Yeah well...this hasn't been updated in a very long time. Unfortuneately no one should take my advice on Jiggs in THIS guide. It's the exact opposite of what i've said in char. specific.

I wish I had read this guide before I went to OC2, I probally would have done better. One thing that I didnt get was at OC2 I beat the **** out of Falco character (meaning most my wins where against Falco) but your guild says alot of levels link sucks agianst falco.

One more thing, im going to try your statagies against samus, my friend beats me every time he uses Samus.

This is probably the best Link guide I have read.
I didn't expect you to put in combo lists, but I shouldn't complain, should I? Anything that makes us links better is good =]

Hey, Linkmaster here, reading through your guide, I noticed it was detailed which is good for noobs. One thing I notice was for your guide against falcon, to protect from his side-b GRAB that MOFO don't wave dash backwards. He uses side-b against you and you combo the sh*t out of him.

Hey dude, I really liked the guide. I'm a hardcore Link user. ^_^ I like to get my enemy to about 100% and then throw them off an edge and then edge guard with up+B. I know I can get better than that with this guide. Thanks. :)

If you take Aniki's apporach, wavedashing isn't necessary......... and seeing his continuous success, I think i'll b following that road.

IX..Combos

# 1. Slash, Counter Slash, Sword Sweep.

(A,A,Dsmash)

# 2. Slash, Counter Slash, Grab.

(A,A,Grab)

*Note: I find it easier to grab with L + A instead of Z with this combo since it takes perfect timing to perform.

# 3. Grab, Sword Launch Up, Short Hop, Double Kick, Short Hop, Hylian Kick.

(Grab, Up on control stick, Short Hop, Bair, Short Hop, Nair)

# 4. Grab, Sword Launch Up, Half Moon Swipe, Jump, Stab Up.

(Grab, Up on control stick, Utilt, Jump, Uair)

*Note: Tripple Sword Slice is better to use than the Half Moon Swipe on heavy or fast falling characters.

# 5. Grab, Flying Elbow, Sword Sweep, Short Hop, Sword Plant.

(Grab, Down on control stick, Dsmash, Short Hop, Dair)

# 6. Grab, Kick Out, Slash, Grab, Reverse Kick Out, Running Hack.

(Grab, Forward on control stick, A, Grab, Back on control stick, Dash A)

Note: The Running Hack is done very fast and in reverse.

# 7. Running Hack, Short Hop, Double Kick, Short Hop, Hylian Kick.

(Dash A, Short Hop, Bair, Short Hop, Nair)

# 8. Running Hack, Jump, Stab Up (repeat)

(Dash A, Jump, Uair)

# 9. Bomb Throw, Running Hack, Short Hop, Double Kick, Short Hop, Hylian Kick.

(Down – B, Throw forward, Dash A, Short Hop, Bair, Short Hop, Nair)

# 10. Bomb Throw, Sword Slice, Double Sword Slice, Jump, Stab Up (repeat).

(Down – B, Throw forward, Fsmash, Fsmash, Jump, Uair)

#11. IIlusion Stab Combo, Grab (timing must be perfect) Sword Launch, Half Moon Swipe (repeat), Short Hop, Stab Up (repeat)

(A,A,A,A,A etc. Grab, Up on control stick, Utilt, Short Hop, Uair)

Note: This is to be used at the beginning of the battle while your opponent's damage is low.

#12. Grab, Reverse Kick Out, SHFFL Double Kick, Reverse Grab, Flying Elbow, Sword Sweep, Jump, Sword Plant.

(Grab, Back on control stick, SHFFL Bair, Reverse Grab, Down on control stick, Dsmash, Jump, Dair)

#13. Grab, Reverse Kick Out, SHFFL Double Kick, Reverse Grab, Flying Elbow, Sword Sweep, SHFFL Double Kick, Reverse Grab, Sword Sweep, SHFFL Double Kick etc.

(Grab, Back on control stick, SHFFL Bair, Reverse Grab, Down on control stick, Dsmash, SHFFL Bair, Reverse Grab, Dsmash, SHFFL Bair etc.)

Note: This is a spamming combo and is horribly cheap

#14. Slash, Counter Slash, Half Moon Swipe (repeat as desired) Jump, Stab Up (repeat as desired)

(A, A, Utilt, Jump, Uair)

Note: This only works if your opponent is close to you.

#15. Running Hack, SHFFL Double Kick, Sword Sweep, Sword Chop, SHFFL Spinning Sword, Boomerang, Jump, Hylian Kick.

(Dash A, SHFFL Bair, Dsmash, Ftilt, SHFFL Fair, Side – B, Jump Nair)

Note: If done correctly this will KO an opponent

#16. SHFFL Spinning Sword, Sword Sweep, Slash, Counter Slash, Sword Sweep, SHFFL Spinning Sword (repeat) Boomerang, Jump, Hylian Kick.

