Update: Footage gathering "complete". I know I failed to add a few codes so I will be doing that over the course of today and you're free to send me what you can when you can. I'm recording stuff as of now but that doesnt mean the door is closed, especially due to my negligence. I thank those of you that have sent me stuff.












Part One: Okay I need people to send me their replays. Send me a large abundance of them so I can pick and choose between clips. Comboking sent me some stuff but I didn't check through it just yet.

Note that the people allowed on this video is not specified. That means if I didn't specifically name you in a previous post you weren't pre/excluded.

I'd rather the .bin files so I can just play the replays myself BUT if you're going to just send me the video, I'm doing this in 16:9 so I'm asking for THE VERY LEAST a 640 by 360 resolution.

I'll be taking footage for the next 2 weeks so you have time to do something amazing or whatever. If something awesome happens just end the match if you know it's gonna go over 3 minutes and you dont have homebrew. Thank you.

well I haven't had any matches recorded of me in a while, what about videos that are already on youtube? Ripping them off I mean...or I can situate things and make it seem like it was a intense match LOL.

I uploaded a clip from one of my videos to Rapidshare; is the quality good enough for you? If it is then I'll get more clips and upload them.

Your video quality is more than good enough, metroid. If you can capture them with your game aspect ratio set to 16:9 I can change the aspect ratio for editing accordingly.

At Apex my Melo is bringing his set up so I am gonna friendly a lot on it so I can get some videos up. I am going olimar in singles though SORRY!!

How would one know if they have an awesome enough moment to be used in the vid without it being to redundant? Also does it matter if its on or offline (Im sure off is prefered). Finally how long will the video be?

I'm pretty sure it really doesn't matter...it's your choice. But if you find something that rarely happens or out of the ordinary...save it.

It doesn't need to be stuff that I do, the point is to sort of showcase different but effective playstyles (I usually exhibit this by stating that Kirk taught me how to play ike but we don't really play alike at all. Ninjalink threw me a ton of pointers later on as my playstyle developed but it's rather evident we don't play alike either.)

It doesn't need to be like that sort of "wow they got *****" caliber but this is the most recent example I found. Metroid's sample was like 3 or 4 hits but it was definitely worth putting up.

I was recently thinking about this video that we are compiling and I just realized an important aspect of it. The music. I figure we can have people submit their songs of choice and as a community we can vote on which songs to use. While sometimes songs are just put in there, other people try to fit the music with the sequences going on in the video. It's really up to this community and Ryko on what we end up doing with the music. Music can range anywhere from Techno, Rap, Rock, Pop, Video Game, and etc...

Also, keep in mind that there will be roughly 3 songs used since the video might be pretty long. Also, keep in mind that if we use mainstream of popular music, it might get muted by youtube. Unless you don't care about that, feel free to post whatever it is you want.

Hey Ryko, have you added me yet?

And the song I would want in the most isn't even on youtube except a crappy live taped-on-a-cell-phone quality video. >_<

Before people start jumping on the Christian part and going "lulz no church music pls": You can't tell except for the lack of swear words. Thats it. Sounds like any other type. I've had people listen to it, they couldn't tell it was Christian. In fact, they didn't believe me.

Why: Good beat, favorite song, favorite band, and the lyrics work well IMO for this video. (Time to kill - You're not worth a second of my time! - Why are you fighting for your life? - You're already dead! Full set is in the more info tab) And it's shortish (2:43), so if you find another short song you can have 4 instead of 3.

Personally, I was a huge fan of the music in Kirk's "Crimean Sonata." Full score and truly epic. His choice of music was what made that video for me. For serious. We want something epic, right? Give it some epic music.

I agree with Bored; the song itself is okay, but I don't think it's (for lack of a better word) epic enough for a combo video; it doesn't have that hype factor.

A little to screamo for my taste, but I don't know about other people's. You're right about it having a good beat, but in terms of musicality I personally find don't find it appealing (no offense intended).

This song truly is epic, but I think it's too short; if you listen carefully, you can tell that 0:15 is the same as 1:00. It would be great to use for the introduction or if we want to use several songs. Other than that, I think it's excellent; I like it the best out of the songs suggested so far.

There are a lot of Guilty Gear songs that I feel would be appropriate for a combo video.

Song: Suck a Sage
Genre: Rock
Reason: It has a great beat, a cool melody (in my opinion), and I think more people find rock acceptable compared to a genre like rap.

Song: The Decisive Battle (SSH Remix)
Genre: Techo/Rock
Reason: There's a LOT going on in this song in terms of voices and notes; even with perfect pitch (the ability to name a note upon hearing it), I can't tell what's going on all the time because of the sheer number of notes and the crazy speed at which they are played. I also think that this is a nice blend of rock and techno, which might appeal to more people.

Song: Midnight Dragon
Genre: Techno/Rock
Reason: It might be a little heavy for some people (this is probably my own limit) and is a bit short, but it has a pretty driving feel to it (moreso than the other songs I suggested so far). It's also in the form of A-B-C-C'-A'-B', so it won't be too repetitive for the listener.

Most importantly though, I think we must keep in mind that Rykoshet is the one who will be creating this video; regardless of how much we as a community like a song, he shouldn't be compelled to use it if he doesn't like it.

All 3 of those songs are very good. I like fast music btw like Dragonforce but all their songs are to long.

I'll start off with Metroid's first on my analysis

First song (Why is it called Suck a Sage? lol) is really nice and I can see it being put into the video and matching with a lot of moments in the video.

Second song picks up the pace and well...in some areas it might be too fast unless Ryko makes it happen in terms of placing the footage accordingly.

Third song, digging the part from :45 to 1:05. But the overall song is too fast, and unless the clips are composed of short quick features coming at you rapidly, the song might struggle with the "longer clips".

Overall, I think the first song was the best out of all those 3, but that's just my opinion. And yes, like I stated earlier, in the end, it's Ryko's decision.

Nintendofreak, I like some screamo music, but I don't think it's appropriate. Heck, my favorite band is part screamo and part singing...and I would never use a song from them lol...it wouldn't make sense. But I can see where you are coming from. Should the music match Ike's epicness or should it match his sheer destruction? The music can shape how one perceives the video or character.

Comboking...not into the choir stuff. And it is too slow.

King of the Sky: It's a good song, but as you said, it's a bit slow at some points.

The Strong: I really like this one; if we were to use a lot of different songs, I think this one would work very well.

The Devoted: It's a cool song to listen to, but I don't really feel the driving hype that a combo video song should have. It'd be cool to use this when we are introducing the players though.

Petrified - Interesting... I usually don't like rap much, but this song I didn't find to be distasteful. It's not not my exactly my favorite style of music, but I think it would work well as a song for the video.

Pompeii - This song is epic. I really hope we use this one, I've always liked the song but never really know what it was called.

Sweet Cake Galaxy - This song would be good to use as a blooper song, but I think its Mario-ness make it inappropriate for our purposes.

Space Junk Galaxy - I could see this working as a credits song; unlike the other one, you can't really tell it's from a Mario game without actually playing through the game it came from.

I'm almost done with arranging what clips I want to submit; I have about 5 min total that I think would be okay, but I'm going to try and cut down on it. I'm sorry if they're not in the 16:9 aspect ratio, these are clips that I have compiled since I obtained the recording device I use now.

Also, are you going to do something to make it clear which players are being featured (player's name in the corner of the scene or something), or are you just going to say in the credits who the players were? I think it should be up to you to decide, but I'm just curious.
