Hi everyone, I'd just like to thank everyone who helped make this tournament a great time. All in all, everyone "adapted" to the new rules quite easily, and the tournament results weren't crazy upsets so it obviously didn't ruin competitive play

Most of the changes for next time will be organizational ones... IE. me actually knowing how tio works, and actually having some help...

Thanks everyone for helping clean up, and epic cleaning lolz for getting everything back to my house in one trip.

Were vids recorded?

not as many as we would have liked, but more than none... Don't really know exactly how much, but eventually vids will get posted

I've got lots of vids of Stations 1, 5, and 6, and a few of Station ..... 3 I think (Ulevo's Wii, to the right of the Melee). It will take me a while to get them all up lol, but I'll post the links in this thread. Unfortch I had to leave before Singles grand finals, but I still got lots the doubles and singles pools/brackets.

I did get some of the Melee recorded not sure how much of it, though.

I left a few replays on random other Wii's; anyone who brought a Wii should check for replays from the event, and if you can't upload them yourself, PM me your Wii # and you can send them to me to get uploaded.

A big challenge will be trying to figure out who's who in all the replays; since the tags aren't saved characters, playstyles, and timesamps are all we have to go off.

I can't remember who's Wii it was on, but our pool kept saving replays in the most awkward of areas. So our pool matches are saved on both Wii and SD card; chances are you'll find games 1-2 on the SD card and 3 on wii or some mad jumble like that. It was the hacked Wii with infinite replay.

I'll do my shoutouts in a bit while I unwind here.

I pretty much only played Luigi and ROB.
A single one with Green Luigi, the others were Waluigi costume and my ROB was blue.

Very good tournament, organisation and room, was quite enjoyable, even though I have regrets about every single match I lost in pools/brackets D: Thanks for hosting, Buenob, and, most of all, thanks for the beer. <3

Hope to see some of you guys in Montreal later this month at FFYF 2!

Freaking_Luigi: oh lol for some reason I got confused and thought your SWF name was LuigiKing. I dun kno why anyway I hope you made it back to Kingston alright, and enjoyed your first tourney. Don't get discouraged if you weren't playing as well as you'd hoped, it's always like that, I'm sure you'll find the experience was worth it. Fun driving with you.

PNDMike: lol @ sonic vs. jiggs..... I guess we still say it's even? Since we (well mostly you) were just messing around experimenting in the matches, it's kinda hard to conclude anything... but I'm gonna post the replays and we can rethink what strategies worked and what didn't. Good to see you again.

Ally: someday, a Sonic will rise from our ranks and vanquish your Falcon! I can't believe I got hit by those knees... you played different than other Falcons lol. thanks tons for the MM it was fun

A lot of us were sick Apologies to any Montrealers/Torontonians who caught the sickness going around Ottawa; it's very nasty and it takes a while to recover from. I'm still not 100% better and it's been a week already.

Ally: Congrats on first. I don’t remember us even playing though, even at zaf’s. Maybe I have amnesia.

Chesterr01: You looked so down during the weekend, cheer up. You performed great with Fox. Upthrow lolz.

Kage: Fsmash my hitbox more. I am so happy I didn’t have to face you in tournament, somehow I would have lost…somehow.

Zaf: I owe you a thanks for the lift, and a thanks for beating the warrior (although we were so far apart in the bracket the whole time). Diddy is gay.

RaIph: Thanks a lot for the lift back, it was a very entertaining trip. I think Dr. Nightmare is slightly better than Master Sergio now. It was so funny when I was awake with Ben and Ambrose, and he was telling Ambrose he could stay as long as he needs to, and you just pop out of your sleep and announce “I’m ready to go anytime!” and wake everyone up. LOL!

Steb: MONEY BACK! You dominated this tournament, share me your secrets of owning in tournaments. Leave out the part where video recording is involved. We did fantastic in teams, very well coordinated. I don’t think double MK is as bad as I thought it was at the time after re-watching the videos, I think it was just a case of us getting bad beats. Oh well.

Bento: Way to hold up the pool! You need to work on that Marth matchup, Moses wrecked you.

Agora: Didn’t really play or follow you during the tournament, sucks that you didn’t do well though I thought you could really surprise a lot of people. Next time.

Stef: Nice placement for your first tournament. You surprised a lot of people. You really mindgamed us when you CP’d Luigi’s Mansion on KingAce; we had all thought you won a game and were about to take out KingAce!

Cemo: From what I heard you got a lot better at spamming Bair. You should try out G&W’s other moves sometime. You sounded like such a satisfied customer this morning LOL! “Oh, I apparently have to ask for the coffee that’s included with my breakfast?”


Ottawa:

Buenob: THANK YOU for organizing this tournament despite being on your deathbed. You did a great job and we all truly appreciate it, and I’m personally looking forward to the next one! Thanks a lot for the housing, the beer, and the hospitality as well; you made this event very enjoyable for all of us. Your R.O.B. is like a mix between Thad’s uber campy robot and Holy’s aggressive machine. Why is it that every good R.O.B. player has to have some sort of subtle difference in their playstyle that just messes with me? . I’ll get you next time! Get better soon.

