Toon Link Match-up Video and Critique Thread

Marth is tricky you really want ot mix it up be campy for a min then charge him while your stuff is in the air then bait him and so on. hes a tank with a sword so just play it safe.

But to you Copacetic i think you were doing good you play like i play. i really dont like this match up but to be honest i think the place where you messed up is just killing. i mean yea its hard to kill a wario but when he down B-ed off the stage to get back and then you Fair-ed(2:00-2:11) you most likely could have Upsmashed and got that kill.

dont use Fsmash so much.

Nope not wifi. I just didn't have a chance to play all summer until now so my reactions are slow. I can finally start training again though, so I'll be getting a lot better.

Just curious on why there is some black screens for a couple of seconds, and why you did put the combo twice. (up smash into a bomb on FD against TL) Some of it is pretty cool though.

@oni: from your peach battle you werent spacing your Zairs properly you kept getting hit by her Dair or other of her aerials, you should use more Utilt as it is very helpful from this matchup, need more Nairs and quickdraws (since Nairs are more quicker) keep pressuring peach with projectiles then mix it up.

Oni your TL is good but you're making foolish mistakes that shouldn't be made.

Oh and just pointing out to other people that you want to put up close matches or losses so that it's easier to give critiquing or advice.

Lolz great match Jerm, basically played that match by the book. Top notch spacing and avoiding Warios obvious kill moves, living to about 180%, good shiz!

Criticism: You did a grounded bomb pull once in the first stock.

I saw the second match, and right off the bat, you were at a disadvantage. Falco on Jungle Japes = 90:10 TL (Not really, but it's bad).

Anyways, I'll be frank with you. Your reactions are slow. You play the game slowly and you're very predictable. Zair is unreliable in Jungle Japes, since it just clings on to everything. It's only good for movement purposes, not for attacking.

That's all I got. Nice finisher.

To move faster, you have to react faster, which means you have to make decisions faster. To mix up your game, try to learn more than one way to deal with every situation. For example, find more than one way to attack an enemy from below the ledge, when recovering high, when below, when rushing, when whatever.

Check the Toon Link boards on smashboards for some tips and tricks. Overall, your TL seems like it's coming along, but projectiles were poorly used and Zair was not at all put to it's full potential. Oh... It's just that I play very offensive/agressively.

On the other vids that I posted a while ago (LONG time ago) a lot of other TL mains said I needed to "work on" my defense. It seems that I am the "less defensive" of the Toon Link mains. Beserking, relentless assault--It's just how i love to play, and I continuously prove that i am no reckless idiot either. I hope you guys like. Plus there are only about 6' ish pika matchup vids anyway, so I hope to contribute my fair share.

It helps that my bro is a good pika main and used to be spring/summer Pika Community Top 10 PR in nation (recently changed due to being on hiatus... but not for long... hehe).

being defensive with TL isn't "bad" it's just TL has a few laggy moves that you have to watch out for when playing aggro which to took to mind and played very well.
