Are 3DS online tourneys a thing?

I've mainly just seen Wii U online tourneys, and I know its just way more convenient to hold on the Wii U but I was just wondering if the 3DS scene would be interested in possibly doing an online tourney. I would try to organize this myself but I do not have streaming/recording capabilities nor do my friends. Also, don't have a clue how to host a tourney myself. Figured I'd go here and see if the 3DS community already does this or would be interested in doing this. If I posted this in the wrong place, I apologize. I'm new to this site. Thanks for the time if you've made it this far! Lol

Yes, there are online 3DS tourneys. They are not as common as the Wii U ones but they do exist.
