So I picked up SFV the other day because I wanted a Traditional Fighting Game to learn from.

I've found decent success in (okay, not decent but more) purely watching the opponent and not my character. Does anybody else do this?

I'll tottally ignore my character on the screen, besides spacing my moves. Mentality behind this is that I know what my character is doing because I'm controlling her (Cammy).

That's smart, and many players do this. There are other methods, too - some people just look at the center of the screen. It really depends on what works for you.

For real, though, I think using traditional fighters to learn neutral is a pretty good idea since it helps with player mentality.

It's a bit easier in traditional fighters to keep eyes on the opponent since the stage is easier to keep track of, and there's no ledges or platforms.

But why should it? The game favors neutral resets, and that isn't a good or bad thing...it just is.

As you said it just is.....it's why mkleo loses to Ryu. Because Ryu as a character plays on his playstyle and habits which this game teaches and reinforces.

Here, it was a Windbox that killed (because God knows windboxes are as janky as the sky is supposed to be blue).
I knew MM's UAir had really weird properties (I tried to study it a bit), but I never knew it could linger, for any reason there could be. It litterally carried Cloud as he reached the apex of his Rush bounce...

Taiheita can't go to CW due to work, Salem can't go for undisclosed reasons, the fine print on Champ's announcement bars Hyuga from entry ("Top 50 players if allowed" or something specific preventing banned players from attending.)

Greninja is a specialist character. It's not something you can really "secondary" successfully if even the top, dedicated Greninjas don't do much on a consistent basis.

Most of them aren't No-Shows, just people who aren't confirmed to be there yet. We've still got almost a month until we know who the actual no-shows are.

Greninja is a specialist character. It's not something you can really "secondary" successfully if even the top, dedicated Greninjas don't do much on a consistent basis.

Maybe Greninja himself doesn't work as a solo high main, or maybe the Greninja players just aren't all that good (relative to the tiptop of players.)

Did I miss something or since when did any of the miis see any sort of use? I thought the new movesets for them were still in theory craft stage. If not, good for them. Now let's see a Mii swordsman cause I think they may be worse than Jigglypuff.

IDK about Kodystri's Gunner but Flama is The Mii Gunner player, and he uses 1111.

Both Gunner players were using 1111 Gunner. Flama is one of the best Mii Gunner mains in the world while Kodystri/Xanos has a secondary Gunner.

Since I watched part of the Flama vs Zage set, I will give a little bit of set analysis.

Going into the set, I thought that Flama's Pac Man experience and item play would help him win, but Zage managed to get the reverse 3-0 due to strong defensive play that led to at least two timeouts. Both players played well, but there was some online lag that also made the stream difficult to see at times. Flama played well in the neutral with some good item play, very good movement, and good variety of aerials in the neutral. He made a few questionable rolls and dash attacks, but he did a good job of using Gunner's tools such as reflector in order to deal with Pac Man's fruits and hydrants. His biggest problems in the set was killing. Pac Man was able to live a long time in some of the matches in the set, partially because Gunner doesn't have too many reliable killing options and part of it was the fact that he didn't really use some of Gunner's most reliable killing setups. He usually relies on reads when it comes to killing and edgeguarding, and he missed some of the reads that could have won him the set (The fact that they were online could have contributed to this). In addition, he also could have used flame pillar more often to edgeguard Pac Man. Rolling back from the ledge would space flame pillar to cover the ledge, and this would have resulted in greater damage output, and more possible kill setups (The weak hit of flame pillar to charge blast is a kill confirm. In addition, flame pillar covers every option except for roll, and Gunner can punish the roll with an up smash). Furthermore, he could have also went for more fair to charge blast kill setups. It isn't guaranteed, but it is a 50-50 at kill percents. Maybe the use of jab mixups at high percents could have also helped. (Although Pac Man has a combo breaker nair, it doesn't have the range to break Gunner's jab mixups at kill percents. Gunner can also cover other defensive options with his/her attacks). At the moments when Pac Man was at really high percents, he could have also used up throw to seal the stock. Overall, it was a good, defensive set from both players.

I've personally never even heard of a successful greninja pocket or secondary. typically the succesful greninjas are the ones that pretty much solo main or main with a secondary. Speaking of, who are all the notable greninja's again? istudying, Darkaura, Venia, Stroder (strozai) are the ones that come off the top of my head.
