How do you ensure a wall jump tech with twin stick DI?

If you're using both sticks for DI, does holding Y cause a wall jump tech if you collide with the wall? Or are you better off mashing it?

Does anyone know how many frames you have to press a jump button before wall teching to get a wall tech jump?

You can hold Y during any tech on a wall and you'll do the wall jump tech.
