What is Shark Week?

Shark Week is an annual television event that originally began on the Discovery Channel in 1987. It has since become a popular and highly anticipated week-long programming block dedicated to sharks. Shark Week typically takes place in the summer and consists of a series of special programs, documentaries, and feature films focused on sharks and their behavior.

Why does Shark Week need representation?

Over the years, Shark Week has gained significant popularity and has become a cultural phenomenon, attracting millions of viewers worldwide. It has helped raise awareness about the importance of shark conservation and dispel some of the misconceptions and fears associated with sharks. Shark Week continues to inspire awe and fascination for these apex predators while promoting education and conservation efforts. Shark Week has even been acknowledged by the newly formed WB Discovery in an earnings call last year as one of their power house franchises, along the likes of Batman, Harry Potter, and Game of Thrones. Discovery also hasn’t had a rep from their own original ips yet. A crossover could also help advertise both Shark Week and MultiVersus.

Who is Chompie Jr?

Chompie Jr is on of Shark Week’s most well known mascots. Chompie Jr is based on Shark Week’s Chompie (his canonical big brother), the giant shark used to decorate the Discovery building and fly around the world as a giant blimp during Shark Week. Around the time of Shark Week, Chompie Jr has been known to emerge at different areas across the world to celebrate the holiday with others. One time he volunteered to work at Southwest Airlines. It also appears that Chompie Jr has had some sort of past history with surfing. Besides this, not much is known about this mysterious creature.

How could Chompie Jr work?

Chompie Jr, may not have a lot of source material to pull from compared to all the characters currently in the roster, but I have a few ideas. I think the best idea for Chompie Jr would be to represent both the beach and sharks in his moveset for a potential Summer release. His moveset could incorporate stuff like beach balls or his surfboard. He could also use his marshal signals from his job at Southwest Airlines as batons to whack opponents. His ariel could have him launch his head up into the air, like a shark lunging out of the water for it’s prey (except for the fact that the costume can’t actually chew or swallow). Maybe Chompie Jr could even incorporate the Chompie blimp as well.
