Toon Link Matchup Thread

Howdy Toon Links,

This will be the new matchup thread, Twink told me to make a new thread as opposed to taking over the old one.

The OP looks very similar to S@nt's, but there are a couple differences.
- To get to the thread for any particular character, click on their icon.
- To get to the post containing the summary for any character, click on the ratio text.
- The character in bold red is currently being discussed, click on the bold red text to go to that thread.
- The * means that the summary has become somewhat out of date, and will need to get rediscussed at some point.

A very key point I would like to make: The MU ratios shouldn't be taken too seriously when looking at a certain Matchup. The Pros/Cons are the key factors in determining the gameplay for each Matchup.

Yeah, we need to rediscuss some of these things. The idea that Toon Link only has three bad matchups is completely lulzy

Well, olimar being even was declared after everyone jumped on the hyro bandwagon. :/ I always said it should be 60-40. Now that Im not in charge of matchup discussions (woohoo!) I would like to give my ratios on every matchup. I doubt Ill keep up with the export threads, so thats why I do it.

We really gotta discuss Diddy and ICs again.

I mean...really? When do top Toon Links beat top Diddies? It's not even...

And IC's might be close, but we definitely don't have the advantage.

The thing with the IC's is that we have all the tools to beat them. We can run run run away and keep them away forever. Even when we get grabbed, we still have options (assuming you have a boomerang out or a bomb in hand).

The stars next to Kirby and Diddy are more that the summaries need to get changed because of some pretty obvious old info.

Diddy's summary says to ban Mansion and CP to Norfair.

I think mansion isn't being used too much, and norfair (even though I agree it's a solid CP), is probably gonna stay in banned.

Nah, there is some pretty good data supporting norfair. I think it'll become a counterpick.

okay cool just making sure you guys have the same opinion as me or some what close to wat i been doing. i play a ZSS main on the daily and i gotta stay in his face nd pressure him , if not then sideB's and upair's all day -____- . its okay because we can kill her earlier as well, with bairs, nairs, upair, upsmash, etc

no i mean as a kill period. i noticed that i like to play around with ZSS, like ill go from playing real aggro and then just walk / run away and begin to camp. even though she can camp as well. he gets mad and begins to chase me and TRIES get in my face xD

This is just one ZSS' habit during game play.

General aspects of the MU should be discussed.

The challenge with the ZSS matchup falls under keeping your Toon Link grounded so you can shield stuff. Toon Link is an aerial character, so knowing when and how to punish all of her moves really comes in handy.

Let's let Falco and Ness get cleared off page 1, Unless there's really more discussion that need to happen. I think they're pretty much done, but the ness thread keeps getting bumped.

I attempted to make a poll on the OP, I don't think I have the necessary permissions through smashboards to make one, so Twink/Action Panda might need to do it. I'd say next up would be a choice between

Pit, R.O.B., Peach, Redo Olimar since everyone's salty bout it, or Other.

I'd say Pit or ROB first, but Peach's section of the tier list would be coming up next.

Toon Link having some form of an advantage over Wolf I highly disagree. Even or slightly in Wolf's favor would be more accurate, a good Wolf can out camp a spammy Tink. also ROB no way it's in ROB's favor he's got way more range is harder to kill sure you can out camp ROB with Tink but ROB beats Tink in many ways. MR Game and Watch I disagree with that one too he's got way more priority better hit boxes spam isn't as useful because he's in the air the whole time. Falco even... Get lost

I could agree with wolf being even. More than half of the cast gives us more "trouble" than wolf though.

ROB is an easy fix. You don't even have to really camp ROB the entire time to beat him.

Mr GnW straight up gets wrecked by TL. GnWs Priority isn't an issue in this MU. GnW is extremely telegraphed and he should only be able to get a reasonable amount of damage when he is above TL.

Can we do the wolf/fox matchup after pit and rob?

I dunno how much I agree that TL wrecks GnW...The matchup is in TL's favor, but I don't think I would go so far as to warrant wreckage
