Competition Rules

Competition format is Double Elimination.

• All sets with the exception of the below are best-of-3.
• Winners Finals, Losers Finals and Grand Finals are best-of-5.

Game Settings

• Mode: STOCK
• Stocks: 5
• Handicap: OFF
• Team Attack: ON
• Stage Select: ON
• Damage: 100%
• Item Switch: NONE
• All Characters Available

Stages

• The Stage List consists of Congo Jungle, Hyrule Castle and Dream Land.
• The first match of a set will always be played on Dreamland.
• Final destination can be played on in a set with gentlemen's rule (FD may be played on if agreed by both players)

Characters

• All characters are legal.
• Black DK (Right-C), Dark Samus (Down-C) and Dark Falcon (Right-C) are discouraged if Congo Jungle is the stage for visibility reasons. The opposing player may reset the match without penalty if they wish for a colour change. Taking or dealing any damage nullifies this right.
  Low Tiers are all characters in B tier and below: Yoshi, Donkey Kong, Jigglypuff, Ness, Luigi, Samus and Link.

Set Procedure

• Players select characters for first match.
• The first match is played on Dreamland.
• The loser of the previous match selects the next match's stage from the Stage List.
• The winner of the previous match selects their character.
• The loser of the previous match selects their character.
• The next match is played.
• Above steps are repeated if necessary.

This is to raise awareness, yes. Also, it took 8 hours at yestercades because we were only using 4 tvs. I don't expect near 36 entrants at this (although it would be nice), and we will have 5 or 6 setups. Should run fast as lightning.

This is the last time I'm going to change the event. The location will now be at Next Level Arcade in Brooklyn NY. Sorry for those that live in Manhattan that this would have been convenient for walking distance.

Let me try to clear up some of the confusion. MAGE Gaming was apparently closing down on April 14. I didn't know this, so I scheduled it for the 21st after I couldn't make it on the 6th. So now there is no date that suits me at MAGE prior to April 14th. So it will be held at Next Level. Now it's at a bigger venue, and it is only about 8 miles from MAGE Gaming anyway, not deep in Brooklyn. Hype.

There will probably be more coming to this than the 13 confirmed on Facebook (11 others are Maybes also). Not everybody uses Facebook and people can show up last minute.
We need to advertise more to local colleges and universities who aren't on the forums or Facebook group. Those places are gold mines!

i would love to expand on the scene at rutgers. there are dozens upon dozens of kids who play for fun in their dorms/houses but don't ever do anything competitive. if only we could open their EYES
