i want it mainly for nintendo wii. and probably xbox live.
i've never had an HD or had to use my component cables on my xbox so I dont know anything about how hd works. i dont need my output videos to be in hd at this point.

id like to spend less than 150 dollars or so but I dont have any idea how much these things run.
i wouldnt hav eto record directly to my computer. it seems like that would require more effort and better equipment. which my computer is pretty decent but im going to the minimum that is workable here

but if it worked out obv i would do it.
computer is amd phenom II x2 550
3.11 ghz 3.25 ram
video card is nvidia geforce 9800 GTX+

portability is optional. i dont own a laptop atm. its something i will look into in the future.

if you want HD recording, dollars go into 150 easily.
for component, a little lower. prob could find for 40-70
composite, 20-40 and the like.

if you want to maintain portability without buying a laptop, your easiest bet is probably to buy a dvd recorder.
