This guy is awesome.

It's been wayyy too long since NC has had some OOS Melee competition (I think that the last time was Chaddd, SleepyK, and Cornel from GA in April lol). You would be welcomed with open arms into the great Catfish country.

I would absolutely love to play some of the best catfish in town, and I'm sure I can say the same for the great players of the tri-state area. You guys should set up a big juicy tournament to make the trip worth while for us. (since it is like 8 hours or something)

You should also check the Atlantic North Melee Circuit going on right now. Some big things will be happening in the near future up north of you. The first event is actually starting Nov. 1st in NJ. Conneticut is already planning on hold a tournament on Jan. 3rd which I believe is turning into a two day event. And Philly will be sure to pump out some good ones come early Dec.

I think our best bet if we are ever gonna make the trip down would be to make a trip during winter break (sometime in Jan.) Although a lot of plans are being made for that time already. Anyway, its good to see some kids are still keepin their melee games up. Some of these vids look real nasty.

The clash of ur best vs our best could be quite an occasion.

Lets have a really big Melee tourney in January, Kevin. GA, SC, SoVa, and apparently the Tri-State area (NY, NJ, PA) will all be there. Hell, FL can come too. Plus, we'll get to play the best game ever with so many awesome people.

@Jfox/DH: I don't organize tournies cuz I don't have a great venue, but because of all of the driving that people would do anyways, I could at least try to find a sweet venue for something as awesome as a tournament that you guys are describing. Very early January is probably best for me, but anytime in that month should be ok too.

@Atl North circuit: I'm not allowed to head up that far (many sad faces). Parent johns. If something was held in my area, Charlotte, Gboro, or Raleigh/Chapel Hill NC, then I could make it to that though.

Since you did bring it up, how did I look Jfox? I was nervous as anything vs LoZR, but no johns, I wanna know how I did!

I'd love to play everyone from NJ sometime, the more new smashers the better!


@DH: Shhhhhh, I'm trying to persuade them lol. Jubilee is self-inserting, it's implied when I make statements like that.

These comments are just on your falco. Sorry if I was overly critical...

Here's what I think of you as a player. You seem like you have a lot of potential to move up, but you definitely seem inexperienced. Your fast, or fast enough to be effective. Many people may call that tech skill, but I do see times where u mess up, which means that you're fast, but not a technical player. In other words, you can do things, but sometimes u mess up. So I would recommend that you play a smarter style then u do.

You play a very aggressive style, which is fine. But you need a more balanced style of offense and defense. It seems you haven't yet realized the beauty of lasers as a defensive option. You play too risky for a character that can be gimped so easily. You need to put pressure on your opponents to make the first move more often.

You also need to think more. Not just mindgames, but think "how can I cover as many options as possible" For example, your edgegaurding. Watch your match vs that sheik and notice what you do whenever he is offstage. Do you know how much landing lag she has on her up b? Take that ledge, and punish that landing lag son. Reik (a retired falco who was one of the best east coast falcos) once said edgeguarding is half the battle. Focus on it. Think about strategies, and cover options. Think about covering tech chases using lasers. (dair to laser) Edgeguard edgeguard edgeguard. I can't stress that more. Don't just jump out and dair, and hope that they hit into it. Have a strategy.

Create a recipe that is infaliable. From 0-50 I combo like this, then after that I will do this if he DI's this way, and this if he DI's that way, leaving him in a position where I can tech chase. Create a plan for edgegaurding. When fox/falco is off the ledge, I will drop down double laser to cover their forward B. If they Up b in that middle range, and I think they are gonna go downward towards the ledge, I will Fsmash. If I think they will go to a platform, I will meet them with a bair at the platform. If they go under, I'll dsmash. Grab game- If I think fox will DI away, I will bthrow. If he is gonna DI towards, I will dthrow. If I can't trick him into bad DI, I will uthrow and see if I can start a combo. W/e. Just think about this stuff.

Bottom line is you play a pretty textbook falco for today's age highly advanced gameplay. You need to play smarter, and safer. I play a pretty nasty falco, so I'm being pretty critical but only cuz I know the way good falco play looks like, and I know how to punish falcos that play like you. The people in my area know how to fight falco extremely well. So your definitely a soild player, but you could be nasty if you think about the holes in your game, and where u can improve.

Awesome critique Jfox! Thank you so much man! It definately gives me a clear picture of what to do when I see my new goals in print.

I think that the last part is what gets me emotionally. It lets me know that I'm not safe enough being at the level I'm at now, which encourages me to push myself even harder for the time when some serious competition comes by to test NC's skills.

I hope that I won't disappoint with my matches in the future!



@DH-Lol we'll see what happens. Nothing is certain yet.

@Jfox, yes I have seen his videos, but I think I'll study them very carefully now, especially when I have more of an idea of what to look for. Thanks for the links man.

It was some of my better playing, that's for sure Kirbykaze. LoZR is really smart though, with them sexy Catfish combos and all.

Can't argue with seasoned player advice, fo sho.

Well, since Big R plays against Drephen who is beastly like LoZR, then by the transitive property of Catfish and stuff, then I should definately think of Big R's advice as truth as well.

I hear lasers mess dat Fox guy up pretty well. Ima use some next time.
