can someone explain me sonic up throw?

i noticed something weird with sonic upthrow
his spikes suddenly become longer for some reason and throw the oppent away
sonic never had this abilty in any sonic game

can someone explain me this?

Don't think that this thread belongs here.

But to answer your question, there's nothing to it. It's just a move they decided to give to him. A lot of characters get larger body parts when they attack in this game.
