both).
4. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?
Stage lists, gaining more tourney representation, rule set analysis/production, and the current tier list.
5. How do you feel the current BBR can improve, and do you have any plans of helping in this aspect if accepted?
I think it should gain more people who attend tourneys with excellent results and those include diverse character representation. For example, I do good with Wolf and there is only 1 person involved in the backroom related to that character who mains Falco now (Choice). I think I can help my character (Wolf) and others learn more about him, since people seem to have a general consensus that either he is worst then he is or that he is just bad when that isn't the case.

I also am avid at changing the stage list to one that is more conservative. I think too many legal stages are allowed that don't promote a more competitive aspect to game play.
7. Not including this one, how many questions have been asked in here so far?

Hi, I'm Red Ryu, I'm a 20 year old Lucario/Link main that lives in Wisconsin, and mod of the boards there now.

1. What is your overall tournament experience? Do you host/co-host them, or attend them regularly? What is the scope of your experience (local, regional, national)?

I haven't hosted a tournament in a long time, even if I am working on setting up tournaments in Milwaukee.

Attending I have done for quite a long time. I attend everyone I can when possible at a local level, regional I work even harder going out to Iowa, Ohio and other states, for nationals only one I have been to is MLG Columbus. On a local and regional level I have experience, National I am a tad limited because of traveling being an issue with my parents not liking me going too far.

2. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.

I'll post how I have placed over time.

I place 9 - 17 usually.

3. If you were to be accepted, in what area do you feel would be your best contributions to the BBR? For example, stage analysis, character analysis, gameplay, or tournament perspective.

Lucario and Link are characters I know well, I can give insight on these characters and talk about them. Stage lists I defiantly have a lot of knowledge looking at how it influences characters. I've been working with the stage forums and debated in there talking about stages.

I think Lucario is probably what I can talk about the best when it comes to knowledge.

I go to tournaments so I can give a feel of what it is like for my area and how things are run.

4. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?

Well the stagelist was fixed a bit, so I'm fine with how that turned out. The match-up chart was amazing but it can be improved, mostly low tiers because I've noticed a lot of discrepancies among them most of all, even if they are uncommon I tend to like information for people who are looking for that info to have it be accurate.

Helping people TO or how to be a proper TO is something the BBR could do. There are people like myself who haven't TO's in a long time and when finding a new venue, it can be tricky. For other people who also don't have experience they may be a tad fearful of starting a tournament. They could use the TOs in the BBR to help make a guide or maybe just saying what they do to be a successful TO.

Frame data for many characters seem to be lacking, so I think we could work on making an official list for the frame data on, though that may be developer territory. This is good for helping to analyze some characters and get accurate data for Brawl players.

5. How do you feel the current BBR can improve, and do you have any plans of helping in this aspect if accepted?

I feel like stage or character knowledge is more limited with what is released. If a stage is banned, I think the BBR should post why that stage is banned with prove or better understanding to why the stage is banned so people can become educated.

Some characters seem to be limited in knowledge, I think the BBR could use either more people or ways to contact players who play them. Samus has no one in the BBR if I recall, Lucario has no one as well, there are a couple of characters who also seem limited in representation and I feel like this cause information or representation to become limited or used incorrectly.

7. Not including this one, how many questions have been asked in here so far?

Five...is this a trick question? O_o

8. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?

Only one I cannot post is ones from the Lucario backroom, Marc and Shaya popped in there when we were doing the match-up chart so they know I helped out with that.

On both the character boards I mod them, along with running the match-up charts, I've run a few of the Lucario's meta game discussions, I work on stage forums to debate with people.

Lucario MUs: http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=221578
Link MUs: http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=291354
Lucario Metagame discussions: http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=283638

I mostly post on Stage forums.

I can give insight on Lucario, this is something I feel like the BBR lacks. There weren't anyone in the BBR who worked on Lucario's MUs, outside sources were unwilling to help. The BBR's weekly discussion about it was pretty disheartening, right here. Lee had good understanding, but a lot of the people who posted posted things that were down right wrong or incorrect.

I've help Co Host about 3 tournaments at a store called "Montasy Comics"

I have also been to several Tournaments within the Tri-State Area

Tournament Perspective
or
Character Analysis
(Give me someone to study and within Hours I'll know everything about them including match ups Frame rate data etc.)

4. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?

Stage List

5. How do you feel the current BBR can improve, and do you have any plans of helping in this aspect if accepted?

Well, I think the BBR can improve by listening more to the community in general, especially things about the tier list.

If i were to get in, I'd assist by putting myself out there and making sure I hear what the "people" want to say and relaying back to the rest of the BBR

7. Not including this one, how many questions have been asked in here so far?

But it depends by In here do you mean this Thread in general or just this one post

8. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?

Sorry, I don't have any, seeing as most people have there respective forums covered there is no need for me to to post since it would just be spam though a lurk a ton load

I feel more confident this time around! Hey BBR people, I'm Yink. I main Ness, Marth and Yoshi, but I'm way more knowledgeable of Ness. All of them are pretty cool guys though.

1. What is your overall tournament experience? Do you host/co-host them, or attend them regularly? What is the scope of your experience (local, regional, national)?
I've been to quite a few tournaments and attend them as regularly as I can. I attended one of our local monthlies about 2/3 weeks ago, but I do host tournaments myself. The tournament I hosted a couple months ago was my first, but I'd like to think it was very successful. Here's a link to the thread and to the results:

http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=281876 (original thread)
http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=292410 (results)

My experiences are regional, though I do pay attention to the national level of play. I also plan to host Brainshock Beta in June. Here's a link to the thread -> http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=296956

2. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.
My results would be in the Iowa thread in the Tournament Listings. We rarely actually post results threads to my knowledge. I do attend tournaments, but I'm not going to say I do amazingly. I wish I had some more recent things to post, but I haven't had the money to enter recently.

3. If you were to be accepted, in what area do you feel would be your best contributions to the BBR? For example, stage analysis, character analysis, gameplay, or tournament perspective.
It'd probably in the field of character analysis (Ness, some Lucas) and in tournament perspective. I get tons of people who ask me about Ness all the time. So I think it's pretty safe to say I can help out with fighting and understanding Ness in general.

4. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?
A newer, more polished tier list would be fantastic. Of course, the MatchUp Chart is probably somewhat of a step in that direction. Besides that though the Stagelist (which is already also in motion).

5. How do you feel the current BBR can improve, and do you have any plans of helping in this aspect if accepted?
I really think there should be more character diversity in there. The last application process did a pretty great job of getting more in, but on the MatchUp Chart I think there were some lacking areas (but who's perfect? It wasn't a particularly a big deal). I'd help with that for Ness at least.

7. Not including this one, how many questions have been asked in here so far?
If we're counting just the listed (1-5, 7-8) questions, Five. But...if we're counting the questions inside the numbered questions, then Seven.

8. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?
I already posted the tournament I hosted, but as for Ness stuff (which I take pride in helping the community out with) I'll post some:

http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=296020 - Ness Doubles Discussion
http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=188116 - MatchUp Discussions
http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=269969 - Ness Magnet Absorbtion Guide

Hope you guys have fun reading this. And all the other applications!

1. What is your overall tournament experience? Do you host/co-host them, or attend them regularly? What is the scope of your experience (local, regional, national)?

I try to attend every tournament, no matter the scope, within reasonable distance.

I have never hosted a tournament, but I try to be productive by helping people setup or helping the tournament move at a decent pace. I have attended a few locals, and have traveled out of state for a few other tournaments over the past couple months.

2. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.

In locals or small OoS, I usually get top 3 or 4. I am ranked first on the Upstate NY PR currently.
(Will update with links/more details later)

11/255- MLG Columbus
33/??? MLG DC
9/??? - Apex 2010
(1/2)/~33- Syracuse Smash 3
1/24 - Stylin on you! 3, 9/11/10 (Power went out when I was in grand finals, won winners)
2/35- AXS 11/6/10
4th at a New England Tournament (OoS)
17/151- Pound V
1/22 2nd BEST

3. If you were to be accepted, in what area do you feel would be your best contributions to the BBR? For example, stage analysis, character analysis, gameplay, or tournament perspective.

I feel I could contribute best to stage analysis of stages more widely considered counterpicks, as well as knowledge of niche characters such as Ike and Jigglypuff.

I look into many aspects of Ike's design in great depth. I feel as though I lean towards the liberal side as far as stages are concerned. I would like to keep as many stages as possible that support competitive play.

I am very open to outside opinions, and tend to ask many questions myself.

4. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?

I would like to see the BBR gain concrete standards on these aspects:
1. What constitutes as acceptable stage qualities- More indepth view of stages. Many stages need to be looked at a second time.
2. Timer/timing out conditions

Also:
3. More time spent on ruleset analysis in general.
4. More structured character analysis. I was a little displeased with how it was handled in the MU topic
5. Speed/fix of slowness in general

5. How do you feel the current BBR can improve, and do you have any plans of helping in this aspect if accepted?

I feel as though the BBR is too aloof to the general populace. Too slow to react to many things, and too little information that even leaves the intelligent clueless towards the magnitude of BBR's productiveness.

I feel as long as the BBR stays proactive, a constant stream of information will naturally come. BBR needs to be more in harmony with the community with decisions. I feel that progress is stunted if such little information is given out.

I do not want certain decisions being led by groupthink tendencies.

7. Not including this one, how many questions have been asked in here so far?

7. Multiple questions were asked under number 1

8. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?

I make constant contributions to the Ike boards in order to help stimulate metagame development. I also actively help out on the Ike guide and MU discussion. We have one large general discussion topic, so most of my ideas are scattered there.

Don't post things in here that aren't applications, it's not a discussion thread. I'm indifferent as to what you do as long as you post things in the proper places and don't break rules.

1. What is your overall tournament experience? Do you host/co-host them, or attend them regularly? What is the scope of your experience (local, regional, national)?
I've been to a couple nationals so far, those being Pound V (which I regrettably not able to play very well [I was damn sick, as a lot of others were]) and MLG Raleigh so far. As for Locals, I try to attend them as regularly as my schedule permits. During the winter I was not able to go to many, as I was dealing with many personal issues, lack of tournaments (the holidays) and other reasons. However, I do plan on continuing to attend tournaments regularly.
2. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.
While my overall tournament performance is not stellar to say the least, I have done somewhat well and I'm continuing to get better.
5 out of 19 at a Duke Biweekly
outside of that I don't have very many results
3. If you were to be accepted, in what area do you feel would be your best contributions to the BBR? For example, stage analysis, character analysis, gameplay, or tournament perspective.
I'm definitely very knowledgeable about Lucas and can provide much insight about him as a character. I also am exceptionally knowledgeable about the game physics beyond just an abstract scale. I can answer many questions about how things work and am directly linked to the Smash Lab. While I do admit that the Smash Lab has dragged behind (school's been killing us activity wise), we still plan to do more research when we have more free time (aka the summer)
4. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?
I would love to see the BBR look into -insert whatever you want me to conform to here-. It would be amazing and exciting to look into.
5. How do you feel the current BBR can improve, and do you have any plans of helping in this aspect if accepted?
The BBR has several areas to improve; one of it's biggest areas to improve is it's connection with the community. I would help as a moderator and a member of the BBR to keep the community informed as a whole.
7. Not including this one, how many questions have been asked in here so far?