(SHFFL Fair, Dsmash, A, A, Dsmash, SHFFL Fair, Side – B, Jump, Nair)

Note: This is again a KO combo

#17. Half Moon Swipe, Sword Chop, SHFFL Spinning Sword, Boomerang, Jump, Sword Plant.
(Utilt, Ftilt, SHFFL Ftilt, Side – B, Jump, Dair)

#18. Sword Sweep, SHFFL Double Kick, Sword Chop, Running Hack, Jump, Up Stab (repeat)

(Dsmash, SHFFL Bair, Ftilt, Dash A, Jump, Uair)

#19. Bomb Throw, Jump, Double Kick, Reverse Grab, Use any above grab combo.

(Down – B, Throw forward, Jump, Bair, Reverse Grab)

Note: This has to be played as a mind game for it to work.

#20. Grab, Flying Elbow, Spin Attack

(Grab, Down on control stick, Up – B)

Lol what a great last combo :p Just kidding;

#20-B. SHFFL Spinning Sword, SHFFL Spinning Sword, SHFFL Double Kick, Reverse Grab, Sword Launch (Up) SHFFL Hylian Kick, Boomerang, SHFFL Spinning Sword, Pull out Bomb, Boomerang, Bomb throw, Sword Slice, Double Sword Slice, Pull out bomb, Bomb Throw (up) Short Hop, Sword Plant.

(SHFFL Fair, SHFFL Fair, SHFFL Bair, Reverse Grab, Up on control stick, SHFFL Nair, Side – B, SHFFL Fair, Down – B, Side – B, Throw Forward, Fsmash, Fsmash, Down – B, Throw Up, Short Hop, Dair.)
most of these combos don't work heres why! LOL

1. still works for the most part.

2. is situational at best, the grab can be spot dodged.

3. this just doesn't work anymore.

4. situational as well, that might work on a mid damaged fast faller or a low damage heavy. aside from that its so easy to get out of it.

5. did this ever work?

6. >_> do I even have to bother with this?

7. this may work but why?

8. this works.

9. this probably works although its probably easier to just nair instead of adding the bair.

10. this is highly situational. I can't even think of a way for this to really work except with bad DI.

11. this just doesn't work well. since its so easy to DI out of illusion stab. then the grab comes which may make the combo work if they don't jump out to nair you or whatever. doubt anyones going to fall for it twice.

12. reverse grab doesn't work anymore. spot dodging and DI just fails.

13. DI thats all.

14. this just won't work situational as well.

15. this may have work then, but no way it would work now. <_<

16. I could see this working, again its DI dependant though.

17. don't see this working on anyong intellegent.

18. ftilt is way to slow for combos, unless they're floatie and without a double jump.

19. another reverse grab combo, reverse grab doesn't work anymore.

20. this works on occasion though its not perfect.

20B. this doesn't work, I'm sure of it.

Yes, I'd have to agree with Aesir on this one. The last combo might work against opponents that don't DI, but it won't work as far as anything else.

Of course, being Aniki isn't easy. His continued success is pretty much because he reads minds. He has devilish mindgames, and an extreme projectile game. Unless you learn how to read minds, being a good player without wavedashing is going be hard. If you look at all the other pros, they wavedash. IMO, Aniki is almost one of a kind in his wavedashless play style.

Your combo list and move descriptions has greatly helped me develop my Link game. I'm usually a juggling Falco, but I'm starting to like Link better...

of course, there's always the need to AIRDODGE TOWARDS THE GROUND. (which means, tilt the control stick towards the ground and the direction you want to go in.) ;)

My only problem is that I either jump and air dodge in the air (which takes up alot of time), or I do a wavedash that looks smaller than usual...

What're some techniques in getting the short-hops better/quicker/more efficiently? I don't know whether to slide my thumb over it or tap it quickly...

First, perfect doing the wavedash smaller than usual. You want to be able to do that at anytime you want. When you can do around 6 of those in a row across FD, try learning how to do a perfect wavedash. A perfect wavedash is the *regular* wavedash that you see the pros do. First, for the regular, smaller, wavedash, you put your control stick in the little *south-east nook*, presuming the up nook is north. Gradually, start tilting your wavedashes more and more east, until you jump and airdodge to the side. That's the limit of the wavedash. Now, familiarize your fingers with the position just before you airdodge, and if you can pull this off consistently, you've got a perfect wavedash. I hope this helps. ^^

Great job with this Link guide, its great.
I read what to do against Fox/Falco, but I have a lot of trouble fighting my friend's Falco. He has a laser that stops my arrow/ bombs (unlike Fox). Also he keeps saying I "run", but I am so much slower that I need to get distance to at least throw a bomb to force (or try to force) him into a position that I can get a hit on him. Is there anything else additional that could help me, and whether this "running" is something that I should/should not be doing against Falco?

HDL's link guide is more accurate than this and better for the most part. This is old as dirt and should be unstickied IMO.

This must be an old guide, judging from the tier list.

Also your description of Bowser is laughable. Most of the "decent" moves you listed for him are moves no good Bowser would ever use outside of the perfect situation, you only listed about 2 of his actual decent moves, and all the situations you said Link would destroy Bowser in are situations any character would have an advantage over Bowser in; hence, a good Bowser wouldn't use those moves.

If you're going to try and say Link destroys Bowser, at least use situations that an actual Bowser player would be in, not situations a level 9 cpu Bowser would fall into.
