Veterans of the Legend of Zelda series will recognize this stage, an iconic location from The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. Veterans of the Smash series will also recognize it, since it's a returning stage from Brawl. It hasn't really changed.

Layout
The Bridge of Eldin consists of a single long bridge. It's flat, as bridges tend to be, extends all the way to the blast line on both sides, and lacks anything resembling a platform. It's basically Final Destination with walkoffs.

Players 1 and 2 start on either side of the center. Players 3 and 4 start between them. The Omega form has walled sides, but also features an unusual curved shape underneath the ledge that players can ride as they recover.

The Bridge of Eldin has a number of stage hazards, all tied to King Bulblin.

King Bulblin
Repeatedly throughout the fight, King Bulblin will make an appearance. This is signalled in advance by the sound of his horn from offscreen, followed by the bridge rumbling. The camera zooms out as he rides onstage to ensure he is seen. The direction of his travel is random, but players with surround sound setups or headphones may be able to determine it in advance by the direction the horn came from. (Difficult to conclusively test with Gamepad speakers.)

As King Bulblin rides along, he deals 15% damage to players that come in contact. The knockback tends to hit players behind him, but this is not consistent and sometimes players will be hit in front instead. Kill percent varies wildly depending on location and direction of knockback, but Mario dies from center stage at around 200%. Players can shield the impact without issue.

Once he passes the center of the stage, King Bulblin usually drops a bomb onto the bridge with a 3 second fuse. When it blows up, it destroys a segment of the bridge and deals 30% damage to players caught in the explosion with knockback that propels players directly away from the epicenter. Mario dies from this explosion at 60%. Rarely, he will simply ride along without dropping a bomb, and it is possible for a proactive player to prevent him from doing so at all. (See the "Revenge on King Bulblin" section below.) While the bridge is destroyed, the ledges left behind are grabbable. The explosion can be shielded, but can easily cause a shield break due to the large amount of damage. In such an event, the player comes down with a fatal case of "Missing Bridge" and falls to their death.

After 20 seconds, a Twilight Portal appears overhead, which the camera zooms out to keep in view. It proceeds to repair the bridge by reforming the missing piece, a process which takes an additional 5 seconds. Players inside the volume of the newly fixed piece take fixed upward knockback with no damage and land on the bridge safely. Players underneath the bridge at this time are trapped and fall to their death, as it is completely solid.

The timing of successive appearances by King Bulblin is inconsistent. He generally appears very shortly after the bridge reforms, but long waits can happen, especially at the beginning of the match before his first appearance. It is unknown if there is any pattern to the timing or when he does and doesn't drop a bomb.

The "Gigglypuff" glitch from Brawl, where Jigglypuff could use her Final Smash inside the bridge volume as it reformed to remain permanently large until respawn, no longer works.

Here is a collection of images to illustrate the cycle detailed above:

The Bridge of Eldin in its natural state.

King Bulblin as he rides along. Trivia: His mount is called Lord Bullbo, an oversized Bullbo.

The bomb dropped by King Bulblin.

The Bridge of Eldin with the middle section destroyed. The ledges are grabbable.

The Twilight Portal repairing the bridge. Trivia: In Twilight Princess, Midna fixed the bridge by teleporting the missing section back into place, which itself was teleported away instead of being blown up. It's unknown where the new sections keep coming from in Smash. Maybe she has a hidden stash of them in her palace or something.

Revenge on King Bulblin
Players can attack King Bulblin as he rides along. He cannot be defeated, but he does flinch and rear back when hit. While he is flinching, he does not damage players. If he his flinching when he would normally drop the bomb, he will not do so and the bridge will not be destroyed.

Sometimes, a regular Bulblin follows behind King Bulblin as he rides. It does not hurt players and normally perishes in the explosion from the bomb. However, players can also attack it, which makes it flinch and stop moving before continuing on. This has no impact on the match.

Interestingly, King Bulblin can be blocked by Link and Toon Link's shields, implying that the game considers him a projectile.

Summary
  • Completely flat. Seriously, Kansas has nothing on this.
  • King Bulblin rides across the stage, does 15% damage on contact and kills Mario from the center at 200%.
  • King Bulblin drops a bomb, which explodes for 30% damage and kills Mario at 60%.
  • Bomb destroys middle of bridge, leaves grabbable ledges behind.
  • Twilight Portal appears after 20 seconds to fix bridge, which takes another 5 seconds.
  • Players inside bridge section as it reforms are popped up with fixed knockback.
  • Players below bridge are trapped and die.
  • King Bulblin flinches when it, does not cause damage or drop bomb when flinching.
