Almost every other character has a dedicated video thread so it's about time ROB gets one. I intend to gather here all the best ROB videos on the internet. This is not the place for every ROB video, however. I always find it annoying when I look for videos for a character and I have to sift through a bunch of crappy ones by random people to find some good ones. I don't mean that I'm only gonna be putting vids of the pros on here, but the ROB player has to really know what they're doing and be playing at a tournament level.

I'm going to organize the 1v1s by character matchup. I think this is the best way to find useful information, since most people are gonna be coming here to learn about a specific matchup. It's still early in Brawl's life so for now I'm gonna fill whatever gaps I can with decent players until I find high-level matches with every character. Matches in *bold are the best matches in each matchup (open to discussion of course).

I don't have enough time to review every single one, so help me out! I can't stand playing popular characters, ugh. I never did especially well in a tourney with my GW, but it did get a lot more attention from people than the random foxes and falcos. I also got challenged to quite a few money matches and won them all Also, I have to admit, until the moment he was on fire and started shooting his eye lasers, I didn't realize it was ROB either.

In other news, I removed a couple of so-so vids. I haven't seen any good ROB vids pop up in quite a while, and I've been fairly diligent. All the good players going back to melee or something?

Chozen, were you at Chu's this weekend? Did anyone good use ROB? (I know that no one who placed well used him much, if at all, which is why I ask so I can know what happened to those ROB players who didn't make it) I guess all the really good people went with DDD Wolf and Metaknight huh =/

@Caesar: post your vids when you get em recorded. it won't be indulgent, it'll add credibility, esp once you start taking other vids down. Just don't post like.......38 of the same 2 matchups [I've seen some vid threads with a certain player vs. Zelda section go out to like "Link #22" or something @_@]

...and Lucario, you say. hmm. so the tornado isn't as much an issue for him? Poor giant freakin ROB. Even when I smash DI and dodge out of it...by the time I'm done dodging, a tiny part of him gets caught back up in it

Yes indeedy.. the tornado is quite g@Y and even if you shield it correctly and attempt a Usmash out of shield, more often than not you will still get caught at the end of it and gyros unfortunatly are not very effective against MK either.. other than neutralizing his groundgame... o wait >_> that doesn't matter.

Lucario can keep up w/ MK in the air, combo him about as well as MK can combo him, and his Dair is the BEST combo-breaker in the game.. nd shadow balls are too good ^_^

OH and EVERYONE: If my eyes didn't deceive me last night, if MK is on a platform and you try to usmash...and he does a dsmash and even hits your flames with his sword? he wins. but if you're DIRECTLY under him...then it's all good. so be 100% on point with your usmashes. my favorite is to glide-toss upsmash

If you're asking about MD/VA ROB mains, the only two I know of (other than you and me) are Voodoo and a friend of BTree (can't remember his name). Voodoo's probably the best though I have yet to see yours.

I don't get the chance to play except for at tournaments so I'm really hesitant to put up any vids of my own ROB. I dunno if I could keep up with any of the ROBs in the vids in this thread. I need a crew

haha, I'm too lazy to go to the guide to ask this next question: what do you do against a Sonic on FD or Smashville? Mostly problems on FD [only played a few matches but that stupid homing crap threw me off and I didn't know what to do =/]

Nair/Fair.. its not very quick.. so you should see it coming... and if you're that worried about sonic's blueball crap then stay underhim.. his Dair has way too much starting lag to disrupt a correctly timed Uair. GG

I hate camping with ROB. It's no fun AT ALL. I played against a DDD yesterday and ALL he did was throw those little *****es at me. And I couldn't do much else beyond spam until I got close enough. One of the least enjoyable [and no not on "fun" scale, even on the advanced level] And I hate JUST camping the ledge [drop down, charge gyro, regrab. drop, jump, laser, regrab. drop, jump, gyro/mindgames/whatever]. Gives ROBs a bad name.


About Sonic: does your utilt out prioritize his B-moves? and man I didn't even think about aerials/usmash out of shield. I guess I didn't know what to do because he's able to change the timing of release for moves like Neutral-B

Yeah! And if Chu is holding a Melee/Brawl weekend event the next weekend I might go to that. I'm not sure which one I'm going to though. I'd like to go to C3 only because it's more spacious and Chu's gets really **** suffocating. It really depends on what my friends think. But I'll see if I can bring my boy Schoolie Dee, the other SoVa ROB main. And we LOVE crew battles =D Hopefully I'll have some vids posted of both of us before that tourney so everyone can feel confident of an all ROB crew. That'd be insane and fun as hell. Unless of course...we go up against a G&W or MK crew ;____;

Hahaha, maybe we won't advertise it as an all ROB crew, we'll just convene, and then be like alright we just formed a crew, who wants to battle? Then they give us their list and we just hand them a poorly drawn picture of ROB. That way whoever we challenge won't be like "oh let's be gay and all be MK"

@ Squee - I know that some people can't help their situation [lack of good players in the vicinity or time/money to go to fests/tourneys etc] but for the most part, and I think a lot of people feel the same, when it comes to vids on character threads [or just vids in general], if I see that it's a WiFi match, unless it's something that couldn't happen often like Azen vs...**** I dunno, Captain Jack...then I probably won't watch much of the video. Not because it won't be good. But mostly [and this is esp for character specific threads], I don't want to learn things and deceive myself into believing that these tactics will work against people when I'm face to face with them. Example: I don't want to think that ROB's dash attack has so little lag that you can attack someone's shield and still hit them before they can shield grab you.

Make sense? So yea keep workin at it and record some non-WiFi matches =D

Alright there's a new idea I'm toying with now ... a Player's Profile section, which would basically have some tidbits about some of the ROB players featured in the videos. I'd like the players to write their own profile, and just talk about things like their playstyle, some of their favorite combos or strategies, their personal favorite or least favorite matchups (and why), some of their tourney experiences with ROB (obviously pretty limited right now), why they chose to become ROB mains, and of course which color they use. Anything else they'd like to say is of course welcome.

I think this would help ROB players get better acquainted with the competitive ROB community, and also highlight some of the different styles being used by the top ROB players. This may be a dumb idea but if any of the top ROB players featured in the videos here would like to create their own player profile, I'll put it up in the first post. It would really help us worship you guys better especially since this thread is stickied now.

haha, good idea, though I really think it should be something you do through PMs. Meaning you choose whose profiles you want posted or are curious about, PM that player, then he/she replies accordingly. It'd help prevent a lot of nonsense from being posted here based on delusions of ROB grandeur..

haha I actually know the Wolf player personally and if I recall correctly, he had already been going through online brackets or something for like 14 hours [maybe an exaggeration? not sure] and then he got to the finals and everyone was like **** IT WE WANT TO CROWN A GRAND CHAMP and he just said "/sigh".
take that and add online johns and Overswarm-ROB-skill-esp-against-Wolf johns =D
