BrawlBox Q&A and Help Thread

^ lulzy at the screen.

I've got a problem with BrawlBox. When I try to load a .wav file so I can convert it to BRSTM (Yes, I converted it with Audacity from mp3), the program freezes for a bit as if it was loading and then it starts working again, but the file doesn't load. It just stays blank. I don't get an error message, or anything. And yes, I'm clicking File->New->BRSTM Audio Stream. And if it helps, I have BrawlBox v0.60c, which I think is the latest.

Hey guys, i was hoping that someone can help me with this problem. When I change the wallpaper for the CSS, the colors of the wallpaper load that loads into the game become very distorted. The wallpaper will change colors when it wants, and it seems that the colors of the wallpaper would invert. I have tried different sizes for the wallpaper, but it still does not help. Does Anyone know how to fix this problem?

Newest BrawlBox is 0.63d.

didnt know where to post so im posting here - Is there any other method to make BRSTM's aside from the method DarkSamus77 uses?
Theres also the alternate method of Androu1's music tool which you can check from Vyse's guide probably linked on the front page of the music hub or on KC:MM.

Has brawl box removed that automatic volume normalizer feature for brstms?

Also I been trying to place stage portraits and I guess they're supposed to be in pf/menu2. I seem to have erased whatever was in that or simply don't have anything in pf/menu2. Eitherway I see what looks like the same thing in the pf/system/common5 though and was wondering what the purpose of that file was then? I placed the portraits in the common5 to test it out and the game would freeze at the stage select screen.

I've also read that there is a file size issue that could be causing the freeze so Idk if the common5 isn't a viable place for the portraits. The size dimensions for the pictures that I used were the same and I kinda used the default setting in the transfer process.

This sucks, i use Audacity to make the WAV, in the thread it says something about "Finding your loop points", i don't see any points at all, so i skip it and go onto BrawlBox, Click "New brstm Audio Stream", Choose my WAV, It comes up in a new window, but it's unplayable(Clicks it and it doesn't play, also, the music time says 00:00.00/00:00.00)
Wtf?

I've had that problem the 1st time I used it, lmao.

Make the .wav again from Audacity. If it still appears to be unplayable for BrawlBox, use DVDVideoSoft. It's an amazing program. There's tons of converters by using it, like the Youtube -> mp3/wav converter.

Got the brstm made, now what are the values for the individual songs?
I just want to replace the menu theme, so what's the value for any of them?
Or is there a chart?

Thanks, do i have to put ".wav" behind it?
Or is it good as just "X02?"

Hello everyone, I am new around here. It sure is a big forum, so if I posted this in the wrong topic, don't bash my noobness, please. I wasn't sure to make a new topic or not.

What I would like to know is how to remove the 2D appearance of the characters in Hanenbow. Why do I want to remove the 2D element? I don't like Hanenbow in general, so I replaced it with a certain stage edit. Bottom line: the new stage works just fine over Hanenbow, but the characters still look 2D in this 3D stage.

It's hard-coded into the game so the effect isn't going away

Hi I am new to Brawlbox and everything, and I need to know how to transfer the files onto the Wii. I heard you have to download it onto a SD Card and upload it onto the Wii. If that is true, can you tell me how?

You don't upload downloaded files to your Wii.

Hack method: Use a code to replace Hanenbow with the WWR and disable Sandbag. Then replace WWR with something. I think BigSharkZ uses this. Myself, I have several 2D stages, so I put those there.

Randomly, I can't rotate or pan when previewing models in Brawlbox. Has this happened to anybody before?

Zooming in/out works perfectly fine, however. And my Shift and Control buttons are not broken.

Edit: Fixed it by using the arrows, and then everything "unlocked." Weird.

Two questions:

1. Is it possible to change the format of a texture image (I4, I4, IA4, IA8, RGB565, RGB5A3, RGBA8, CI4, CI8, CI14X2, CMPR) in a Fit____##.pac/pcs or Fit____MotionEtc.pac without getting an error?

2. In Mario's FitMarioMotionEtc.pac, what does the "fire" icon do? I changed the red fire from red to bright neon blue, and Mario's fireballs nor his side smash were affected.

1.Maybe but you got a high chance of a texture glitch
2.Let me take a look at mario's pac and i'll tell you what the fireballs are
i think they might be controlled by a clr0 not too sure
Looked at it the texture should be working you did put it in the right place?

