On-topic-ish : where did you guys get the Emil model from? Did you extract it from a ToS2 iso?

That seems to give the impression of wanting the ideas made though. While it would be nice if they were, it is also likely to mean that discussions would be limited to whatever is deemed "reasonable" before people got annoyed at us.

As for your question, it is so much easier to rip models than to make them and conversion between platforms isn't easy so most hacks use models from other Wii games. It's a rather limiting factor but it makes the work a lot easier and more accurate.

A question Anlgc: Do you plan to make Emil use his true sword, which is the long sword, or leave him with his mythril sword? Sorry if I already asked this, but I didn't get precise answer so...

If the Emil/Ratatosk idea is being used, shouldn't Emil have the Long Sword and Ratatosk have the Mythril Sword?

Long Sword seems to be the sword used in cutscenes, and *SPOILERS*



Ratatosk wields the Mythril Sword when you fight him

I'm not sure. I rip it this model at the enemy folder. So I looked at it and It had the sword with it. But I'm not sure how to a attach it to the model unless someone knows how to do that. The only thing that I know that the Lloyd Project has it in the Fitwolf.pac. for the new swords.

yeah

they made the swords act like Articles that of which pop up in PSA all the time. and they are attached to the hands via HEXING

much like what i did with Clare.

@Judas: lol. I had that same idea (of Yuri and Flynn) but over Samus (and ZSS). I then thought of a Yuri only character which was alot easier. (Flynn was tough to think of)

Anyways...

I too would like to see the CSP and character portraits,
Around the 23 or 26th of march.

I don't know. It might get delayed for these issues that I have found. I HAVE to restart all the animations that I put in. X(
Because Fliptocat had fix the polygons and the bone tree that I fix. It destroyed the animations. Now the animations are acting like Falco and that manage to freeze in some animations.(I think thats how you fix it. Its a guess.) So I'm going to redo all of the animations and some I will need to help on like the running and the walking. It only stays in one place. I'm going to ask Fliptocat to fix this. He knows how to make it move forward. I only animate some animations that are not in the game.

EDIT: Never mind. I know how to fix the bone tree correct numbers. Like TransN: Bone ID- 3( (not 0). I will be able to fix the eyes, hips (Even though the grabbing polygon explosions are fix, it WILL give you a KO most of the time like they did for Lloyd.) So I'm working on it for a bit right now. I only fix the TransN part. But the HipN and the Eyeyellow will be a little later. Maybe this will stop from throwing you off the stage and maybe will fix freezes (10% sure about this).

Renaming the bones will not fix it. But the Bone ID Numbers does matter how it reads the game and especially for replacing a character that you want. Its crucial to do this or the game reads it differently that how it sets on the bone tree.

Can you send me the Emil files? I would like to help you. I managed one time to fix a TransN glitch, and to fix the HipN glitch too, for the Decus model I have. The only thing that wasn't fixed for Decus about the HipN glitch is that Decus had a part in the floor but I know how to fix it. I won't probably fix this now, but I will probably do it very soon. At least I can remove you the explosion it does when you're thrown.

Edit: Emil can now run or walk without problems. He already can be thrown without problem when I got the file, but I managed to fix the run and walk problem. I will try to fix other problems, and especially the item problem that you can't take without freezing. And the mushroom can be taken, because in fact they don't need to be hold by the character, not like the assist trophy, or beam sword.

Edit 2: Emil can now use his specials without freeze. I try to fix the item glitch, but it's a little difficult, as well as the shield glitch...

Edit 3: Emil can now grab ONLY heavy objects such as the blast box or the barrels.

Edit 4: Emil can now grab his opponent. He can also hit him, but if he does this, there is an explosion like if we had the bug that appears when he is thrown. And he can't throw. He can now use his shield though.

No, there are no animations. Excepted maybe the guard as Emil has one originally. All I did was to fix the glitches I could. Fliptocat has the files that I modified. But I couldn't fix the other glitches, no matter how I tried...

Oh, when you succeed to fix the texture glitch, I would be happy to know how to fix this!

And an other thing, how is your tutorial about fixing bone tree?

Not so good yet. Someone request Regal and his bone tree has a different style when I looked at it in BB 64.
And good job on this! Just send me the files anytime or now.

Progress for Emil is going much faster in the early stages than when Lloyd first came out....

Is there any possibility you could release another beta video showing your progress?

No one did. But my entire computer crash and got a very strong virus so I have reset the entire computer. I need the animations of Emil because the ones I have doesn't work any more. The animations are mess up due to the polygon fixing and entire bone tree. But at least I have all my hacks are on my SD card. :(

And please pm for the files that I have lost. (I got the model still, FitFalco, and some animations that were inserted.)

If it's just the bones being renamed you can go into the animation files and rename the bones in there as well to fix them.

The item hold glitch seems to be fixed, but it is strange, Emil, even if I used the references of his "free hand" his left hand, seems to hold the items just next to his hand that wields the sword...