Hello BBR. I am Inferno, a Mario main from NJ that attends college in SoVa.

1. What is your overall tournament experience? Do you host/co-host them, or attend them regularly?
What is the scope of your experience (local, regional, national)?

My first tourney I was almost 2 years ago. I hosted one back in Jan '10 called "Wiegraf too good." Had a nice turnout (40ish i believe). I attend tournaments whenever I can (which ends up being about once a month). Most tournaments I have been to have been locals but I have attended some regionals and nationals.

2. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.

I'm not the best player. Not gonna sugar coat anything. I got out of 1st round pools at both Apex and Pound and I grab a couple of wins at tournaments so I'm not awful.

3. If you were to be accepted, in what area do you feel would be your best contributions to the BBR? For example, stage analysis, character analysis, gameplay, or tournament perspective.

Probably the biggest thing I could contribute to the BBR would be representation of Mario as a character. I won't be someone who will say "Mario is an A tier character and bests MK 7:3." I'm a realist. He isn't a good character but I feel like he isn't represented much if at all by the BBR. The Mario boards saw the MU chart made by the BBR and there was a a lot of things that we as a whole saw as absolutely wrong (both for the better and worse). Two examples unanimously seen wrong in the MU chart in both sides was MK (change from -2 to -3) and PT (definitely not anywhere near -2).

4. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?

Basically the stage list and anyway to make the game better and help the community. I think a good way to do that is if we listen to the people. The BBR is an organization for the Brawl community and we should take some of their comments to heart for the best of the community.

5. How do you feel the current BBR can improve, and do you have any plans of helping in this aspect if accepted?

I want people to take the BBR seriously. There have been some times I've seen people joke about the BBR for making incredibly poor desicions (ie. saying Port Town had the possibility of being a CP stage). I think the BBR has the capability to be taken seriously by a vast majority of the community and I think I can help with that.

7. Not including this one, how many questions have been asked in here so far?

5

8. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?

I feel like I can give a fair, unbiased decision. I listen to both sides of an a discussion and will admit when I'm wrong and accept whatever rule gets passed on. Also I'm a smart person and can easily comprehend things.

I didn't know there would be a third application!

1. What is your overall tournament experience? Do you host/co-host them, or attend them regularly? What is the scope of your experience (local, regional, national)?
I attend every single tournament here in Las Vegas. I'm trying to get permission to go out of state and attend the locals, regionals, and nationals that pop up in the West Coast, and that seems like a possibility now more than ever now that I've taken care of certain obligations.

I am a Co-Host for the Neo Vegassmash circuit.

2. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.
http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=238976

None of the tournaments I participate in go without being posted in there! :D

I wish I had something that showed more recent to show, but being that we just had to revive the community and have everyone come out of a hiatus, I suppose this is all I have to show. I hope that in the future I can gather more and get deeper into those brackets.

3. If you were to be accepted, in what area do you feel would be your best contributions to the BBR? For example, stage analysis, character analysis, gameplay, or tournament perspective.
As far as this is concerned, I have some experience in what it means to run a circuit. I understand the importance of experimentation in hopes of finding an alternate to appease more. The stagelist is no exception, being that we run some of the stages that in most every other part of the competitive community are banned. So far we've been lucky enough to have no complaints (though if you ask me I think nobody really cares to use some of the counterpicks Vegassmash has).

Although I doubt this will get me anywhere, I suppose it's worth a mention that I am very knowledgeable about Sonic the Hedgehog. I have a basic understanding of what it means to play most characters and thanks to the variety that's around the Vegassmash community I have the opportunity to pick up what it means to play against some of the characters that are represented around here. It's so tough when you can't just pick Meta Knight and get carried to the top! @_@

4. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?
I would very much like to see more concrete data about Meta Knight in the competitive ruleset. I've been neutral on the whole situation and I constantly go back and forth between thinking that he should be taken out for the sake of a more healthy competitive community in the future, or keeping him in despite his advantages due to insufficient data, or me not wanting to potentially alienate newcomers into the community. There are more reasons, but I'm sure anybody who keeps up with that and maintains an open mind is for the most part acquainted with the topic.

If not that, I would like to see if a universal stagelist can be formed. All too often I see how people go back and bring up Meta Knight as an argument for banning stages like Brinstar or Rainbow Cruise, and don't even get me started on how torn the community is on just how much "random" should be tolerated, if any amount.

5. How do you feel the current BBR can improve, and do you have any plans of helping in this aspect if accepted?
I would very much love to see more transparency of the BBR. It should be a given that the BBR is meant to only be taken as a recommendation and not the law of the land, but I am on the belief that at least there would be more credibility from the BBR and better relationships if for example; old debates can be archived and posted publicly for the sake of informing the general public about past discussions. I myself have no beefs with having some form of secrecy to protect people from harassment.

7. Not including this one, how many questions have been asked in here so far?
Oh that was close! If I didn't notice that the first bullet was a three-parter, I would've questioned why the 6th bullet missing and left it at five.

8. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?
Smash Lab stuff, lol.
This guy.

But on a much more serious note, I've logged days (as in, easily more than twenty-four hours) to collecting Sonic's frame data alone and have contributed a lot to the community guide which is still a work in progress.

http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=282946

If not as another stagehand for Sonic, I would very much like to join the BBR to inform myself of more suggestions to better improve myself as a player, a Co-host, and maybe even as a person. It's one thing to constantly contemplate over my own ideas, but it's another to see it from an entirely new perspective and open doors that would have otherwise been closed.

1. What is your overall tournament experience? Do you host/co-host them, or attend them regularly? What is the scope of your experience (local, regional, national)?

I've helped out at some tournaments to make sure things went smoothly(ran the bracket while the TO was busy, made sure pools got done, etc.) I usually enter both doubles and singles in tournaments, and I attend them as often as I can, which can be difficult being in a college town without a car, situated out of the way from other cities(Athens, Ohio), but I manage.

I've attended many locals, but have also been to some regionals and a national.

2. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.

OUGA Rangers Zeo - 34th of 41 entrants.
OUGA Going to Game 3! - 25th of 38 entrants.
MLG Columbus 2010 - 129th of 250 entrants.
Lake Erie Summer - 9th of 17 entrants.
Ichi-Kakuto Gemu - 9th of 20 entrants.
School is in Session 2 - 49th out of 54 entrants.
School is in Session 3 - 81st out of 117 entrants.
Pool Pools 4 - 24th out of 24 entrants.
Test Your Might X - 17th out of 19 entrants.
HOPE 2 - 13th out of 24 entrants.
School is in Session 4 - 65th out of 115 entrants.

There were a few I was unable to find, but that's most of them.

3. If you were to be accepted, in what area do you feel would be your best contributions to the BBR? For example, stage analysis, character analysis, gameplay, or tournament perspective.

Character analysis would be a good end for me, especially when it comes to Wolf and Lucas, who are the two characters I have the most experience with. Tournament Perspective I assume would be in discussion of stage lists and the rules for tournaments? That's another area I would like to discuss with other members of the BBR, as there are certain rules concerning stage counter-picks that I'd like to implement into the current ruleset.

4. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?

I think the BBR should be focusing on adjusting the ruleset for a more fair tournament environment.

5. How do you feel the current BBR can improve, and do you have any plans of helping in this aspect if accepted?

It has always been my opinion that the BBR could vastly improve by having a decent amount of mains of each character as members. It was evident from the BBR Weekly Character Discussion Threads in the past that it wasn't the case back then, and as for right now, there's only been one other application between this one and the release of the last tier list, so I believe it's safe to say the balance hasn't shifted much.

This is something that can only be improved upon by the BBR members responsible for reading through and accepting/denying the applications submitted. If accepted into the BBR, I would gladly help in this regard.

7. Not including this one, how many questions have been asked in here so far?

I see seven question marks. :p

8. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?

I would bring good knowledge of the characters I am most familiar with, as well as ideas and opinions about the current ruleset and how to better it for the smash community as a whole.

I appreciate you taking the time to read this and consider me as a member of the Brawl Back Room.

Hello! ^.^ I'm Yikarur (most call me Yika). I'm the co-leader of the German Smash Boards Brawl Backroom (well it's not really active atm D: ). I'm a member of the SmashLab and one of the most knownledgeable people about general game mechaniques, frame data and how to applicate them.
I'm a theoretic-oritend person who knows almost everything about the stuff I'm interested in (example: I'm a Yu-gi-oh Ruling expert and know everything of that games mechaniques)
I main Yoshi and Diddy respectively with more input so far for Yoshi (because I single mained him for the longest time) and visit a lot of tournaments.
Discussionwise I'm really objective if I'm not going to troll or anger someone :troll:
I want to be in the BBR because I'm sure my knownledge and perception of the game could be rather useful for upcoming discussions.
now the questions!

1. What is your overall tournament experience? Do you host/co-host them, or attend them regularly? What is the scope of your experience (local, regional, national)?

- I go to every tournament in a reasonable distance, I was at the biggest european tournament in summer and visit every tournament which I'm able to visit.
- If I go to a tournament I always help the host with seeding, announcing, organising and everything that needs to be done.
- I visited every local and every regional so far (as long as it didn't collide with special personal stuff) I also entered every national in germany that has been held so far and I was at one in summer (BBI, where Ally attended)

2. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.
We have a lot of locals (

We have a lot of small locals with 7-8 Entrants and I'm mostly in the better half but never won one though :(
in Nationals I'm mostly Top33
The Main Problem of placing good in my region is that we have the strongest concentration of good players in germany. (:D)

oh I play Diddy and Yoshi, use Diddy more at the moment because Diddy is really fun and I love that character as much as I love Yoshi.

3. If you were to be accepted, in what area do you feel would be your best contributions to the BBR? For example, stage analysis, character analysis, gameplay, or tournament perspective.

I'm an analyst and theorist so my best bet would be in stage analysis and character analysis,
Tournamentwise I mostly care more about the tournament running well than playing freeplay so you could count me for tournament perpective from the hostside and playersside.
I do a lot of analytical stuff from characters, stages, frame data and much more.

4. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?

I really liked the Match-up chart or at least the idea behind it but pure info is not enough, they should contribute analysis and summaries of most match-up (with video "prove" if possible)

5. How do you feel the current BBR can improve, and do you have any plans of helping in this aspect if accepted?

The Community needs Unity. Unity between europe and US. Both should respect both, I don't like how each side bashes each side over and over again. We need to etablish more ways to communicate with each other, it's so important for an healthy community.
Then the BBR should get their "Rule Set Power" back and let TOs join the BBR so we can create rulesets from the tournament organisation side and from the theoretically, analysis side.
If both the players and the TOs agree with a list, than it's easier to "accept" it. The way it's done at the moment is horrible (like that Apex2012 won't get stickied and stuff o_O)

7. Not including this one, how many questions have been asked in here so far?
5 if you count the subitems, 7 if you count each individual question.

8. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?

- Stuff in the SmashLab
- Stuff for the Yoshi Board (Frame Data, technical stuff etc.)
- helping clarify game mechaniques whereever I read something wrong :p
- Stuff for the german community (like inform about everything important that happends in SWF :D, I'm the main question-answerer in the Q/A Thread)

hope to be accepted this time, I really want to be useful D: ! xD

Greetings: Yika ^.^

1. What is your overall tournament experience? Do you host/co-host them, or attend them regularly? What is the scope of your experience (local, regional, national)?
I have been in the Brawl tournament scene since 2008. Since then, I have regularly attended tournaments and within the past year, I have attended a tournament nearly every week.

