Hello! I just recently picked up Doc as my main (about a month or so ago) and I just want to get some advice on how to help improve him. I know theres a lot wrong with how I play (I don't wavedash for starters) but I'm attempting to improve. So I put together a few matches with my brother and any advice on how to improve would be helpful!

Match 1 (This was probably the best match for me. Aside from the self destruct :p.)

Match 2 (The Peach got a bit worse in my opinion, so that's why I won)

Match 3 (Pretty even)

So thats my Doc. What can I do to help me advance and become a better player?

I only watched the first two matches. You seem to have most of the basics down, which would be everything you learn in the in-game "How To Play" video. Dr. Mario without the wavedash is like a Ganondorf without L-canceling. You can't really initiate good shield pressure or any mindgames moving like that.

You should mix in more dash jumps. You'll be able to approach your opponents faster that way, giving them less time to defend your attacks. Your opponent really didn't bother to punish your attacks with any shield grabs. But realistically, most of your approaches could've been easily punished by simply shielding and then grabbing out of shield. You really need to practice against higher leveled players.

Now you should learn advance techniques:
I recommend that you take a look at the "Advanced How To Play" videos if you haven't already and start with wavedashing and L-canceling:

It takes some time to practice, but it's definitely worth learning. The wavedashing IMO is one of Doc's best tools in his entire moveset. No wavedashing means your opponent is just gonna have an accurate idea of where and when you're gonna move in and attack all of the time. This is one of those games where predictability gets punished really badly.

EDITED: My second paragraph had hella typos

Yeah, I've watched the AHTP videos multiple times,(I have L-Canceling down) and I CAN wavedash, just not yet in an actual match. I'm working my way to that. I've talked to another Doc Player I know and he gave me the same advice about incorporating wavedash. I'm attempting to find higher level players, but at the moment, my brother is all I got. Thanks for the help!
