I was finally able to record myself play, and I would like some constructive criticism. I've only been playing this game for about 7 maonths and I like to think that I've made some progress. These videos are from a small tournament I held at a local gaming center that I frequent.

BTW everytime you see me upsmash it's a complete accident. Everytime I upsmash with Marth I feel like punching myself in the face.

Anyway, any advice from some pros would realy help, thanx in advance :)

I'm not pro, but it seems as though you rely too much on your Fsmash as your kill move, even when the opponent was 120%+. Also, you should work on your spacing, especially with Fairs, which will lend itself to incorporating Dair as a kill move.

I'm not a very experienced smasher, but I think your most frequent reaction when u saw Sheik coming at u was to shield, and sometimes u shielded pretty early, which restricts your defensive options. You might not seem as safe when u don't shield, but if keep your opponent guessing, you're more likely to punish them and have more options to do so.

I also think u were too eager to use Fsmash as a random, sudden attack. It's not bad to use for this purpose because of its great priority, but its ending lag is long enough so u can be punished. I personally recommend using it to end combos or when you're sure it will hit. I don't mean to tell u to never use it in the way u have, but use it less often.

I agree with Kylo in improvong your spacing. U want to utilize Marth's long sword range as much as possible to decrease the chance of a counter attack, especially against high tier characters like Sheik. Sometimes backing up is a good option.

against sheik its good to keep her in the air, actually its great to keep her in the air especially if she forgets she only has 1 double jump.

also if you're gonna uair a sheik don't use a weak uair tipper that ****. >_>

Marth dittos are kinda lame.... In those i mainly up-throw to my air game. Cuz back throws and forward throws tend to stop working at high level play....

But vs sheik you need to do more stuff like Up-throw up tilit after up tilts chase them down with f-air. and D tilt on the side is always good getting quick jabs of the side like that always screws with people off the ledge

lol!!! i love how u dash danced menthol on ur 3rd stock in FoD. very funny. i think ur marth is at a good level as of now. still room for a bit of improvement. u have good spacing and timing and a pretty good understanding of marth.
and yes ur shiek kind of lost u that first match lol

I would love for you to elaborate on how his marth is good but still needs imporvement. Perhaps something a little more precise and less ambiguously vague?

Hmm, granted I only saw your Marth ditto, it seemed like all you did was spam NAir and FSmash and not enough FAir. I also saw a lot of attempted grabs that missed. All I can say is to FAir more and don't try to grab so much, it's very predictable after a while.

I remember those matches~
What hurt me the most was your D-tilt on the ledge.
Thats why I looked out for that in our rematch at FP!

I'm definitely looking forward to our next MM!
