well im bored at uni, so i got no other explanantion for doing this.
basically, what are the best of every attacks in the game? i havent played every character exclusively and its very surprising when i try yoshi and find his b-air for example is almost as **** as G&W's, and how peach's f-air comes out of nowhere and hits like ike. this isnt a make your character sort of style thing, im just trying to find out what is the best of every move, taking into consideration speed vs knockback, spammability, combo set up potential etc and all that.

I tried not to make it one sided, as in giving all the best tilts to snake and smashes to G&W since they are good, but not in every aspect

if another thread like this exists (for brawl... i see melee ones), lock/whatever. i searched but when the first 40 results are from today only... its gonna take a while lol

anyway, my thoughts with reasonings

a-a-a: Ike (cancelling the 3rd hit into tilts makes this a KO move)
ftilt: Snake (broken lol)
utilt: Snake (as above)
dtilt: Lucas (fast, causes tripping and sets up for smash combos)

f-air: Marth (no weaknesses whatsoever)
nair: ROB (as above)
uair: Zelda (its just never worth the risk approaching zelda from above)
dair: Dedede (outranges everything which huge knockback, alters momentum)
bair: G&W (yeah, we all know)

usmash: Fox (Quick, hyphen smashing this is far more practical, and effective than G&W's)
fsmash: Lucario (outranges everything, has priority over everything and is extremely strong when lucario is as low as 80%, anything higher it becomes murder)
dsmash: Link (fast, high range, near vertical knockback, possibly highest KO potential of all?)

grab: Olimar (huge, instant, lagless)
Pummel: DK (fast, 3%)
upthrow: Sonic (very strong and combos into upsmash + tilts directly)
bthrow: Ness (no competition here)
fthrow: Pikachu (Chain grab potential and good damage)
dthrow: Falco (as above)

neutral b: Lucario (Aura sphere has it all, mindgames, KO potential, spammable and has priority over everything)
side b: Kirby (Nothing surprised me in brawl more than this...)
down b: Pikachu (ultimate edgeguard)
up b: ROB (combines with his nair, hes too dangerous to try and gimp)

Final Smash: Sonic (anyone with a clue how to use it should have no trouble clearing the field from 0% in 14 seconds)

Entrance: Bowser (Too cool for words)

taunts are just too subjective to include.

so yeah, comment if you want on what you think the best of every attack is, i might update this if theres a consensus on what the best really is, but it has to start somewhere :p

I disagree
Its either Captain Falcon "Show me your moves!" for all around coolness
or Sonic "Your too slow!!!!" for spamability.
Your forgot Snake's Cardboard Box for sheer nostalgia and "Funny because it's true" factor.

For d-air, I'd go with Lucario's. It stops downward momentum, it's pretty spammable, and it can potentially kill.

IMO Pit's Neutral-b is the best (spam to hell)

Marth side-b (diminishing returns = non-existent if used well, can rack up damage easily and has decent knockback)

I think Lucario's fsmash is kind of slow, but I am not sure who I would put as the best.

...
a-a-a: Snake (Fast and kills)
ftilt: Snake (Broken)
Utilt: Snake (Just..broken)
Dtilt: Marth (poke poke poke poke)

Fair: Marth (seriously, does anyone have a better Fair?)
Nair: ROB
Uair: Zelda (Yeah...)
Dair: Falco for Spikes, Fox for set ups and Lucario for the awesomeness
Bair: Game & Watch

Usmash: Fox (Fast, decent range, kills stuff pretty quickly)
Fsmash: Marth (Tipper = everything dies at about 80%). Also 10 frame start up time!
Dsmash: Pikachu (A bit like Melee Peach)

Grab: Olimar (So long and lagless)
Pummel: DK
Uthrow: Sonic (...)
Bthrow: Ness (Duh!)
Fthrow: Pikachu (Chains)
Dthrow: Falco (Chains)

B: Falco's lasers, CF's Falcon Punch (seriously...)
Side B: Marth (4 frame start up, does more damage than a non tipped FSmash, and refreshes your other moves)
Down B: Fox (Shineshineshineshineshineshine)
Up B: Bowser (Up B out of shield), ROB (recovery), Marth (for killing)

Final Smash: Ganondorf (Huge, goes through walls, pretty much OHKOs)

Entrance: Marth (Yeah. Love the Warp Powder)

Best Taunt: Captain Falcon (Show me your moves!)

here's the quick list of the things I don't agree with. Also forgot Dash Attack, which belongs to Snake hands down.

D-Tilt - Power Suit Samus. Quick, great range, and KO-capability.

F-Air - Ness. Near Lagless, Multi-hit, great damage and combobility.
D-Air - Diddy Kong. Seriously, meteor spiking with this is about as easy to do as making popcorn

F-smash - Ike. Although it's a little slow off the bat, the sheer power and range of it is amazing.
D-Smash - Pikachu. really, do you need to ask why?

Neutral B - Falco. Once again, do you need to ask why?
Side B - Ike. Quick Draw is dumb... great recovery and kill power and speed
Down B - Marth. While pikachu's down b is greatly greatly annoying. Marth's counter is just too dumb.

that's all the differences of opinion I have :-P

Dont forget ice climbers CGs. I like to use them and i consider it combos, not broken.

-------------------
Standard Attacks

neutral (a+a+a): Snake (too strong)
f-tilt: Snake (same as above)
u-tilt: Snake (isn't it obvious)
d-tilt: Snake (ditto)
-------------------
Smash Attacks

f-smash: Wolf (fast and unpredictable at times)
u-smash: Peach (fast vertical killer and isn't very laggy)
d-smash: Wolf (fast and a nasty horizontal killer)
-------------------
Aerial Attacks

n-air: Luigi (takes out foes rather well)
f-air: Ganondorf (quite powerful for edge guards)
b-air: Snake (shouldn't be too surprising)
u-air: Snake (ditto)
d-air: Ganondorf (deadly and an effective Meteor Smash)
-------------------
Special Attacks

standard: Donkey Kong (gotta love that punch)
side: Charizard (strong spammer move)
up: Zelda (a great recovery move)
down: Wario (full power Wario Waft always means bad news)
-------------------
Final Smash: Ganondorf (goes through walls and usually KOs on small stages)
-------------------
Taunts

/\ taunt: Luigi (just plain funny)
<> taunt: Wolf (What's the matter, scared?)
\/ taunt: Ganondorf (funny how he just puts the sword away)

For Up+B... I'd say Meta Knight's. It's super fast, super strong and you can glide + attack after it.
Oh and all of you forgot z-Air :D This one has to go to Samus. It's just amazing.

By the way... ZSS D-Smash is awesome, too. Not every smash has to be a killing move :p