Of the experience I have, I have played in mostly Floridian locals (roughly a 10 hour long driving radius). I do not have direct experience with traveling out of state because of responsibilities that I have with my family, however players from out-of-state travel to Florida and that is generally how I get my out-of-state experience.

I have co-hosted several tournaments, such as Holy Smash, Holy Smash: Exodus, and Gallaxfest which were sizable (40+ to my recollection).

I am one of Florida's main video uploaders: http://www.youtube.com/user/FloridaMeister

2. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.
My general performance is improving quite a bit lately, however I'm beginning to focus more on doubles than on singles lately, having won first place in two of the past few doubles events that I attended.

Some recent tournaments that I attended:

3/19 Gallaxfest 2v2 4/9 with D-Torr

3/19 Gallaxfest 1v1 4/23

3/6 Play N Trade 2v2 1/17 teams with Mampam.

2/19 Next Level Lan 2v2 1/8 teams with radiX.

2/19 Next Level Lan 1v1 5/17.

2/12 Gallaxfest 1v1 17/33.

3. If you were to be accepted, in what area do you feel would be your best contributions to the BBR? For example, stage analysis, character analysis, gameplay, or tournament perspective.
If I were accepted, I feel that I would best contribute to the BBR through thoughtful game play analysis/tournament perspective, community insight, as an alternative stage view (in terms of what their purpose is), and general philosophy. I play a number of characters in tournament and out-of-tournament, although my main is my favorite character: Meta Knight.

4. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?
I believe that the BBR should look into improving their standing with the overall Brawl tournament community. Something that I hear a lot at tournaments -- from both top players, mid-level players, and low-level players -- is dissatisfaction with the BBR (the stage list(s) in particular, although that isn't inherently part of the BBR).

5. How do you feel the current BBR can improve, and do you have any plans of helping in this aspect if accepted?
I believe that the BBR can improve by explaining their reasoning and therefore give logical transparency so that the community at large isn't left in the dark as to what the BBR is. As for executing this remedy, I believe that it is as simple as typing up a well-written summary of the BBR's action(s). For example, writing up a match-up summary for each match-up with the match-up chart so that criticism can be made more accurate and productive. This would clearly be a difficult task, given how much information that is, but it would also be a task divided amongst the various backroom members willing to do so. If I were accepted, I would assist in this however I could.

7. Not including this one, how many questions have been asked in here so far?
Assuming that you're only referring to the questions that I've made a reply to within this post (as of this segment), there have been 5 question segments with 7 questions total.

8. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?
Although this is not a summary of my contributions to the community, nor is it exactly what discussion I would bring to the BBR, these give an idea as to how I communicate/discuss some match-ups with players who are not necessarily aware of finer concepts of zoning/spacing:

A rebuttal to someone's statement using historical player records:

1. What is your overall tournament experience? Do you host/co-host them, or attend them regularly? What is the scope of your experience (local, regional, national)?

- I host and co-host tournaments around once every month or two. Also I travel to tournaments every weekend, where I do very well at. I've been attending tournaments for almost two years now, where I've only started hosting tournaments in the past 5 months. Right now I'm trying hard to hype my next tournament http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=298751 . I'm actually going above and beyond the normal TO call and I'm advertising this tournament with professional looking fliers ALL around my city. I'm expecting around 40+ new people for this. I'm trying to jump start my smash community, lol.

2. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.

- My tournament performance has always been increasing ever since I got into the scene. Right now I'm pushing for Texas' 6th best player. A couple of my recent results are

http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=298477
I got 2nd. I beat poltergust, K prime, nike and others. I lost to Espy in GF, but it went to game 5 last stock last hit.

http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=298999
I got 5th out of 40 something.
I beat DMG, Dphat, FK and several others. I lost to Trela and Espy.

3. If you were to be accepted, in what area do you feel would be your best contributions to the BBR? For example, stage analysis, character analysis, gameplay, or tournament perspective.

- I would definitely be able to give excellent Olimar analysis. I've been maining Olimar since the game came out and know everything by instinct. I can also help with the tournament perspective, being a TO and all.

4. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?

- To be honest the current rule-set and something as big as community growth.

5. How do you feel the current BBR can improve, and do you have any plans of helping in this aspect if accepted?

- I think the BBR could start a growing community by addressing it's TO's with different strategies with how to hold their tournaments to promote growth. As for the rule-set discussion, it would have to be heavy debates to promote optimum fairness. I'd help with anything any way I could in the BBR.

7. Not including this one, how many questions have been asked in here so far?

- I see what you did there... XD

8. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?

Hai thar, I'm Bionic, aka Bionic Sonic minus the Sonic part.

1. What is your overall tournament experience? Do you host/co-host them, or attend them regularly? What is the scope of your experience (local, regional, national)?

I am planning on setting up monthly tournaments with Supa Nova within the next few months, but the only closest I've hosted any tournament is a Brawl+ side event at Apex 2010.

I attend tournaments once or twice a month and regularly attend nationals and regionals in the Atlantic North. Due to money issues I'm not able to go outside the Atlantic North (exception being Genesis 2).

2. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.

Not... so good.

Pound V: 97/151
HEEM: 17/22
KTAR 4: 33/79
VGBC Xanadu: 33/51

3. If you were to be accepted, in what area do you feel would be your best contributions to the BBR? For example, stage analysis, character analysis, gameplay, or tournament perspective.

One of the advantages of being in all of the smash mod project backrooms is that it lets me learn a bit more about the game programming-wise, like for example one of Project M's biggest hurdles is finding out landing detection and learning about when a character lands (correlation to the TopN bone) and how it affects their game and ours, DI trajectories from a certain angle, etc

4. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?

I would like the BBR to look into character matchups a bit more, analyze specific frame traps that X character has over Y character, etc.

5. How do you feel the current BBR can improve, and do you have any plans of helping in this aspect if accepted?

I think the BBR needs to improve on the character matchups a bit. I'm sure there are other people knowledgable in PSA/BrawlBox in the BBR, but having someone that is closely tuned to the technical hacking aspects might help to better understand specific character matchups and a better understood tier list.

7. Not including this one, how many questions have been asked in here so far?

8. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?

I think #3 covered it best. I'm well adept in PSA and BrawlBox for finding specific frame data, properties of attacks, as well as bringing in a bit of information from a technical standpoint to help out the understanding of the game overall. Similar to how one of the hacking backrooms use BrawlBox's animator and overlay colored animations, including bone invulnerabilities and collisions, I can do the same for the BBR.

Hey all, I'm Googs also known as Citrus. Probably have seen some of my posts, if not it's probably because i'm from Canada
Questions:

1. What is your overall tournament experience? Do you host/co-host them, or attend them regularly? What is the scope of your experience (local, regional, national)?

-I attend every tournament I can financially, I travel cross provinces in an attempt to bridge the gap between Quebec and Ontario, which are two active smash communities with a rivalry. Because I live in Ontario, but Attend school in Quebec I attend both scenes' tournaments and try to help both communities. I do not host or co-host but I always make sure to bring set-ups and help ask the T.O's for help because I know it's not an easy task t.o'ing. To gauge the scope of my experience is fairly tough but i've been active for a pretty long time i'd say.

2. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.

-My tournament is mediocre however I blame some of that on my region. The Canadian smash scene has limited MU's so when I traveled to pound, it was very difficult. A lot of the characters that Canada lacked I had to fight in pools, learning the match up as I went. I made it to second round pools and ultimately lost. However not without taking a game of esam. My performance has been sub-par but I can guarantee my results with increase very quickly especially with the experience that came with Pound and training with Pierce.

3. If you were to be accepted, in what area do you feel would be your best contributions to
the BBR? For example, stage analysis, character analysis, game play, or tournament perspective.

-I feel I would have good input on stage analysis, which seems to be a controversial topic in the community right now. I do not post there as I prefer to read the communities posts to and figure out the majority's thoughts and listen to each poster's opinion and perspective first. I also think I could help with the game play aspect. I am constantly playing smash and figuring out small things that can help certain characters metagames such as unblockables that I have pulled off on pierce himself.

4. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?
I would love to work on the metagame of the BBR and discuss character gameplay as well as stages. I would love to learn more about the game and only use that knowledge to teach more about the game.

5. How do you feel the current BBR can improve, and do you have any plans of helping in this aspect if accepted?
I think if the BBR roster was updated, and trolled less. People with purple names are supposed to be authoritative figures of these boards. I understand they are titled to their opinion, however they shouldn't flame others. I also believe the BBR should not leave the public hanging for so long and instead of waiting for large updates, give them small updates to keep them appeased. I understand change is hard so I realize that my suggestion my be to difficult. Obviously it is all circumstantial.

7. Not including this one, how many questions have been asked in here so far?
Five? I'm not sure where six went.

8. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?

Well i've been working on platform canceling because I believe it can be a breakthrough in the meta game if people found a more applicable way. I suppose my most recent post that would contribute the Brawl Back Room is showing the Snake boards how to strip grenades when two are thrown :) Pretty neat technique and I find it super useful.

I most likely won't be able to get in, but it's worth a shot. Please excuse my low post count as I lurk a lot and can never find active Brawl discussions, I hope this is not a literal qualification.

1. What is your overall tournament experience? Do you host/co-host them, or attend them regularly? What is the scope of your experience (local, regional, national)?
I attend local tournaments around my area, not big ones. I do not host them. I would attend regional / national tournaments but I currently do not have the money to buy a ride.

2. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.
I am a Peach main in which whom I am still mastering. I would love to post links, but I have absolutely no way of uploading my replays. I will admit, I do lose sometimes but I have a better winning streak than losing. But obviously you won't take my word for it because I have no proof, so it probably doesn't matter exclaiming that.

3. If you were to be accepted, in what area do you feel would be your best contributions to the BBR? For example, stage analysis, character analysis, gameplay, or tournament perspective.
Anything doing with analyzing things, for the stages, characters, gameplay, etc. I do a lot of research upon various subjects I find throughout the game; I take time into looking in the game's files for information.

4. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?
I don't really know exactly, but try to analyze more than just the characters. They seem to be a higher priority over stage legality, tournament rules, and metagames.

5. How do you feel the current BBR can improve, and do you have any plans of helping in this aspect if accepted?
Hmm... I wish I could give an elaborate answer. But you guys should take the public's suggestions more, they seem often ignored or sometimes you respond but just negate a user's attempt at explaining something. I saw this in the BBR Character Matchup thread often. And to also give more information rather than waiting so long... like giving little teasers of stuff.

7. Not including this one, how many questions have been asked in here so far?
Five unless you count the missing number 6, which is then obviously 6.

8. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?
Oh good lord... The one question I can't exactly answer. Well to my dismay I can't link anything, but I can explain what I can bring to the BBR!

