12-character battle tournament?

Great in theory, nearly impossible in practice.

I agree ladder would be the way to go but even that will take a long time to do and have substantial data for.

some chess tournaments i've played run like this:

1. give your contact info.
2. get matched up.
3. choose a time of the week to play your opponent.
4. repeat for 6 rounds.
5. high score wins.

stocks could be reduced to 3-4 per character or you could play rounds every day if time is a serious issue?

i'd like to see more formats like this if feasible, as i personally think it would advance the game if we all were playing every character on a serious level rather than becoming specialists... i find that when i bounce around i learn a lot more about the game in general. i'm pretty meh on the whole idea though; just wanted to throw it out there to see what you all thought about it.

edit: yeah i agree that ladder would probably be the way to go if anything comes of this. also, food for thought: isai, jouske & boom (probably the top 3 players in the world) are all superb at 12-character battles; that's probably more than a coincidence. i bet at least some of their strength arises from being well-acquainted with every character.

Reducing stocks really changes how the battle works. If you have a weak character and play someones stronger character, you are bound to take a stock or 2 since you have 5 to play with. But if you only start with 3, they could much more easily run through a character or 2 while only getting up to high % and then resetting to 0% for the next character.

This tournament could totally happen. It would just most likely be an all day thing. I would love to see it happen
