Tournament information
  • Entry into FIGHT CLUB is $10.
  • An extra $10 can be donated for auto entry into the grand prize bracket.
  • Each tournament has a prize pool fee of $5.
  • Registration will end at 5:45 PM on February 28, 2014. Tournaments will begin at 6 PM.
  • Each event needs at least 8 entrants to fire.
  • We will run doubles tournaments with interest.

Prize Support Information
  • Individual tournaments have a prize payout of 60%/30%/10%
  • Prize support will be scaled based on the number of entrants.
  • Grand prize bracket will be constructed from the winners of each event.
  • Grand prize title will be announced the day of the tournament.
  • Grand prize payout based on the number of entrants.
  • 32 registered players needed for the Arcade.

Yeah Mame is fine, I prefer the console version of UMK3 (SNES or Genesis or even Saturn) over the arcade or XBL version, but super turbo it'd be hard to find 3DO's for it lolol.

Just curious, I'd like to come and get bodied in some old FGS.

How late does the venue stay open? If there are that many tournaments, there needs to be a lot of set ups, especially if there is a time restrant. If there isn't a serious one then we might be bringing a lot of people from NE to this.

Game Geeks is independently run and we'll stay open as late as needed. No problem there. We're also trying to acquire as many set ups over the next month as possible but of course everything will run faster/smoother if everyone who can bring one does. We've been tossing around the idea of splitting the events into 2 days, Friday and Sat... Thoughts?

Also, on the NACLIOWA subforum on the tournament challonge, you do no have brawl listed, so that may be a hinderance to it's participation #'s. You have to be on the BLANKM sub to see it listed.

Just a heads up, it may be the same for SFA3 as well.

Thanks! We'll get it fixed. We've had a few different people make sign up brackets for games their interested in so the perms are kinda all over the place. Which reminds me: If there are games you'd like to see, and have the setups for, feel free to make a bracket and we'll post it here.

I don't just go around calling myself megarobman without already owning mm1-10, MMI-V, X-X6 (X4 for both Saturn and PS1). Zero1-4 and Mega Man Soccer.

X7-8 don't exist. Battlenetwork is lame. I don't own a DS so no starforce.

I used to own MML1/2TronBon and Rockman X4 and Mega Man 8 for the Saturn, but I was robbed and couldn't get those replaced.

And yes, speed run for CASH!

I don't want to bring anyone other than Devon who can beat me, lol :p I talked to the other PR'd smashers and maybe Yosh will come but I think JBM/Cue can't go and I haven't had a chance to ask Majik.

Haha, I don't know about free shipping, maybe freight shipping. ;) Or you can opt for the cash equivalent of the cabinet. Hope you guys all make it up here, looking forward to it!

Ok, here goes... We're less than a week away from the 1st Annual Iowa City Fight Club and we have a lot of events planned. With that in mind we will be starting some events before the advertised 6 PM. SMASH BROS DOUBLES WILL START AS EARLY AS 2 PM. (Details to follow) With most of our Friday being consumed with Smash Bros events we will be extending Fight Club to Saturday as well, with the Grand Prize tournament taking place Saturday night. We need 32 paid venue fees for the Shadow Dancer arcade grand prize, otherwise it will be a cash prize payout based on attendance. Attendees are encouraged to bring chairs, tvs, monitors, game consoles and PCs! The more the merrier.

PLEASE BRING YOUR OWN CONTROLLER/FIGHTSTICK. We have a small amount available to use but you should bring as much of your own equipment as possible! It will help us run tournaments quicker and more efficiently.

PLEASE COME EARLY IF YOU HAVE A SETUP! (Set-up = Tv/monitor, wii/gamecube/ps3/xbox360/PC, relevant game) We will be taking $5 off the venue fee for players who can bring a set up. PLEASE, show up early so that we can arrange everything and test before the event start.

PARKING IN IOWA CITY CAN BE HAZARDOUS! Please make sure that you take time and adequate precautions to either A) Park in a ramp B) Find and keep a meter paid or C) Find some sweet, sweet free parking. There are options but you should plan ahead so that it doesn't take you all day just to find parking.

COME AS EARLY AS 11:45 AM TO SET UP! WE WILL HAVE CASUALS AND REGISTRATION STARTING AT NOON. SOME EVENTS WILL FIRE BEFORE THE ADVERTISED 6 PM START... LIKE WAY BEFORE.

TENTATIVE SCHEDULE:

FRIDAY
11:45 AM: Open the doors.
NOON: Setup, Registration, Casuals
2 pm - 4:30 pm: Super Smash Bros. Melee Doubles ($5 per person)
4:30 pm - 6:45 pm: Project M Doubles ($5 per person)
7:00 pm - 9:30 pm: Super Smash Bros. Melee Singles ($5)
9:45 pm - 12:00 am: Project M Singles ($5)

Side events: Killer Instinct and Tekken Tag Tournament 2 ($5 each)

SATURDAY
12:00 pm - 4:00pm: Casuals, Money matches, Side events, maybe Brawl.
4:00 pm - 6:30 pm: Super Street Fighter 4 : Arcade Edition ($5)
6:30 pm - 9:00 pm: Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 ($5)
9:00 pm - 11:00 pm: The King of Fighters XIII ($5)
11:00 pm - 12:00 am: GRAND PRIZE FINALS

Side events: Super Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Street Fighter III: 3rd Strikeand Street Fighter Alpha 3

Once again: For side events we will run any event that we can get 8 or more sign-ups for! If you have a game that you really want to play - bring it with you! The best way to get people interested is to promote it yourself. Side events will be run with rolling sign-ups, meaning there won't be a definite timed start. We will fire side events when we have the people/equipment available.