And I wanted to say that even if the item hold glitch is fixed, that an item which normally can be thrown like a pokéball for example, can't be thrown, it freezes the game. I don't have this problem with heavy items, so I honestly don't know what the problem is...

Thing really strange about the items, I can't put the items on the left hand of Emil, his hand that doesn't wield any sword, it is really strange, it freezes each time! It would be idiot to have the item on his hand with the sword, and besides we can't even throw the items...

Read the first page and you'll probably know who he is replacing... I have to say that this replacement is a very bad choice, firstly and this only my opinion, because he is over Falco who I love as a character, even if some moves look like Fox's moves, I still love him, but the last thing and the most important one, is that it seems the item glitch is much more complicated than all other characters to fix, you can fix the item hold glitch, but not the throw part, which is a real problem...

I know there have been a lot of progress over Falco, so it would be very hard to do it on an other character, but if you take the decision to change the character, there is only one character that can match: Ike.

Why Ike? Because he is a right handed swordsman, like Emil. Normally, if we make a character over him, it is possible to put him over other characters as well. He has a sword as an article, which we should probably do for Emil too. And I took a look on his item glitch fix, it seems it is normal, which is not the case of Falco.

So there are two solutions, we change the character who Emil will be over, or we continue on Falco, but if we continue on Falco, go seek for help, because I'm pretty sure it would be much more difficult to work with him.

If the problem is the glitches to fix for Ike, fine, I will fix them, I will even if I can begin this immediately!

Ps: After that, the model has to work with Ike, I don't know if the model itself as it is now can work on Ike, so it can mean we will have to restart from the beginning...

Sorry for the double post but there is something that I was told to give you. And I prefer warning you that it is a very violent reaction but that I completely agree with.

I contacted a specialist of item glitch fixing, it will never be possible to make Emil hold the item in his left hand, you can do all what you want to make him hold the item in his left hand, it will always make freeze the game, as long as he is on Falco. So you need to take a decision, you can keep him on Falco, and have him take items in his head or on his sword which would be absolutely unacceptable and you will betray all people that want a full playable Emil without incoherences like this, and I am the first that would feel betrayed. Or you can move Emil on an other character, because the specialist said me that it is possible to fix the item glitch correctly if he is on someone other. I suggested Ike, because we would have been able to put Emil on someone other after that, but it seems it is much more difficult than what I thought. In that case, you should take an other character, like Ness for example, I think it won't be a problem if we take him for the item glitch to be fixed correctly, the characters forbidden are Fox, Falco, and Wolf who have the same problem of item glitch. And if you could avoid to take Kirby it would be good too because he is dedicated for Decus. So make your choice, and I hope that there will be some reactions this time!

The problem with Ike is that if I try using Emil model on him, the stage refuses to load... I don't know why but if someone knows the answer, he should express himself... It is too bad because I'm pretty sure the glitches, excepted the texture glitch, that I can fix them, and there will be a good file size limit by working on Ike.

And what is really weird is that the Decus model I have put on Ike works, it has glitches because I didn't fixed them of course, but the Emil model doesn't work on Ike now... The two models I have don't work, the most recent, and the oldest with the left hand not fixed if I recall correctly... SO it means that Anlgc will probably have to do all this again if we want him to work on Ike... It would be a good means in order to get the long sword though.

Anlgc, we can discuss about this via private message, Ike would be a great choice, and it doesn't bother me to fix the glitches on him.

Ps: And it freezes on Peach too, I'm afraid some things have been done to make Emil work exclusively on Falco, and this is probably why we can't make him work over someone other....

Emil was always a special case.

With Shadow's Model Swap code, any character that replaces Emil would always be in a T-stance in the overworld. You could put anyone over Marta, and they would run around as the avatar fine.

How many Bones does Emil have? if he has less bones than ike originally, he'll Crash. make sure he has atleast 1 more bone than Ike. then the stage shouldn't crash.

I don't know the exact number of bones of Emil, but what is sure is that he has more bones than all Brawl characters, excepted Rob. So it can't be the problem, especially with the fact that Falco and Ike have only 2 bones in difference.

Hey! We will do over IKE! Judas can't fix the Falco item glitch. Sorry. He finished Ike's already but unsure for Polygon Glitches. Did you do that Judas too?

You're completely mistaken Anlgc. I didn't fixed anything on Ike, because I can't make the model work over Ike, and any other character as I said before. The Emil model we have doesn't work at all with any other character, which is absolutely not normal because an imported character is able to work over all characters as long as the imported model has more bones than the character he replaces, you probably have done some things that doesn't allow Emil to be moved on an other character. So it means we will have to take a model of Emil and do all from the very beginning. I can get you a model, it is absolutely not a problem for me, but I can't fix the bone tree, I don't know how to do it. After that, I will be able to fix the glitches, and believe me, it will be much easier with Ike, as now I have more experience, and Ike's item glitch doesn't seem to have oddities like Falco.

No, he's saying we can't restart on Ike because the model won't work for some inexplicable reason but that restarting over him (or another character, which would still have that problem) would be the way forward if we could do it.