It's absolutely in the right place. The FitMarioMotionEtc.pac is in X:/private/wii/app/RSBE/pf/fighter/mario. I know it works, because I edited the cape in the same .pac and it works. The thing I'm editing is in FitMarioMotionEtc/FitMarioEtc/TextureData[0]/Textures(NW4R)/fire. I changed the fire from reddish orange to bright neon blue. The second TextureData[0] below this one is the cape, and my white spotted brown cape works fine.

question: why wont brawlbox let me save anymore? it just randomly decided like not letting me anymore. when i try to save it says "the process cannot access the file '_______' because it is being used by another process" with ____ being the file i'm trying to save. i've done everything i can think of, i moved the files around, i re-downloaded brawlbox, i tried older versions, i tried on other computers, i even reformatted my hacking computer and all of this still gives the same message. help please?

That's interesting
Maybe it's caused by the eff thing

I've only gotten that error before when i messed with brawlbox when saving
Try naming the file as something else and see if it works

After further inspection, I found that the texture actually is working...but not really. It's a slight green glow under the red fireball. Any idea how to change the color of the the fireball itself?

Not without looking at the file itself
Which texture did you replace though?

Question:

I'm working on a Piplup over Yoshi import and everything is fine minus two things.

1. Piplup can fully grab, pummel and throw opponents in all directions. However, he can't be grabbed without the game freezing. What's happening there?

2. Piplup can't grab any items without it freezing. I understand that you must have 2 to 3 more original bones in the model you import than the replaced character's first HaveN bone number. I've checked and Piplup has 2 more original bones. So why isn't that working?

EDIT- Or perhaps Piplup needed a few more original bones? It's a pity there isn't a model rebuilder.

Mmk, so I edited Noise, and there were no noticeable changes. Then I changed Noise's format to CMPR and there was still no noticeable change (The color of Noise was bright blue, there would be a noticeable change if it worked.) Any ideas?

I'm a pretty experienced texture hacker and I've had more or less the same problem with MK's Tornado (it stayed yellow even though I wanted it red)

Perhaps you can look around the net for an already edited Mario fireball or look in the texture files for Mario instead of his fitmotion pac.

Just in case it gets over looked.

Highfive, you're just using the in game Piplup model, right? if so, then:
1: try this, rename the current ThrowN to HipN and see if that works. the being grabbed gltich comes from not having a HipN in the same index as the replace character.
2: the item grab issue is because Piplup only has 1 more original bone than Yoshi's first HaveN which is causing the glitch there. you could put Piplup over Olimar instead and you shouldn't have the glitch anymore.

as for my problem, renaming the files didn't work. i suppose i should have mentioned that it's not just one file that's having the saving problem, it's everything i try to save through brawlbox. any other suggestions though?

Guess it's back to the drawing board. Gotta remove his pikmin and antenna glow though. Oh well.

EDIT- Thanks for that. I hope it works seeing as Piplup has nearly as many bones as Olimar does.

Just delete your version of brawlbox and get the (0.63D?) 0.36D (I think that's it) one. Mine's working just fine with no kinks so far.

Is it possible to import AnmClr's?
I'm... not sure. I don't even think it's possible to even get .CLR0s. Or maybe they are. I'm sorta new to hacking myself.

i have tried re-downloading brawlbox, but it keeps comming up with the same error. thats one of the first things i thought would help the problem, but no luck.

and the Pikmin would be easy to get rid of, just scale them to 0 for all their animations. but for the glowing ball, not entirely sure there. but if you do Olimar, his first HaveN is 19, so Piplup wont have the item grab glitch, but it may hold the items in a strange fashion, like with a foot or something. but at least it could grab items.

Tried it. Piplup grabs stuff and it floats right near his chest. It's doable.

And I can't edit his tag (the one that floats above his head) through PSA for some reason. Every time I do the game freezes before he can load in a match. It's right in the middle of his body. Sorta annoying.

The antenna glow is actually sorta cute. It's where his chest pearl thing is and it gives off a flow.

And are you sure you have Microsoft .Net Framework v3.5 SP1? That may be why. I believe the new version of Brawlbox requires it to function properly.

EDIT- How exactly do I get rid of the Pikmin? What file and what model data?

well, without the .net framework 3.5 whatever, brawlbox wont open, but i re-installed it for good measure, and it still gives the same error. i still find it weird that it's worked for months, and one day decides like it doesn't want to save anymore.

and for the Pikmin, all their stuff is in the FitPikmin00.pac/.pcs files. the first three model datas are for Olimar, but the rest are for the Pikmin. the easiest way to go about removing them is to open one of the Pikmin models in the model viewer, open the right hand tab, and all the Pikmin related animations are already loaded, since there all in the same file. there's 58 animations, but you only need to keyframe the first frame of each animation, i dont think the Pikmin change sizes. i would suggest doing it in the file you have Piplup, and use that file as the one you make the rest of the costumes out of.
