back up dics help (custom iso)

I want to know if I can replace characters with existing characters have two marth slots for example.

lets say i what to replace mario with a marth clone for roy or just make him roy.
can i just replace the pac and pcs files or would i have to go through and rename all the bones and nodes ....

i couldn't find any guides and nothing came up in my search so sorry if this was asked.

There's really no way to do that AFAIK. Dantarion is working on something like this, but it's for Project: M and that will not come out anytime soon
Also, this doesn't really have anything to do with backup discs or isos.

So even if I change the files in the ISO and then burn it this won't work?