I see that I can bring excellent debates, tid-bits of information to tally up characters amd stages, and speak clearly without the, "Oh, he's a user with less than 100 posts so he automatically is accustomed to the stereotype that he is a n00b and cannot speak clearly." I also will vow to become much more active, I mean in like a "post more posts" sorta way. ^_^

Thanks for reading if you did! I'll be back on BBR Fool's Day! =D Hopefully I'll gain my sense of humor back someday... >___>

1. What is your overall tournament experience? Do you host/co-host them, or attend them regularly? What is the scope of your experience (local, regional, national)?

I attend, host and co-host tournaments. I have been been hosting monthlies for about half a year now with the latest series being "TC's Smash Cafe". I have hosted 5 tournaments collectively, will be co-hosting a regional March 19th and will have another local under my belt in April. I am one of the most active members of the Michigan Smash Community and have attended local. regional and national level events. I have a lot of experience under my belt and have traveled so several states looking to expand my horizons.

2. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.

My tournament performance has improved significantly over the last few months with consistent 9th placements and my last tournament I took home a 5th place. In 2010 my results were less impressive with 13ths a few places here and lower placements at bigger events. I am working hard to continue to keep rising in my placements. School's in Session taught me what I needed to work on and I've been applying it ever since that day.

3. If you were to be accepted, in what area do you feel would be your best contributions to the BBR? For example, stage analysis, character analysis, gameplay, or tournament perspective.

I personally feel like my areas of interests and strengths are character analysis and tournament perspectives. I have a lot of experience with characters in general and I love to analyze them. And I am always looking for new ways to improve my tournaments. I have been experimenting with the BBR Ruleset for my last 2 tournaments with much success. I feel like changes could be implemented however.

4. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?

I don't believe that any one aspect should just be looked at. I believe that all the aspects should be looked at. Tournament play, characters, stage discussion, the community itself, all of it.

5. How do you feel the current BBR can improve, and do you have any plans of helping in this aspect if accepted?

I feel like BBR needs some new members with fresh perspectives that are willing to listen to more dynamic ideas. I believe that I can contribute in that department. Especially regarding tournaments. It no secret that the BBR Recommended Ruleset is widely disputed by many. I personally have no qualms with the ruleset but I believe that it can be improved. I also believe that with certain characters, new and knowledgeable members are needed. Many of the older legends have retired from this game and certain characters boards are left without much direction. The metagame is moving forward but some characters are being left behind. I want to change that and do my part to keep things running effliciently so that our tier lists and discussions are accurate.

Knowledge is power.

7. Not including this one, how many questions have been asked in here so far?

If I answer this incorrectly do I just get ignored? lol No, but 5. 7 if you want to get technical and go by everything that has a question mark by it.

8. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?

My contributions are wide spread. My first goal was to resurrect the Michigan Smash Scene so I founded this:

The Michigan Tournament Council

Its purpose was to organize a flow of tournaments again so we could eventually resurrect our Power Rankings and attract new and old players alike to play again. We succeeded and our first Power Rankings since 2009 was created just a month ago. I am also a panelist for the Michigan Power Rankings as well.

My contributions also focus on my characters that I use. I always get myself deeply involved with my character community and try to make as many posts and contributions as I can. Though I no longer main Snake I have made contributions to various matchup threads as well as other things.

The Snake Metagame Discussion Thread

And now that I main King Dedede and the boards are dead I am working hard to revive them and I have a few projects lined up. My contributions here:

The New DDD Directory Thread

How to Get Better With DDD

My newest DDD project that Coney and I have discussed:

The New DDD BBR MU Discussion Topic

I have answered several questions in this thread regarding general DDD knowledge. Always happy to share what I know with other players.

DDD Q & A Thread

Thank you for reviewing my application. As everyone else here, I eagerly await to see whether I make the cut. Hopefully the BBR decides to draft this avid player into their ranks.

Much love,

I go by ALSM, an acronym for AeroLink the SoulMaster. I'm a pretty dedicated player to my favorite character of all time (Link). I reside in Dallas-Fort Worth, Texas, which is a tough region for smash.

Questions:
1. What is your overall tournament experience? Do you host/co-host them, or attend them regularly? What is the scope of your experience (local, regional, national)?

My tourney experience includes hosting one local tournament and attending tournaments regularly. I have been to numerous locals, several regionals, and one national so far.

2. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.

My overall tourney performance is decent. Here are results of this year so far: (I go under the tag ALSM) For singles, I have been using Link in tourney, and have recently included Toon Link in my last two tournaments.

3. If you were to be accepted, in what area do you feel would be your best contributions to the BBR? For example, stage analysis, character analysis, gameplay, or tournament perspective.

I feel I can contribute to all the aspects mentioned above. My best contribution would probably be character analysis and gameplay. I can also contribute in other aspects such as tournament rulesets including stage legality.

4. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?

I like how the BBR made a matchup chart of the whole character roster. I would most certaintly love to contribute to the development and management of that chart.

5. How do you feel the current BBR can improve, and do you have any plans of helping in this aspect if accepted?

I feel they can improve on the overall analysis of the tier list (especially around the low tier section) and the matchup chart. Yes, I do have plans of helping should the opportunity be given to me.

7. Not including this one, how many questions have been asked in here so far?

8 questions have been asked.

8. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?

The most I've contributed is to the Link boards on SWF and AiB; here are some posts:

No reason not to, I suppose...

1. What is your overall tournament experience? Do you host/co-host them, or attend them regularly? What is the scope of your experience (local, regional, national)?
I attend virtually every tournament in New York that's available. I'll also attend some tournies in New Jersey every so often, but I'll generally keep things local.

I've also spectated and played through enough matches to know what's up. It's New York and New Jersey, after all.

3. If you were to be accepted, in what area do you feel would be your best contributions to the BBR? For example, stage analysis, character analysis, gameplay, or tournament perspective.
Well, I am capable of working my way around numbers. I'm one of those accountant types who can keep tabs on pretty much anything with relative ease when asked to do so. Frame data, money, anything you want, I can turn into a statistic.

I'm also capable of putting things into practice. If a theory comes up, and people are indifferent over whether it's a good tactic or not, I can make a real practice session happen. For example, I have a special system going on right now to test whether or not MK's planking really is broken via 3 to 1 payout money matches. If necessary, I can probably put in the extensive testing on any topic that needs to be evaluated.

And... I guess I can help in character analysis too. I have a lot of resources at my disposal to aid in my theorycrafting. Plus, going to a lot of tournaments in NY/NJ have given me a lot of insight into a lot of character matchups, so I can definitely be a bit of help there, too.

But my strongest suits definitely are numerical data and turning theory into practice.

4. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?
Well, anyone who's been following me on Competitive Discussion for even 5 minutes will immediately know I'd like the BBR to look into Meta-Knight. I'd like to start a full scale analysis on the character based on the surgical rules that keep him in the game, his two(or three) taboo moves, his stages, and his overall dominance in the tournament scene.

In addition to that, I wouldn't mind looking into Brawl's stages to see if there's any data on them left to be uncovered. I wouldn't mind just giving them all a good once over to test for real legality and the like.
.
.
.
5. How do you feel the current BBR can improve, and do you have any plans of helping in this aspect if accepted?
The BBR can improve simply by allowing the public to participate more in the BBR's movements. Become a democracy or something! If you all believe there's something in the game that needs to be changed, open up a community poll to see what goes down.

Or better yet, you can round up the more important TOs and convince them to make a complete overhaul to the rules(another reason why I believe influential TOs should be in BBR; it makes things much simpler), kind of like what the BBRRC did.

Basically, I think the BBR can improve by acting more in the community. Staying all reclusive and such probably isn't the best choice, ya' digg?
.

7. Not including this one, how many questions have been asked in here so far?
In the entire thread, 176 questions. Yeah, I counted them.

This should be enough; proof of my love for statistical data!
Success/Popularity of Every Character (click it!)

You can also see my argument capades against T0MM Y(avoid namesearch) in this thread regarding MK's planking, starting with my first post halfway down this page:
http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=292389&page=45
The arguing ends at page 52, post 1549. Make sure you read it all through, and hey, BBR members, why don't you guys take it into consideration about MK while you're at it? :)

Here's another good example of how well I can make a point, and keep compromises throughout the way.
http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=299179&page=5
Starting with the first post I made on this page.

My selling point is the thread with all the data. My ability to argue is just a fringe benefit.

1. What is your overall tournament experience? Do you host/co-host them, or attend them regularly? What is the scope of your experience (local, regional, national)?

Back in 2002 - 2005 I used to run a tournament hosting group online called "Zone Checkers Rooms" it had over 3000 members before it died when the MSN Gaming Zone ended. We hosted a wide variety of tournaments which covered checkers, chess, bridge, etc. If you need proof ask the Bridge for Fun Group (at http://www.bridgeforfun.net/) or American Checker Federation (http://www.usacheckers.com/) about Corey Modich (aka me).

I've gone to some local tournaments, but overall I think we should be making something that could help train TOs easier like a buddy program or something to make tournaments not take too much time.

2. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.

2. I've gone to a few MI tourneys (all at Game Yard and I placed 5th, 9th, and 13th http://allisbrawl.com/ttournament.aspx?id=10652) all in 2010. I'm having trouble finding links to the others. I haven't played any in 2011 yet because I've been training.

I'm also the 2008 21 and under U.S. checkers champion (http://www.nccheckers.org/NCCA/2008 3-Move National Results.htm) (doubt that counts for anything :B).

3. If you were to be accepted, in what area do you feel would be your best contributions to the BBR? For example, stage analysis, character analysis, gameplay, or tournament perspective.

Lucario character analysis, some advanced stuff like Shield (S)DI, and perhaps another DI thing that I haven't looked into for years.

I'd also like to discuss stage positional advantage.

4. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on? What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?

Understanding every single character without making too many generalizations (personally, I'd like to see at least one active BBR member per character).

Quite honestly, there is a lot the BBR could look into, but I feel we should gain a complete understanding of each character before we can go into deeper things.

5. How do you feel the current BBR can improve, and do you have any plans of helping in this aspect if accepted?

I feel the BBR could be more communicative with the rest of Smashboards.

1. What is your overall tournament experience? Do you host/co-host them, or attend them regularly? What is the scope of your experience (local, regional, national)?

My first tournament was on 7/31/06 (Smashtality) under the tag gclu. My most recent tournament was VC8 and I will most likely be Apex 2012 unless something gets in the way..again. I blame my visual problems for me not being able to attend OOS tournaments.

My experience:
My original smashboards account was: http://www.smashboards.com/search.php?searchid=4337097 Where i joined on 08-04-2005 (forgot the password a LOOONG time ago and my account connected is unusuable). I have seen the rise and fall of Brawl MLG, the famous older and newer threads, and the beginnings of smash 64 online. In other words, when it hits august, I will have been here for 6 years. I joined and found a community that I feel to have a home in.

I am a member of all three of the smash communities, the online for brawl and smash 64, and I do not have the anti-melee, anti-brawl, or anti-smash 64 persona many people have.

2. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.
I have never done well in tournaments. Some of this is probably from me being in one of the most competitive and metaknight centralized areas of the US (NJ/NY border is Tornado Alley for a reason) while being a mid-tier main. This area is a mass of good players and it is virtually impossible for someone of my level to do well. I am going to Apex though to seriously check this opinion.

3. If you were to be accepted, in what area do you feel would be your best contributions to the BBR? For example, stage analysis, character analysis, gameplay, or tournament perspective.

