Well guys, we finally finished Beta 4. After much testing, deliberation, arguments, sweat, and hardwork we have finally come out with a codeset we have agreed upon. Beta 4 focuses on balance changes since we have all the physics of Brawl+ in place. Since Beta 4 is all about balance changes we have decided to start a new topic in order to centralize all the ideas and post. Think of it as a fresh slate.

This way new players can also jump right in instead of having to search through pages upon pages of discussion. The old Brawlplussery should be locked here soon. Now, on with what you guys really care about!

In order to use Beta 4, you will need to have the Gecko_Brawl app for homebrew. The balance changes took us over the original line limit, and Gecko_Brawl gives us 430 lines! You can download it here:

http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?gfnzmwmymvo

Unzip it, ignore the MACOSX and move the folder into the apps folder so it looks like this on your SD card:

apps > geckoos_brawl.

Don't replace the old Gecko. A video should be up shortly for those that might not understand. Now, here is a link to the .GCT

http://www.mediafire.com/?sharekey=2a7a290714633cd57f7ec40ada4772a6f33bef9e0ca16e64b8eada0a1ae8665a

And that it! Just load up Gecko_Brawl when you start Homebrew and enjoy our newest set! We hope you guys enjoy the newest set!! We can't wait to hear what you guys have to say about all the balance changes. The second post will include all of the changes.

Sadly we don't have a JPN or PAL codeset at this moment in time. Almas spent so much timing trimming codes to get this set onto Gecko_Brawl.

Snapshots are perfectly legal and work just fine with Beta 4. For the time being we are gonna stick with Gecko_Brawl though. Snapshots should be used by those that want textures though.

I thought this required a snapshot? What did we trim to get it back to 430 lines?

Also, this is a huge step forward from 3.3 -- anyone that has been using 3.3 needs to check this out NAO!

A new Plussery was started since it was getting so large. As SHeLL said, this is a HUGE change from Beta 3.3. A lot of new balance changes and stuff. Starting a new topic gives new players a way to get right into the the discussion too. Now they don't need to wade through 1000s of posts.

This is the Plusery set, we're just publicising the release this way. Once the codeset has been converted to PAL and JPN, we'll be posting it in the official thread so that everyone can enjoy it.

could you post the text file? cause I would like to add other codes as well (unrestricted camera, settings mod, CSS, etc.) and use it with the texture hacks and the codes-in-image hack.
also, what is the difference between gekoOS and geko_Brawl? just the limit?

Correct, gecko_Brawl has 430 lines for use with Brawl only.

Gotcha, makes sense can't wait to upgrade! I'll do it really soon. One question though, is the CSS the one that includes individual Pokemon? Because if it is, it seems dumb to have single pokemon AND a versatile Trainer. There should only be one or the other (I vote normal Trainer and individual Pokemon).

Single Pokemon (squirtle, charizard, ivysaur) are 'wild'. They don't switch on death and you don't need to hear from that annoying PKMN Trainer. When you select the actual Pokemon Trainer then you not only switch on death, you can switch with a Down-B. It makes the choice between Wild or Trainer Pokemon that much more of a choice.

I must have worded my comment strangely, I saw this:

- Pokémon Trainer has Infinite Stamina and Pokemon no longer swap on death
As well as the CSS code as included in the codeset. I remember at one time, the CSS that was included had Wild Pokemon as well as the Trainer, and was wondering if this was the case here as well. The only point of the Wilds is to balance the ability to play as one Pokemon the whole time, so if the Trainer has Infinite Stamina, it defeats the purpose of the Wild Pokemon.

Last beta codeset I got was about 480 lines. What did you guys take out to make the 430 line limit?

Almas reengineered the char specific code to be about 15 lines. Its awesome.

We realized that a lot of the things we were using were unnecessary and were also able to get a shorter version of the existing character physics code. We made the changes that made the most sense balance-wise, which included removing certain buffs or nerfs for some characters.

Seriously? Wow.

Could you guys provide the txt, though? I would also like to make a few changes. Or is this the same codeset in your mediafire page?

I realised that many of the methods myself and spunit use for comparing Hitbox/character/animation IDs are similar across codes, and managed produce a fourth code for the sole purpose of data comparison, freeing up the lines used for them in the other codes. Ended up saving quite a lot.

As one who has been in the chatroom working behind the scenes, I'm going to have to say that everything is turning out great! I'm really happy with how this set came about.

I can't wait for this, I'll download it asap, but will textures work when loaded through gecko_Brawl?
Guess I gotta find out.

You'll have to use Snapshots to fit textures. I assume you have been doing this before, so you should know how to convert my GCT to a .BIN.

EDIT: Swordplay, that's weird. Maybe your computer screwed up the download. Try someone else, like Sonic or Ganondorf. I'll investigate.

I reckon beta4 is an april fools joke. Why else is there no txt? XD
The text is up.

EDIT: @polkin I am unsure what may be causing the corrupt data. You are using the BrawlTweaker I assume? Last I saw you had v9, personally I never upgraded from v8 so I can't help. I assume you have asked in that topic.

Yeah, and I can't tell which code is which.

Sorry to be a bother, but I really wanna use a couple of other codes as well, and I'm using snapshots for textures anyway. So would you mind uploading the other txt, the one with the names of the codes?

No labels? That'll make it pretty hard to turn off frozen stages and Lugi's Plot of unused Land

Sorry, that's the text I have. I can go through and read the codes and mark em up, it's just gonna take a little bit of time to read em. Luigi's Deadlands was removed to make space to fit on Gecko_Brawl FYI.

FINALLY GOT IT TO WORK RIGHT!

I get Link issues when I use the double GCT method. It must be something with the ASM codes.
If you're getting those issues, use geckoBrawl or the snapshot method. if you're going to use snapshot method use v0093 of brawlplustweaker

I like this though. It feels smoother. Backwards Crapton Falcon Knee is awesomesauce
