this was one of my favorite tournaments ive been to
shady double eliminated velynn 2-1 and 3-2
duck lost one game throughout tournament
shady and i came back two sets against shaeden and velynn to win teams grand finals after getting 3-0'ed in winners

i barely squeezed by the first pool, losing 1-2 to carroll, but he lost to kzhu and juggleguy, both of whom i 2-0'ed
taki, shaeden, and velynn all ***** me in that last losers pool D=

up and coming: TOP DRIVER very impressive
kzhu coming to umich ****
condemned soul and slayertokey were also much better than i had expected

and don't get it wrong, shaeden and velynn are still VERY good
GRATS to duck but he plays gay and samus is broken =p

the new system is good, but as dre says down there, it needs to be run more efficiently. so matches need to be started as pools are filling up.

Perhaps have the pools play out their matches as it's being filled instead of waiting for you to announce them? I think it took a little too long for losers to go through, imo.

This tourney was WAAAAAY too much fun! I can't wait for the next one.

i thinkkk everyone at CoD this weekend enjoyed the hybrid....but alot of ppl wanted it to start first round of losers so they could def be involved in the pools...that was the only complaint we faced....the last pool for us was like: dart, orly, big d, rat...was madddd hype to watch.

Sounds like the hybrid bracket was a good success.

What seed did you get 3rd Rd losers Juggle? I am just trying to figure out how placing #s work.

ps the characters I faced this tournament were:

1 fox
3 jigglypuffs
1 sheik
1 peach
2 marios

not a very good reintroduction to melee

Losers bracket format is much more fair but we need a way to make the process go faster as people in winners bracket (not me) seemed to be waiting forever.

Perhaps the amount of setups contributed in some way, with more helping it go faster.

OMG this was so fun but i learn alot of stuff about match up and my ganon i cant believe i took 33rd not bad for a non experiecne tounrey player good stuff everyone
i did feel a lil salty after we left i will try to go to the next one

wait so none of my mario matches are going to be put up? im not sure when i recorded them but if they are deleted then I will feel mad salty

As for the new bracket style I'd give it a 9/10 Would Buy Again. I think that now that it's been tested, you know how to run it a lot more efficiently, and with the help of a few TO assistants this can move just as fast as a normal double elim. What I really like about it is how it's next to impossible to argue with its placements, and it lets you play more games to get more accurate results. As for some of the potential drawbacks that I discussed with you, Rob, I later realized that in the worst case, it's exactly the same as a normal double elim, so it can only be the same or better.

Hate to break it to ya, but 33rd is last place. The exact placings for places that low aren't played out, so everyone on the bottom just gets '33rd place'.