Stage analysis: I was the starter of a thread to make a 7 stage neutral list. I have been fully in support o this type of ruleset. I have made many posts saying how the current neutral list benefits the characters at the top to even more of an extent than the matchups. I don't judge a stage's neutrality or ban-nature until I play it competitively. I was one of the people who changed the smash 64 ruleset from 1 neutral to 3 similarly.

character analysis: There are 0 people in the BBR who main Luigi. Many other matchups have not been done properly. I can also help partially with the Mario and Sheik Matchups.

Gameplay, see stage list, ledge grab rules, the rules of the infinites and suicide moves.

4. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?
Matchups, a proper stage list with more neutrals. Better matchup chart.

5. How do you feel the current BBR can improve, and do you have any plans of helping in this aspect if accepted?
I feel that the main smashboards community should be informed more of why certain stages are neutral/counterpicks and a reason per character per tier list to say why everyone is where they are. Also, make a matchup chart.

7. Not including this one, how many questions have been asked in here so far?
6.

8. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?

I have multiple threads/posts that have assisted other smashers whether it be brawl, melee, or smash 64. I started the 7 stage neutral list thread as said along with many others.

I feel that I would bring an opinion of someone who has an indepth knowledge of the stage list and an indepth knowledge of Luigi and other characters that seemed to have been forgotten by the BBR.

Well, since spending time making a great app hasn't worked in the past....

Same as last app, regularly attend tournaments in my area, still place top3, and get around 25th at natls. Still run a circuit between kansas iowa and missouri, as well as run my own events (which are always successful). My contributions would still be directed towards Olimar analysis, gameplay and tournament perspective. I think the BBR should look into an alternative routes to deal with stalling, since the one we have now is currently pointless and typically causes additional stalling sub-rules to be added to tournaments here and there. BBR can improve by focusing on working on projects that matter... match-up chart? Cool stuff, but I doubt we're going to be making a tier-list based on match-ups. How are you guys dealing with problems in the game? Iirc, the universal-ruleset committee still hasn't gotten past stage-list' it's been 5 months or so...
Finally, posting my contributions.... I don't think this question actually matters, lol. I regularly contribute to the Olimar community, though recently everything we discuss is over skype. If it really matters, I have a lot of gold nuggets in my previous applications :)

O, if it helps... I take credit for all of the posts from "Fino" who is banned. This would be my round 2 acct.

1. What is your overall tournament experience? Do you host/co-host them, or attend them regularly? What is the scope of your experience (local, regional, national)?
I'm about as average as it gets in terms of placement. I've been to a few locals, a few regionals, and a couple nationals. On the national level, I'm usually on the bubble of bracket/pool play. I attend touranments when I can. I've traveled to both the East and West Coast, making many friends and enemies along the way.

Starting in May of this year, I intend to host a major regional tournament twice a year. I've gotten my feet wet helping host small scale local tournaments, and aspire to be a great TO as well as a great player. Link can be found here: http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=298236

2. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.
5th in the Pound V Amateur Bracket
45th at WGF
17th at Supercon

Honestly, nothing really major outside of that. I am ranked 12 in the broken gay *** state that is Kansas, but that ranking will go down shortly :) :) :)

My past time is friendlying top tier players randomly at tournaments and then beating them, scratching another name off the hit list.

3. If you were to be accepted, in what area do you feel would be your best contributions to the BBR? For example, stage analysis, character analysis, gameplay, or tournament perspective.
I am an expert on the technical mechanics of ICs, which is essentially why I'm in the smashlab. Ask any good IC player. They'll probably say that I know every gimmick in the world, including some that I haven't shown the world yet because I'm saving them as a trump card in tournament to make up for my general lack of tourney experience compared to the top tier of players.

However, have also contributed thoughts in terms of ruleset creation to make Brawl more viable as a competitive entity.
I am a proponent of a conservative stage list: http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=295747
I am also a proponent of competitive depth and arguing from logic.

I have also become a key member in a resurgence movement in the smashlab including pushing for a chat in order to effectively work more quickly than a forum would allow. At some point soon, I'll also be responsible for recruiting. Info from the BBR might at some point be helpful in furthering Smashlab research, which is another motive for me to apply.

4. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?
I would like to see the BBR look into competitive viability. This includes modifying current rulessets to foster competitive gameplay as well as make the game appealing to prospective players.

This sort of movement needs a nationally unified organization with clear presence in the community. While the intention of the BBR has been good so far, they've lacked in execution in that regard. There needs to be more movement, more unity, and more presence in order for the BBR to be viable and for Brawl to be viable competitively.

5. How do you feel the current BBR can improve, and do you have any plans of helping in this aspect if accepted?
The BBR needs to have greater transparency. IF it were up to me, I'd make the BBR viewable to reading, but not allow non members to post replies. This allows the community to see work product of whatever current project is on hand.

I would make sure the community at large would know what's going on with the BBR and help to increase the presence, activity, and unity of the community.

1. What is your overall tournament experience? Do you host/co-host them, or attend them regularly? What is the scope of your experience (local, regional, national)?
I have a great amount of tournament experience, ranging from locals here in the Tampa area to nationals such as MLG Orlando and APEX 2010. As far as hosting, I have never hosted a tournament but I hold weekly smashfests for the Tampa community and I've helped the hosts run tourneys when need be.

2. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.
http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=266165
All of my tourney results are in this thread. Most are in the OP, with the most recent ones scattered throughout the later pages. I usually place decently well with some breakthrough performances and some letdown tourneys. I still feel like I can improve beyond even that for sure with Zelda/Sheik.

3. If you were to be accepted, in what area do you feel would be your best contributions to the BBR? For example, stage analysis, character analysis, gameplay, or tournament perspective.
I can bring character analysis, gameplay and tournament perspective for both my mains and a mostly every other character. Being one of the very few Zelda/Sheik mains out there, I can bring great insight on a character that is very rarely seen on any level. Thanks to all my tournament experience, I am rarely surprised by anything out there. I also pride myself on being unbiased so I will not play favoritism on my character or any other for that matter.

4. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?
I would like to see the BBR find ways to make the game more appealing to players that are just entering the scene. I felt that the mentoring program that was here on SWF was a good start and that it should be helped or supported by the BBR.

5. How do you feel the current BBR can improve, and do you have any plans of helping in this aspect if accepted?
This has probably been said the most, but I would like to see more thorough explanations for the BBR's reasoning behind things such as Match-Up numbers, and tier lists. They do a good job as is but sometimes do not give all details so I would like to see any and all details in an explanation. No sugar-coating.

7. Not including this one, how many questions have been asked in here so far?
There's been 5 questions so far; 7, when you include sub-questions.

8. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?
To be completely honest, I don't feel like I've made giant contributions such as techniques and such but I help out MU discussions in the Sheik and Zelda boards when the boards are active. I haven't been active as much as I've wanted thanks to college and my laptop crashing but at least my laptop will be fixed soon, allowing me to get really active again. I recently made a Q&A for the AiB Sheiks in hopes to bring them out of hiding and I also critiques other players gameplay.

As I said before, I can bring great insight on three characters that are rarely seen in top levels of play (Zelda, Sheik, Zelda/Sheik). I am also a great debater and I want nothing more than to help the community advance and improve as a whole. If I can get in, I'll do everything in my power to help.

Thank you for consideration

My name is Mink, i am a Jigglypuff / Zero Suit Samus main from Florida.

1. What is your overall tournament experience? Do you host/co-host them, or attend them regularly? What is the scope of your experience (local, regional, national)?

I go to tournaments regularly, that being at least 3x a month. I am a driver for the players of Central Florida and drive to tournaments in cities over Florida. So far the only tournaments i have had access are is locals, though this weekend will be a regional. CEO will be my first national, which is this coming july. I have hosted and Co-hosted around 5 tournaments, those ranging from small local tournaments to larger scaled tournaments, around 30-40 people.
Though my tournament hosting skills aren't high, i'm hoping my other contributions to this thread will shine through for me. I have had alot of tournament activity.

2. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.

There was a discussion for our crew's tournament placings, but it is currently under construction, though my latest tourneys are listed here:
http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=297162
http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=299496
http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=298512

Of course everyone has off days, though in my recent tournaments my placings have been crawling into better placings.

3. If you were to be accepted, in what area do you feel would be your best contributions to the BBR? For example, stage analysis, character analysis, gameplay, or tournament perspective.

I feel like i would best contribute to character analysis. As a big contributer to the jigglypuff boards, i am interested alot in discovering options and techniques and even the most minor overlooked things with each character. I feel like being in the BBR would help alot of my work i put into the jigglypuff boards currently and could help alot with the development of the character.

4. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?

As a low tier main, i like looking at matchups and creations of the tier list. It's always the most controversial thing discussed and i would like to see how it is discussed and put my 2 cents in. Besides that, i think that everything else is running fine :)

5. How do you feel the current BBR can improve, and do you have any plans of helping in this aspect if accepted?

I can't say i have an answer to this. Since i don't have access i can't say i can be a judge to all the work that the BBR puts together, though from what i've seen, i feel like we could use not only tournament placings, but technical reasons, ie options and what not, discussed in the tier lists. We have a thread dedicated to tournament placings and how the tier list would be if arranged by that. I understand that every character board has a MU thread, but knowing that every MU thread is run by the users, things can get jumbled and alot of MU's are shown incorrect or biased. I'm sure the BBR has a reason for each character being where they are, and i would be interested in helping develop that and bringing those options and metagame to help on my contribution to the boards as well as help the BBR become more informative.

7. Not including this one, how many questions have been asked in here so far?

I hate questions like these. I always double guess myself, if you're talking about in this questionaire, there have been 5 questions. Though if you are asking about TOTAL questions in this questionaire, the number would be 7. Andddd if you're asking about in this thread total, it's 200+ haha.

8. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?
http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=297806
http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=291923

Those are the two threads i run. Though total contributions would be in the jigglypuff boards MU thread and moveset discussion which are both being discussed constantly. The MU thread, being slower than the moveset that is. Linked above are my Tournament results thread, which i take jigglypuffs (most that don't report themselves) and add them in by location and tourney date and placing. I have been updating accordingly. The other link is a link to my matchup thread that i made myself. The Boards matchup thread, i felt, was lacking a bit on necessary matchup information, so i took the time to do the research myself. Of course with every thread there are mistakes, but for the work i put in i feel like it's adaquate, and of course it's still being worked on (since it doesn't have all MU's done).

Overall, i feel like i would be a great help to the BBR because of my knowledge with a lesser known / used character as well as my tournament experience. I attend tourmaments very often, and even as i don't place top 3 every tournament i do my best to get friendlies in every single tournament to try to take notes and get more information on the jigglypuff MUs and Metagame. By bringing this information and work ethic into the BBR i feel like i WILL and CAN be a great addition in helping you, the BBR, become more informative and in turn, help my boards run with information that is up to date.

