i dont know what this achieves...

we've had alot of these before and they've never worked.

people go into the servers regardless of whos in there, so i dont know how this list of players will help create matches
Yet you made yourself a sticky, This one better works... :dizzy:

Jaime: I did this because although I don't think many people use them they're still going to be opened. Doing this while still having a worthwhile thread for general discussion makes less random threads altogether

First post updated, Hamachi network is now open too

Since apparently, I can't tell what kind of stuff goes here [since topics get locked], I might as well ask this question here.

Anyone who's played me knows I lag. Usually around 60FPS with frequent spikes to 57FPS [sometimes it's worse, but that's the best I get]. I COULD blame my internet, but smoothing usually doesn't fix the problem, so it's not really internet related. I also notice that the same lag happens offline as well, it's only a LITTLE more severe online, so it has to be my computer.

My computer specs [what matters] are:
2 GHz Dual Core [2 CPUs]
3 GB of RAM
Windows Vista 32bit
Intel GMA X3100 graphics card.

I was guessing it might have been because PJ64k is single threaded so it's only using 1 CPU, but setting priority to high does NOTHING to lag, so that's not the problem. RAM is overkill even for Vista, so that's not the problem either. So, I'm thinking it's the graphics card. Problem is, it's irreplaceable because this is a low end laptop, so I got to go software size.

So, I think the only attempt I can do is a different plugin. I don't care if the game looks hideous, I just want to be able to play without any spikes or extreme slowdowns. I don't think desynching should be too much of a problem, simply because it's a graphics plugin [it does not emulate the stuff that matters for Kaillera]. I tried Rice, but the game was much slower, so it might have been a different version or I dunno.

So, any suggestions? If I can't fix this, I might as well quit trying to be good in 64, since I'm starting to notice it when I play, and I can only imagine how other people higher up feel it.

Superstar, Vista = your problem

Vista is a huge resource hog. You can try scanning for spyware/malware/virus'
Also sort through all of your running processes, see which ones aren't needed and stop them from running.
Try running mupen compared to PJ, it takes up more memory.. but if it runs smoother than PJ you know PJ is just unstable running on your vista

I know Vista is a huge resource hog, but 3GB of RAM is more than enough. If it's CPU hogging though, I can kinda get it, but setting priority to high does nothing [setting priority means that the CPU will attend to it more]. So I dunno if stopping processes will do anything.

Unstability of PJ seems to be a better cause, but since Mupen's FPS gauge is poopy, I'd need to fight someone good so they'd tell me. But, Mupen gets slowdowns offline and online last I remembered, but I don't know if it's jumpy.

it must be your internet. Your computer is very fast. PJ64k doesnt take THAT much of resources and Vista has nothing to do with it

Might be internets, but it also lags offline. Not as much, but the same lag happens offline.

Just tested it offline against a CPU [just to have a fake match]. It's normal, except for slight occasional dips in framerate. Not as bad as online, so it's a combination of instability on my computer, and bad internet.

It's the slowest broadband available. Like 200kbps.

Also, although my comp is dual core, PJ64k is single threaded, so the best it will have to itself is 2Ghz. Depends on how much it relies on the graphics card, I know my graphics card is a piece of poop.

Try cleaning up your computer for virus/adwares and useless stuff. Make sure you have the best controller for your graphics card.... Or buy a Nvidia GeForce. Your PC is much more than enough fast to run PJ64k at optimal performance

Did that recently. I keep mah PC cleans.

Best controller for graphics card? I don't think whether I use a 360 controller or a GCN controller matters. XD

Also, it's a lowend laptop. Meaning, graphics card is irreplaceable. I would if I could, I'd like to be able to get better FPS in TF2.