Fogel: Great seeing you again Cam, too bad we didn’t have those Ike dittos. I was going to test my triple Forward Smash combo on you (I’ve been practicing).

IvanEva: Pretty decent Lucas. I wasn’t expecting to lose the match because I have a lot of Lucas experience from Steb. That being said, his Lucas is a lot more dynamic than yours; I find he’s harder to space against, but you’re a lot more patient. Marth on Norfair was not fun at all, you actually made me waste a ban on Moses just because I didn’t want to see that again

Jiggernaut: Thanks for serving me in my warmup match.

Linkshot: Thanks for the Mario ditto MM, it was fun. Like I said, you need to set up the kills better, either through prediction or zoning. It’s got potential, but the key is to have style. Be fluid and unpredictable (or untouchable) with Mario and the victories will just come to you.

Zylem: HOW DARE YOU Shin Shoryuken my poor *** after I idiotically UpB for absolutely no reason in midair. GG’s all around; it was an intense spacing game.

Moses: Funky Marth. I heard from your friends that you had a unique style, so I tried playing it relatively safe at the start to try and get a feel for it. You have this knack of doing an aerial point blank yet pseudo-wavelanding into tipper distance. Faked me out so much (although I never got tippered )! Crafty Marth.

SAUS: Always fun to hang around, I think you’re the happiest Ottawa player ever. We never got to play save teams, oh well. Your attacks probably would have gone through my ****ing shield.

Kaze: Fun games. If you ever get that T-Shirt made please let me know, I want to buy one!

Switch: Thanks for bringing your dazzle. We make a great team :D

Arsenic: Jesus, how are you so tall?

Team Seven: Good to meet you guys. You're from Ottawa, eh? It's a wonder I haven't met you before, you should go out to the biweeklies and stuff. (Although there's no point now, since I'm gone lol) If I can give you some tips, use Snake as the killer more, and use him for support for your teammate, let him zone the opponents. Limit the battlefield so that we have less safe areas to fight use it to your advantage. That's my role in the battle, and it can be hard to set up with two Snakes fighting it out. Also, Japes is great for Falco in singles, but in doubles he loses most of the effectiveness, and the high ceiling will end up hurting him more. No offense or anything, I just like when people tell me stuff like this so I know what to focus on. It was def fun, sorry about the delay to the lost controller.
Team KingAce (not to be confused with the ACTUAL KingAce): I <3 you guys. I think we discussed this enough that we don't really need to talk about it.
Team Jack and Ben: Oh man I got *****. You guys are too good
Team SAUSenic: I <3 you guys, but massive controller johns. We need to have a rematch for all the marbles at some point. (ALL OF THEM, I SAY!)

Buenob: My Snake was way off, but I hope even in my state I was improving since we last faced each other. You need to hold an only Battlefield tourney, lol, that's what it came down to. By the time brackets started (and I was sleeping and stuff) I really didn't care about the matches. You're too cool, and we have to party next time I'm back.
Jiggernaut: I should have let you through, I'm sorry. By the time pools was ending, I was ready to quit, you still had a lot of fight in you. I'm sorry to beat you and then do what I did, I feel like such a **** but I still heart you this much <_________>. I can safely say that you're Jiggs is now better than mine with the most utmost of confidence, and I think you'reon your way to becoming the absolute best with her now. Keep repping her hard, I'm slowly bringing her back way more. Again, I'm really sorry.

BentoBox: Man, I want to have an actual match with you sometime. I had my cool moments, but I was so full of fail that I'm sorry to disappoint. Next time I see you we'll get some friendlies in, eh? I have to make sure my Jiggs is still up to par and avenge my Snakefail. ^_^ You play so different from Niko, it's awesome to see such wide variations on playstyle. You're still cool, and seeing you makes my miss my dreads WAY more.

OH, AND NIKO LEFT MY PURPLE GC CONTROLLER BEHIND. DOES ANYONE HAVE IT? IT HAS ABSOLUTELY NO DISTINGUISHABLE MARKINGS, BUT IT SUCKS HARD AND SOMETIMES WON'T DASH TO THE LEFT.

Ah just thought I'd throw in some comments on things since I haven't gotten around to doing so yet. Good job to Unholy Alliance and KingAce/Ambrose for some **** good doubles finals, and congrats to Ally for winning (even though I had to leave early and didn't get to see it). Also, thanks to Ben for organizing this whole thing, and to everyone who kicked my arse in that death pool I had.

As always, good to see ya again, PND, and Retlaf busting out the piano playing was awesome (hey, gotta give kudos to that). All in all, yeah, I had a good time and hopefully this'll go down again. Oh, and thanks to everyone I played friendlies against for the advice.

Yeah, I wanted to shout out you Tyler but my post was too long, so you get an honorary shout.

Also, I was saving some replays of my Falcon dittos and other Falcon shenanigans on station 3(?). I was White/Pink Falcon, and I think I did some wicked stuff and would love the footage to verify if what I did was or wasn't awesome / manly / impressive / or sexy.