[collapse=What is your overall tournament experience? Do you host/co-host them, or attend them regularly? What is the scope of your experience (local, regional, national)?]I try to go to most of the large-ish tournaments near me, but I'm involved in so many other things and for some stupid reason most convenient tournaments line up with the weekend before I have exams -_- lol anyways, you can more or less always expect to see me at KTAR or APEX, since they're so close to me I'd be a fool not to go.[/collapse]

[collapse=How is your overall tournament performance?]Bad. Assume next-to-last place. More or less convinced it's a choking problem since game 1 is rarely ever an issue, even against some really solid opponents. That and maybe they catch on to me way too well, but idk, choking is definitely a big factor :/[/collapse]

[collapse=If you were to be accepted, in what area do you feel would be your best contributions to the BBR? For example, stage analysis, character analysis, gameplay, or tournament perspective.]Stage analysis and character analysis. I suppose I'm in the liberal category when it comes to stages, and I'm really not so happy with the current BBRRC stagelist, mainly because I really don't follow the logic with certain stages (coughpictocough) being legal while others aren't. In terms of character analysis, I'm excellent when it comes to Wolf knowledge, solid enough with actually playing Wolf, and very open-minded when it comes to MU discussions and the like. My opinion would be fairly valuable in anything pertaining to Wolf, and everything I say will be backed up if possible and contain a disclaimer saying I have no proof or that I'm not fully certain if I can't back it up. However, if you're looking for someone that's also a top player, you should definitely take Seagull because he has been stepping it up hardcore as of late. Like, really hardcore. This isn't so much to vouch for him as it is me just being really proud of his recent accomplishments, because like... yeah. <3 Seagull, doing work ;D[/collapse]

[collapse=What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?]Matchups, mainly. We know so little about MUs when at this point, we should have things more or less figured out, both character-specific mechanics (Luigi's chart showing what jab mixups are guaranteed on which characters, maybe a basic SDI guide to avoid things like Wario's nair and Pikachu's fair from leading into grabs, etc) and MU specific facts (relative kill %s, how the MU changes with the stage, punishes and relative safety of attacks, etc). I was pretty disappointed to see that there was nothing released to supplement the MU chart, people need to be educated on matchups and seeing a number says very little. Needless to say, I'd be putting in serious work to make Wolf's MU spread accurate and informative to the best of my ability if accepted.[/collapse]

[collapse=How do you feel the current BBR can improve, and do you have any plans of helping in this aspect if accepted?]Well... the BBR can't properly discuss things, from what I've seen/been told about the MU chart. So many closed-minded people going into discussions with mediocre arguments. More people need to listen to the other side (as well as fellow panel members) and come to solid conclusions instead of blind compromises if/when possible. I would help this tremendously, even if only for Wolf's MUs.

Speaking of which, it would be excellent if they had a directory for the MU discussions so people could learn about the MU and see where the numbers are coming from, but I understand that you guys have your reasons. It shouldn't be too hard to make a program that's kinda like a more epic version of Pokemon damage calculators. You input the first character, you input the second character, and all these charts pop up. Preferred neutral, preferred CPs, preferred strike, relative kill/death %s with respective moves (with some indication of how to land/avoid each), specific combos to be aware of, guaranteed jab mixups and etc if applicable, recovery tips, preferred zones, alllllllll sorts of things. Basically an awesome MU summary where you just input the two characters and get all you want to know out of it. It'd obviously be a lot of work to collect all of this data, but come on. The Brawl community in general is lacking initiative (which makes sense, seeing as how we have other things to do in life as well), but some things are significantly less well-known and widespread than they should be. It won't get done anytime soon, but we should start organizing all that we know as soon as possible. In my opinion, of course.[/collapse]

[collapse=Not including this one, how many questions have been asked in here so far?]Depends on if you're counting the individual questions in each collapse tag, or the general groupings of questions. The count is 3, 1, 1, 1, 2 (assuming the "and" splits it up into two separate questions, even though it really doesn't I guess, but whatever), and then this question. So 7 or 8 if you count individual questions, 5 if you only count general questions. I hope you're all amused :glare:[/collapse]

[collapse=Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?]I really haven't done much that isn't posted in my last BBR application, a lot of the stuff from that application still applies to this one actually, since I haven't really done much since then.

Anyways, important things I would bring. First, a Wolf main. Having multiple mains of each characters is obviously going to be very helpful for MU discussions to avoid bias (not that I think Wolf had any bias issues for the first chart, but just in general). Secondaries are better than nothing, and I'm honestly not talking down the contributions of anyone on a character panel that doesn't main or co-main that character at all, but I'm sure any character main knows that there's a difference between your familiarity with your main and your familiarity with your secondary. It's important to have people that really know the character when it comes to discussions so you can better prove claims and have more productive discussion going on.

This kinda ties in to me actually listening to the other side of an argument, so long as they provide sound logic/reasoning/proof. Blind claims are never good and I always do my best to avoid them (usually just asking questions so that those that know better can educate me). A lot of times, negotiating the details of a point will come down to theorycraft, which I'm pretty well-versed in :p but it's really important to have people in the BBR that are actually willing to admit that they don't know everything and take that opportunity to figure out nuances of a MU or learn what the other side knows that yours doesn't. Compromise is best when it's the result of furthering understanding on both ends, which is something I definitely will be helping with if given the chance.[/collapse]

Thank you for taking the time to read my application, and best of luck to all applicants :)

Guess a Small description is in order...
I'm Sinister Slush, I'm currently A 16 (17 in 2 weeks) year old Yoshi Main. I live in TX of Bandera currently until my moving options migrate to SA once again after 4 long years of agony here.

1. What is your overall tournament experience? Do you host/co-host them, or attend them regularly? What is the scope of your experience (local, regional, national)?
I've attended as many tournaments as I possibly could in TX. From SA, to Austin, Kingsville, Houston, and Dallas. My first few months of competitve Brawl I tried attending every single tournament during July-November so that gave me a bit of a boost in the Yoshi category.
For hosting/Co-hosting tournaments, Around July there was a Monthly thing to where we were allowed to bring our own Wii+SSBB at a library in SA, not serious but about 15 or so people came. I turned it into a Tournament put down basic rules talked about striking and what neutrals/CP's were legal and (No laptop) made brackets with Paper and we had the top 5 get a picture that's currently hanged on their walls somewhere.
Outside of that, when the TO is busy in a match or something else I manage the bracket for him/her and call some matches that need to be played until the TO comes back.

2. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.
Here's tournaments i've attended in the past 2 months.
WHOBO 3 No full results for Pools, since I did not make it out, So do not know my placing as of right now.
17th out of 42 Nikefest 3
13th out of 26 Pik a Nik 2
13th out of 40 KoK We Hate Grown Ups 4
13th out of 21 Zigsta's Blizzard Beach
Not really that many tournaments now that I put them up, but I'll just atleast say the Yoshi mains suffer a terrible curse of 13th or 17th placing. Of course it's just an inside joke.

3. If you were to be accepted, in what area do you feel would be your best contributions to the BBR? For example, stage analysis, character analysis, gameplay, or tournament perspective.
It'd most likely be Character Analysis For Yoshi. I've been looking through Yoshi's matchups, movesets, frame data, what move clanks with what, The amount of Hits our Armor can eat through etc.

4. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?
Most likely the Tierlist, Stage lists, and The Rule set analysis.

5. How do you feel the current BBR can improve, and do you have any plans of helping in this aspect if accepted?
I think the BBR needs to look into the MU's for some characters quite a bit. And maybe different rules for TO's for a change of pace, community growth, and to just explore more aspects of stages rather then choosing the same Stages over and over again and hardly learn of the other stages that're being left out that can prove to be a good Neutral/Counterpick in the near Future.

7. Not including this one, how many questions have been asked in here so far?
The answer is either 5.
Or 6 is missing cause he's afraid of 7, that means 7 8 9 which's why there's no 9th or 6th question.

8. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?
Yoshi Stage Discussion
Top 5 Yoshis
Yoshi Tournament Results

For stage disscussion I put down some of my opinions and tried to get other Yoshi mains to help out, sadly that didn't help all that much and it resulted to a dead thread.

Top 5 Yoshis was something miles is still doing, so I decided to make one for the Yoshi mains, despite making it I quickly stopped due to noone wishing to help with tournament results on who they lost too since some of the results threads had no Bracket or simply it'd be sarcastic stuff just stating the top 3 choose two random Yoshi's cause we feel like it.

Tournament results wasn't updated since I began the Tourney scene back in June so I decided to take over around December and i've been updating since than. Sadly Yoshi's wish to just lurk and not bother posting results so it's mostly Me and (Currently BBR member) Polt and maybe the occasional new Yoshi putting up a result or two.

I try helping quite alot, but the Yoshi mains are either too lazy to help, or just lurk and almost never put their own opinions up.
I have helped with MU ratios and summaries, but that's in a Yoshi group that we discussed this. We have a new MU thread that's stickied but the current thread owner keeps taking breaks and little to nothing gets done.

Heya, my name's Zigsta. I'm a film student at the University of Texas at Austin and one of the top Bowser mains in the country. I'm the leader of the Austin Brawl scene. Oh yeah, and I'm also known as the Disney guy 'round these parts.

1. What is your overall tournament experience? Do you host/co-host them, or attend them regularly? What is the scope of your experience (local, regional, national)?
I attend tournaments whenever I can. Typically it's at least one a month. Last semester I wasn't able to attend nearly as many tournaments as I wanted to due to my film schedule, as I was in two production courses, but my current semester allows enough time for tournaments.

I recently began hosting tournaments here in Austin, my first being Zigsta's Blizzard Beach and my second being House of Mouse, which takes place next weekend. As the leader of the Austin Brawl scene, it's very important to me to not only provide a monthly venue for my fellow Austinites but also to know the scene will still be healthy when I move to California upon graduation in six months.

As far as scope goes, I've attended tournaments in Texas, Louisiana, Alabama, and SoCal. Most have been local or regional, with my sole national tournament being WHOBO 2 last year. I'm currently planning on attending GENESIS 2 this summer (since I'll be working in CA this summer) and Mississippi Smash University in the fall--both national tournaments.

2. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.
17 out of 27 at Pik-A-Nik 2
9 out of 25 at Zigsta's Blizzard Beach

After getting subpar results at Pik-A-Nik 2, I took a month break from Smash to focus on my studies. Now with a first place win at the International Family Film Festival, I'm back with a refreshed and renewed mindset. And from the looks of it, just in time!

3. If you were to be accepted, in what area do you feel would be your best contributions to the BBR? For example, stage analysis, character analysis, gameplay, or tournament perspective.
Since I'm from Texas, I have access to a wide variety of characters as well as nationally-known players for their respective character. I also main Bowser, a character who could definitely use more representation in the Back Room.

I'm also a talented writer. (And modest, too!) As touched on earlier, my animated short screenplay "Grizzly" recently took home first place out of 500 entrants in the category of Animated Short Screenplay at the International Family Film Festival in Los Angeles, California. I've been writing a series of blogs called "What Drives Me," which delves into a bit of what makes me the person I am today. My first blog, Champ, which discusses my feelings after my dog passed away, actually drove many Smashers to tears. I feel it's important for Smashers to get to know the person behind the Smash tag, tournament results, and character in order to make real friendships. I'm a skilled public speaker as well--I won first place in a state competition in both extemporaneous speaking as well as original oratory.

At tournaments, I'm the guy who's always talking with people. I love helping new Smashers get past that "scrub mentality" and showing them how to get the most out of their tournament experience. When I first entered the competitive scene, PhantomX mentored me in a similar way, and I told myself I'd do the same for any younger Smashers.

