Yeah, I was just thinking about this the other day. I think that they were trying to launch off the Wii's success. Wii 2 isn't as cool (though I'm not saying Wii U is all that cool), but Wii 2 would've gotten the point across better. It's certainly worked for PlayStation.Wii 2 would work too. Just so it is more clear that the console is new.
Calling it anything Next would incur the wrath of Apple. Steve Jobs invented NeXTSTEP which became OS X when it was bought out by Apple. And I think Apple would sue Nintendo for using Next because Steve Jobs.I think they should have stuck with Revolution...but as of right now I'd be ok with Wii 2/Wii 2.0 or Wii NXT meaning Next Gen.
