Shaky decided to make his appearance and take our money. We mad.

Registration for each event will end promptly 15 min before the event starts.
12:00 PM = Doors open. Registration Begins.
01:00 PM = Sm4sh U Doubles Begins. That's right. Doubles is a go!

12:00 Midnight = Exit the venue. The owner is very strict about people underage being in this establishment, as they do serve alcoholic beverages.
Please be punctual at this tournament and play your matches when it is your turn to play them. I will NOT hesitate to disqualify you if you're twelve (12) minutes late.
Please be here on time. Please be here on time. Please be here on time.

Fees/Events:
Sm4sh U 1v1: $10
Sm4sh U 2v2: $10 per team ($5 per person)
No refunds! It messes up the pot amount.

Please bring Wii U's, a copy of Super Smash Brothers for Wii U and GCN Adapters, as we have only two or three setups that are guaranteed for this venue. If you don't want the TO's to have a rough time due to a lack of setups, then get it right and bring Adapters and Wii U's with Sm4sh!

RULES

[COLLAPSE="General Rules"]
  • Absolutely NO CUSSING in the restaurant, or the owner can throw you out.
  • 3 Stock.
  • 8 minute timer.
  • Items are set to "Off" and "None"
  • Tean attack is set to "On" (provided we do Doubles)
  • Matches are best of 3. Winners/Losers/Grand Finals are best of 5.
  • Controller port disputes will be resolved by Rock-Paper-Scissors or higher number with G&W's SideB.
  • First round stage will be determined by stage strike system, or a particular stage if agreed upon by both parties (Smashville is a popular game one stage).
  • No player may choose a stage they have already won on in that set unless agreed upon by both players.
  • In teams matches one team will get ports 1 and 4, while the other team gets ports 2 and 3.
  • Make sure you fix your controller and your tag before you start playing. If a match is to be restarted due to controller functions, it must be agreed upon by both parties.
  • Any action that can prevent the game from continuing (i.e., freezing, disappearing characters, game reset, etc.) will result in a forfeit of that match for the player that initiated the action.
  • [Time Limit] If the timer runs out, the winner of the game will be determined by the following criteria in this order: Stock and Percentage. If Stock is used to determine a winner, the highest number will win. If Percentage is used to determine a winner, the lowest number will win. If both Stock and Percentage are tied, Sudden Death won’t be used and a Tiebreaker Round will be played instead. In a Tiebreaker Round, stock will be set to 1, the timer will be set to 4 Minutes, and the same stage and characters must be used.
[/COLLAPSE]

[COLLAPSE="Specific Rules"]
  • Custom Specials are not legal. Miis are not legal.
  • No pausing a game without the other player's permission.
  • No use of an action that freezes a game, or otherwise disrupts standard gameplay.
  • Players may not intentionally manipulate a button, trigger, bumper, D-Pad, and/or joystick on a teammate’s controller while a game is in progress. Breaking this rule will result in a forfeit of the game.
  • [Stage Striking] 1. Players may request a blind pick of characters for the first game. Essentially, you tell a person/judge (without telling your opponent, lol) which character you're going to play as. After all players tell the judge their character, the judge will then have the players pick their characters simultaneously. If you can't remember, judge, then just write it down, lol.
    2. The player with the highest port (i.e. port 4) strikes first any stage off the list of starter stages, and the player with the lowest port strikes second the next two starter stages. In teams, the team with the highest port will strike first, and the team with the lowest port will strike second. The player/team with the highest port will strike the last stage of the remaining two starter stages.
    3. After the first game has been played, the winning player/team may announce up to three stages off the Starter/Counter-Pick Stage List to be banned for counterpicks of the set.
    4. The loser of the previous match announces the next match's stage from either the Starter Stage List or the Counter-Pick Stage List not currently banned.
    5. The winner of the previous match chooses his/her character.
    6. The loser of the previous match chooses his/her character.
    7. Repeat steps 3-6 for all proceeding games until the set is complete.
[/COLLAPSE]

[COLLAPSE="Other Rules"]
  • MikeHaze rule: No yelling or making abrupt noises at your opponent. This applies to EVERYONE, players and spectators. Simply talking to the players (and Exodia moments) are exempt.
  • Chibo's Video-for-the-masses rule: You cannot refuse to be recorded if you pay money to enter an event.
  • Razer's No Coaching rule: Spectators may NOT coach/give advice to the players while they are playing a tournament game. In between games of a set is ok. (Err, this is a subject of fierce debate; present your case and I might ban coaching entirely.)
  • The Kyle rule: No hypin' Mr. Doom in an insane/hilarious way during Mr. Doom's hype matches. It makes him goof up and not take the match seriously. No johns.
[/COLLAPSE]

Stages

Starter:
Battlefield
Final Destination(FD)/Omegas (Omega Levels are offered as less flashy and distracting alternatives to FD for those who hate how pornographic the scenery gets.)
Smashville
Town and City
Lylat Cruise

Counter-pick:
Castle Siege
Delfino Plaza
Halberd
Duck Hunt
Kongo Jungle 64
Big Battlefield (Doubles only)

Banning FD/Omegas constitutes as banning FD and all Omegas.

Banned: Everything else. YOU CANNOT PLAY ON ANY OTHER STAGE, unless agreed upon by both players/teams.

And that's all for the rules.

PAYOUTS

If < 10 (that means 2-9 players)
1st - 70%
2nd - 30%

<20 (10-19 players)
1st - 60%
2nd - 30%
3rd - 10%

<30
1st - 50%
2nd - 30%
3rd - 15%
4th - 5%

<40
1st - 45%
2nd - 24%
3rd - 14%
4th - 9%
5th - 5%
6th - 3% (or money back, whichever is greater)

<50
1st - 42%
2nd - 22%
3rd - 12%
4th - 9%
5th - 7%
6th - 4%
7th - 2% (or money back, whichever is greater)

50+
1st - 41%
2nd - 20%
3rd - 12%
4th - 9%
5th - 7%
6th - 5%
7th - 4%
8th - 2%

(If you tied for 5th or 7th place, then you will have to do a best 3 out of 5 to determine which place you get. On the Losers' side of the bracket, there will be two players who tie for 5th and 7th. If the other party member who tied in the same place as you shows up, then we'll figure something out.)

Payouts will be rounded and equalized in accordance to "fairness." If you have a question regarding what that means, speak with your TO.

Payout is subject to change if the attendance increases dramatically.

The plan is to keep this going as a monthly. Probably in April (don't hold your breath just yet, though) we'll incorporate Melee and PM. But for now, we are doing just Sm4sh U. You can bring any type of controller you wish (that is compatible with the Wii U) as long as you turn off your wireless controllers after each set you play, otherwise you will get DQ'd.

I certainly hope so. We're starting two hours earlier, so that should give us more breathing room to do doubles. Last time, with 8 setups and starting at around 3:45PM, we finished at around 10:30PM. I forgot to mention that setups were being taken away, and some didn't have everything unlocked, lol. That still left us about 1.5 hours to fool around. Essentially, we should have 3.5 hours (provided we have 8 setups--and 80 people show up again, heaven forbid) to do doubles.