I'm a proud Eagle Scout to boot. My group of friends is quite diverse. You'll also never see me mad--just ask anyone who knows me. In application of the Back Room, I'll prove to have a level head at all times even in the most heated of debates.

4. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?
There's a few Bowser MUs in particular I strongly disagree with. Tier lists in every Smash game are, after all, constantly evolving as new breakthroughs in character gameplay are discovered/practiced. So yeah, I definitely go with tier list evaluation.

I'm also very interested in the ledge grab limit rule, especially after Rich Brown/Will's incident at WHOBO 3.

As far as stages go, I'm conservative. That said, I'm highly interested in hearing the more liberal side of stages.

7. Not including this one, how many questions have been asked in here so far?
384, plus or minus a few. I didn't double-check myself because I'm starting to get hungry, and my TV is calling me.

8. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?
I run the Bowser Video Thread. I also run the PT Video Thread and the PT Results Thread, but I'm in the process of trying to hand those off to someone else since I don't play the character any more. I moderate the Bowser, Wario, PT, and Southwest boards.

As for what I'd bring to the BBR, I touched on this in a prior question. I'm a calm, level-headed guy who excels at both writing and speaking his opinions. My skill with Bowser is relatively rare as well. I strongly feel the combination of these aforementioned traits make me a strong addition to the Brawl Back Room.

Thanks for the read--can't wait for the results!

Hi, I'm Illmatic. A Peach player from Houston, Texas. To be honest, at first I was a bit apprehensive about trying to take a second shot at being admitted into the Brawl Back Room. I've already been rejected, and quite honestly I do not totally agree with all of the decisions the group has made in the past. But after evaluating myself I came to the realization that the group isn't forcing the community to do anything - they are simply just giving recommendations to help further the life of the game. After my experience at my most recent tournament WHobo 3, I recognized that I wanted to be once again apart of what the group as a whole is trying to do. For one - I respect and look to a great amount of players in the Back Room. About four members of the group at the tournament actually took time out of their day to greet me and even help me in my gameplay with a few friendlies and tips. That proved alot to me - while parts of the smash community whine and groan about the aspects of the game and even still continue to play it, the Brawl Back Room takes those aspects and tries to alter it and discuss with other top level players to keep the game alive and allow it to be the best it can possibly be, and I share that passion.

1. What is your overall tournament experience? Do you host/co-host them, or attend them regularly? What is the scope of your experience (local, regional, national)?
I am a very dedicated and hard working individual if the activity somewhat interests me. As far as smash goes, I attend everything that allows me to get better as a player. If there is a smashfest going on around my area I am definitely one of the first people there practicing for whatever upcoming tournament. If I feel as though our community is slacking in activity, I sometimes even host my own. Although I have stopped hosting tournaments altogether and have never really co-hosted any tournament, I did volunteer to set up WHobo 3 with Xyro, Inui, and a few others. In addition, I have attended locals, regionals, and even nationals.

2. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.
I believe I do fairly well in tournament with the character I only character I use in tournament - Peach. Although I am satisfied with a fair amount of my most recent performances, I'm striving to do even better in the future!

3. If you were to be accepted, in what area do you feel would be your best contributions to the BBR? For example, stage analysis, character analysis, gameplay, or tournament perspective.
I know the most about my character: Peach in Brawl mainly with her character specific matchups, but I also have a great understanding of the mental aspects of the game. I have the boldness, poise, and awareness to consistently make good reads, and pick up information on the opponent with relative quickness. This is most likely due to the great understanding of the options each character has in many certain situations, and the option my character has in spacing and floating to put herself in the best position for punishing mistakes.

I would also enjoy adding contributions to stage analysis and game play analysis. I feel as though both of them need to be thoroughly examined and discussed. The stage list is always something that can be altered or changed because the game play of our meta-game is constantly evolving. They both go hand in hand.

4. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?
More explanation for decisions released to the public. For example, in the tier list displaying how many votes each character (that was a hot subject) got in moving either up or down by the BBR. Although the BBR doesn't need the public to know about everything - it could help here and there to justify a few major decisions regarding what the group releases. I was very pleased to see this happen when they were posting threads in the character forums that related to the tier list, and to gaze upon what the public thought.

I would also like the group to come to a more established ruleset that is friendly to everyone. I know it may seem like the BBR is beating a dead horse with this proposal - but the activity needs commitment and dedication, because problems always arise in our community regarding it.

Another proposal would be taking more notice into certain character match - ups. They are constantly changing as well as the metagame. As well as keeping mind how strong character's counterpicks are against their opponent.

5. How do you feel the current BBR can improve, and do you have any plans of helping in this aspect if accepted?
I believe it needs a bit more character diversity, as well as players who place very well with the character they main to help with the matchup chart. If we have intelligent as well as top players in the BBR we are bound to have more concise matchup ratios as well as data as a whole.

7. Not including this one, how many questions have been asked in here so far?
There has been three hundred and eight nine questions asked so far. I waited for someone who had a good amount of time on their hands (like Zigsta), and just added five to that amount. :awesome:

8. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?
I will keep peace in the Brawl Back Room, and I will not start any unnecessary drama over claims that I disagree with. I will do my best to validate my point, but I will also look the other player's point of view.

As far as gameplay goes, I will bring recently discovered knowledge to the Peach discussion in the back room. I specialize in playstyles and counterpicking stages when it comes to the character Peach especially.

As far as actual contributions I have made to the character boards and the community as a whole I operate the Peach video thread in our forums:

http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=174156

I have contributed to the Peach guide:

http://www.smashboards.com/showpost.php?p=11343987&postcount=82

I have a fair amount of knowledge on counterpicking options, here is some knowledge I shared about Peach on Brinstar:

http://www.smashboards.com/showpost.php?p=11129486&postcount=188

I have a strong set of morals and set high goals. Here is insight on my first year in smash competitively:

I'm extremely excited to be given this opportunity yet again.
Can't wait for the results!

Kasper's application for the Brawl Backroom

Hello BBR. I'm Kasper, a Falco main from the European smash scene.

1. What is your overall tournament experience? Do you host/co-host them, or attend them regularly? What is the scope of your experience (local, regional, national)?

I attend tournaments very regularly in the UK. Always placing in the top 3 with other high ranking players throughout Europe such as Anaky and Calzorz. I do often help with the seeding for our local tournaments which get a twenty to thirty person turnout on average. Here are some links to my results. I would offer more, but our main tournament organiser hadn't kept track of the .tio files.

2. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.

http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?p=12182268&highlight=kasper+results#post12182268 - 3rd Place. In this tournament, there was about twenty or so people. I wanted to vasten my experience with other characters, so I went Wario and practised the ins and outs of this character, earning me my 3rd place placement.

http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?p=11704441&highlight=kasper+results#post11704441 - 2nd Place. This tournament was held by a newer member of our scene so it didn't recieve a very high attendance, but most of our top players made an appearance. I went my usual main Falco and took Calzorz to very close games in the grand finals.

http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?p=10823289&highlight=kasper+calzorz+anaky#post10823289 - 13th Place out of 140 entrants. This was where I became a known player in Europe. After getting through my really tough bracket and playing well against really tough players such as Ally, taking him to game 3, and beating out really tough players in my pools and bracket. As you can see, other top players from the UK also placed really well.

http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?p=10613895&highlight=kasper+calzorz+anaky#post10613895 - 3rd Place. This tournament didn't recieve a very high turnout, but once again our top players made an appearance.

As you can see, I have good tournament results and I'm willing to learn other characters to adapt to playstyles, this is one of the reasons why I think I'll be very good for the BBR.

3. If you were to be accepted, in what area do you feel would be your best contributions to the BBR? For example, stage analysis, character analysis, gameplay, or tournament perspective.

I feel that my best contributions would be towards gameplay and tournament perspective. I'm known for my Falco having a unique style compared to other Falcos. I like to make my characters far more versatile then other players do and you may notice this in this video. You can see, that in comparison to other top Falcos such as DEHF, I play very differently, but that's why I think I have a lot to offer since I can bring a different outlook to the BBR.

From a tournament perspective, I can help the BBR discuss matters in regards to dealing with the current metagame.

4. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?

I would like it if the BBR would look into ways for more characters to deal with the current threats of the metagame. Such as Metaknight's game on the ledge and what other characters can do to deal with it. I feel the BBR should have a larger focus on dealing with the current issues in the metagame. Teaching people how to become good TOs is also something I hope the BBR could look at. There are plenty of people in the community who try to run tournaments, but there are always issues with them and it ruins the fun of the tournament because of delays and whatnot. We've seen a lot of issues here in the UK with tournaments being delayed because of pools taking too long, or the players not being seeded properly. If we could perhaps work on a guide to fix these issues, it would be really useful.

5. How do you feel the current BBR can improve, and do you have any plans of helping in this aspect if accepted?

I feel that having a better outreach to the community would be a good way to improve. If we could get more people involved with the BBR, I feel that the BBR would gain more respect from the community, as well as produce more results for the community. I feel that the BBR plays a major role on our community, and I feel that I can help strengthen our connection with the community in ways in which they feel benefit them.

7. Not including this one, how many questions have been asked in here so far?

If you are including the multiple questions from question 1, then seven questions have been asked so far, lol.

8. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?

I do often get asked about technical things with Falco such as wavebouncing your lasers to make them safe on shield. Follow ups out lasers and phantasm, platform cancelling options falco has on certain characters and general things.

I do hope you enjoyed reading my application and I hope you consider me for the BBR.

I'm stingers, a ROB main from North Carolina. Sup.

1. What is your overall tournament experience? Do you host/co-host them, or attend them regularly? What is the scope of your experience (local, regional, national)?

I've hosted tournaments in the past but generally not so much anymore. I attend almost every brawl tournament held in NC, and I'm the leader of the Brawl PRs in NC.

2. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.
5/28 - G6 Monthlies 2
2/15 - Game Reapers
2/20 - Enter the Dragon
5/37 - G6 Monthlies
1/21 - Vice Versacon

3. If you were to be accepted, in what area do you feel would be your best contributions to the BBR? For example, stage analysis, character analysis, gameplay, or tournament perspective.
I would be able to contribute best with my insight into my characters metagame as well as my insight into the mid-south tournament scene (not a lot of representation from our region in the BBR currently).

4. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?
Hmm, I think that for the most part, the really in-depth, game engine/frame data type stuff is already covered by the smash lab (in theory, anyway) so the BBR should exist as a more metagame-focused body, dealing with analyzing tournament results, doing things to promote tournaments, have tournaments be better run, etc. As for the game itself, I think the current projects like the tier list or the matchup chart and such that use real-life data in addition to data from the game are on the right track.

5. How do you feel the current BBR can improve, and do you have any plans of helping in this aspect if accepted?
I think the BBR's main goal now should be, along with existing projects, spearheading new projects to establish more ways to revitalize the scene and get new players interested in Smash. I have a variety of ideas to this end, with varying levels of realism, however, at the very least I would be able to discuss these ideas with not only a more mature group, but one that includes many prominent TOs.

7. Not including this one, how many questions have been asked in here so far?

I feel like I'd bring, first and foremost, a clear headed ROB main, and secondly, I'd be able to bring mid-south representation (it's a big region that's really lacking in the BBR). Thanks for reading =]

I'm K Prime, a Pikachu main from Texas. :3 I'm a mod on the Pikachu boards and a member of smashlab.

1. What is your overall tournament experience? Do you host/co-host them, or attend them regularly? What is the scope of your experience (local, regional, national)?
I attend tournaments very often. At least once or twice a month. I've been to pretty much every local, a few HOBOs, all 3 WHOBOs, MLG Dallas and a bunch of other tournaments all around TX. I've never attend any tournaments outside of TX but would love to someday.

2. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.
My results are usually above average. I'm currently ranked 7th on the TX PR which is based on tournament results.

3. If you were to be accepted, in what area do you feel would be your best contributions to the BBR? For example, stage analysis, character analysis, gameplay, or tournament perspective.
Mostly character analysis and anything about Pikachu. I'm amazing with frame data and I'm very knowledgeable with the game mechanics.

4. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?
I would like to see an official release of every character's frame data.

5. How do you feel the current BBR can improve, and do you have any plans of helping in this aspect if accepted?
Having more players on the panel per character for discussing match-ups. I want to help out on Pikachu's MU discussion. You guys need more than just ESAM on there!

7. Not including this one, how many questions have been asked in here so far?
Eight questions. Three in the 1st bullet, one each in the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th, and two in the 5th.

8. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?

I've helped researched chaingrabs for ZSS, Wario, and Peach as well.
Made a thread on how to buffer Pikachu's dthrow chaingrab: http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=279480
and I've done Pikachu's entire frame data.
By accepting me into the BBR, you'll have one of the smartest Pikachu mains there from one of the strongest regions.

Sup yo. I'ma cut to the chase since my name is already on the side (or top for those with the other format).

Questions:
1. What is your overall tournament experience? Do you host/co-host them, or attend them regularly? What is the scope of your experience (local, regional, national)?

Overall tourney experience was a regular attendee that sometimes helped out with hosting or running tourneys. I was starting to branch out into the regional/national levels.

2. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.

Last set of tourneys I was attending were:
MLG Raleigh: 64th of around 120 I think.
SIEGE: 17th of 101.

Ain't really feeling like looking for the links. They're old anyways due to me having personal problems interfering with me attending tourneys until most likely the end of the year. The other ones are only me placing 13th of 30 players at consistent GA monthlies with NC and AL attending them.

3. If you were to be accepted, in what area do you feel would be your best contributions to the BBR? For example, stage analysis, character analysis, gameplay, or tournament perspective.

Character analysis. I mainly look into characters on a technical level whenever I get the chance. Gameplay would be another, but not nearly as much since it's mainly comprised of video analysis.

4. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?

I think you guys are doing good as of now. Some of the rulesets that were out of your hands (I believe) were a little ludicrous, but you learn as you go.

5. How do you feel the current BBR can improve, and do you have any plans of helping in this aspect if accepted?

Really, I'd help improve knowledge of low tiers to get some of the people that complain all the time in tier lists to back off. Plus, I'm about timing. I hate being late on ****, unless whatever is being discussed or researched needs more time to gather a more accurate synopsis.

7. Not including this one, how many questions have been asked in here so far?

I like my lucky number, so I'm choosing 5.

8. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?

I'm project manager of the Yoshi boards research team, and when I have free time, I spend it getting the research done.

Oh, and I'm mainly doing this cause Hades said so.

Hello. My real name is Aaron but smashers refer to me as "Nike." I'm 20 years old and I was born in Phoenix, Arizona. I moved to San Antonio, Texas when I was 5 and still reside there today. I'm currently attending college and am majoring in Digital Video & Cinema Production. I spend my free time surfing the internet, playing smash, playing the guitar, watching sports, and occasionally playing tennis.

I'm also addicted to soda, which is why my youtube account is named "sodaddicted."

I've always taken a huge liking to the Smash Bros. series. It was not until my first Ken video in 2005 did I realize how competitive it really was. Inspired by his play, I picked up red marth for melee. Today, I still main him with the switch to brawl :) Though there's a wealth of information currently available for anyone, I feel as though being accecpted into the BBR will give me a great opportunity to further understand the ideas and mechanics behind tournament organization, tournament rules, and the overall metagame.

1. What is your overall tournament experience? Do you host/co-host them, or attend them regularly? What is the scope of your experience (local, regional, national)?

I am a tournament organizer for my local area. The tournaments I’ve hosted have received a lot of great feedback. As of right now, I've hosted 4 total brawl tournaments. The results of all 4 tournaments can be found here:

(lol at such creative names)

I've also co-hosted countless local tournaments. I help other tournament organizers with bracket seeding, calling out matches, moving tables/tvs, etc.

I'm the main facilitator with housing. I'm fortunate to live in a home capable of housing 30-40 people, which I've done for the Texas, Oklahoma, and Louisiana smash scenes on multiple occasions.

I record a plethora of tournament matches. I've attended multiple nationals simply to record as many matches as I possible can. Currently my youtube channel has 597 videos total, almost all dedicated to smash.

I'm also one of the few drivers in my local area that is able to drive out of town to other tournaments (such as HOBO's or Phase's).

As you can see, I'm a pretty big contributor to the community and a major one to my local area.

2. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.

Here is the results thread of every tournament I've attended since the last BBR New Member Application Thead.

[collapse="Tourney Results"]

[/collapse]

To summarize, my usual placement at local tournies are 4th-7th. At out of town tournaments where most of the Texas Scene attends, I place 17th-25th. At MLG Dallas and WHOBO3 (the 2 nationals I attended), I placed 33rd.

In my local area's power rankings, I'm currently ranked #3. You can see that here. As of right now, I'm ranked #29 in on the Texas Power Rankings, which has several hundred players on it. It's a slight increase from my rank at the time of the last BBR New Member Application thread. I finally got past my plateau that plagued me for years and recently I've been getting a lot of positive feedback about how much better I've gotten as a marth main.

3. If you were to be accepted, in what area do you feel would be your best contributions to the BBR? For example, stage analysis, character analysis, gameplay, or tournament perspective.

Although I try to educate myself as much as possible about everything in brawl, I feel as though I could make my best contributions to character analysis and tournament perspective. I know a lot about the character marth. One of marth's strongest attributes is pressuring the opponents with walls. I've put extensive knowledge in this playstyle and try to represent my marth with it.

I could also contribute with video editing. If there's something the BBR needed on youtube (such as an AT), I could upload no problem. My channel has hundreds of subscribers because of major sets uploaded on it. I'm currently making informative marth videos to help further his metagame. I'm sure the BBR could find uses out of me.

4. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?

The BBR recently covered a huge portion of the game, especially with the New BBR Matchup Thread. There's a few matchups in marth's portion I may not agree with, but obviously there were a lot of compromises with the character panels under the project. I like the thought of being a part of Version 2 :)

The main aspect I'd like to see that BBR look into/work on would have to be a more united ruleset. With the huge flame war during the Version 3 Ruleset and the BBR RC releasing a ruleset that the community has different views about (especially after the Will vs Rich Brown set at WHOBO3), I think it's something that could be more worked on.

Personally, I have a conservative mindset as far as stages and ruleset's.

5. How do you feel the current BBR can improve, and do you have any plans of helping in this aspect if accepted?

I think the BBR Matchup Thread V1 was unfortunately lacking representation in a few characters. I believe allowing members into the BBR whose character has little to no representation would benefit the community tremendously.

As for how I can help in this aspect? I'm not sure how much I could lol. I feel as though I can help with knowledge about marth, even with Shaya, Pierce7d, and Raziek currently in the BBR.

7. Not including this one, how many questions have been asked in here so far?

I believe it is 405 questions so far. Poor #6, Ankoku never gave her a chance :(

1. What is your overall tournament experience? Do you host/co-host them, or attend them regularly? What is the scope of your experience (local, regional, national)?

I attend tournaments somewhat frequently. I don't have a local scene since I am inbetween Chicago (4 hours away) and St. Louis (3 hours away), so I attend tournaments about once a month and maybe another if I can. And because of this I only can attend regional and national, so oddly enough I'm actually familiar with with most people of the midwest.

I don't host tournaments but I help out tournaments with Radium88 (Rauleen) when they are run in St. Louis. I don't know if it counts as helping run but I whenever I go to a tournament now I try and livestream or record the main tournament matches.

I feel as though I could contribute to everything actually. I study stage analysis with BPC and the others that regularly post in the stage forum regularly. I don't always agree with BPC or ADHD for example but I look at what they post.

as for character analysis, I can contribute to what you guys need from a DK main. DK is an underrepresented character and since I have a direct line to every other DK main I can ask their opinion on matters that may concern them.

4. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?

the rules of the game itself actually. I'm one of the people who supports the CP game 1, opponent CPs game 2, and then , if need be, a stage strike for game 3.

5. How do you feel the current BBR can improve, and do you have any plans of helping in this aspect if accepted?

Working on releasing information that is outdated by our thinking today. also work on keeping the public updated on what our plans our for the year or the coming months or just generally, what we are discussing.

7. Not including this one, how many questions have been asked in here so far?

Not enough. I don't see how you admit people with so little information.

1. What is your overall tournament experience? Do you host/co-host them, or attend them regularly? What is the scope of your experience (local, regional, national)?

My primary experience with Brawl has been hosting tournaments, something I've done since launch weekend. Most have been just locals, which is everything south of San Antonio, TX, a region bigger than some states. Due to my region being 4+ hours away from any other scene in Texas and my heavy class schedule, I haven't been able to attend many regionals, but I do whenever I get the chance. I also run the nicest stream in Texas (www.justin.tv/charropunks)

Tournaments I've hosted (Messatsu is my brother who provides venues while I run tournaments):

I've also run 4 or 5 other tournaments that didn't have threads here.

2. How is your overall tournament performance? Please link results, if available.

Since, for the most part, I run all of the tournaments in my area, and worry more about that than my actual performance, my results tend to be poor, with forfeits and/or throwing matches. When I do get a chance to play without worrying, I place top 5 locally.

3. If you were to be accepted, in what area do you feel would be your best contributions to the BBR? For example, stage analysis, character analysis, gameplay, or tournament perspective.

My best area would definitely be in tournament perspective, as I have a lot of experience running tournaments for multiple games. I also enjoy discussion of stages and match-ups.

4. What aspect of the game would you like to see the BBR look into/work on?
Definitely match-ups and stages. At least, from what I gather. I don't know how much has really gone into these discussions, since I can't read what's in there.

Something I've always thought the entire community could reach into more is the rift between Brawl and other fighting games. This is a huge source of players that the community can benefit from tapping into, but doesn't for some reason. Here, I always run SF and Marvel with Brawl and Melee and many of the players play all the games and are top players in both.

5. How do you feel the current BBR can improve, and do you have any plans of helping in this aspect if accepted?

Everything can always improve, obviously, and a big area is the rift between the BBR and the community. As I've been an ambassador between the two groups of gamers in my region, I could perhaps help in this area as well.

7. Not including this one, how many questions have been asked in here so far?

Where is number 6? :glare:

8. Finally, if you haven't already, please link to posts of any contributions you have made in the past; what do you feel you would bring to the Brawl Back Room?

While most of my recent posts have been Trollish in nature, when I'm not too busy poking at people that think too highly of themselves, I can give a good word or two on a few things, mostly Marth-related and PS2 related, since most people have everything else covered, I tend to go where I'm needed.

I also play Marth, not Ganon.
