I really want to get that game... what's the combat system like? Is it turn-based or real-time hack n' slash kind of thing?

:248:
This, have been tempted to either snag this or Whit Knight Chronicles, for when I go and use my gamestop coupon for a free pre-owned game if i buy two pre own's

But I had my eye on both but can't decide which would be better

I heard White Knight isn't that great. If anything, it's okay. Part 2 already came out in Japan, so the US one is around the corner. I'd wait for that. I hear the story is kinda fail, and the battle system is a bit flawed. What bugs me most about games like these is when you can't attack an enemy from far via melee attack, but they can LOL. Also, what's up with the brawl FC system? Apparently, you can't add each other via PSN names.

@Nys Combat is very simple. It's "hack and slash". You can either dual wield, use ranged attacks, magic, or a standard sword and shield. While the elements are "hack and slash", you can't hack and slash through the game, because you will get punished. Most enemies can kill you in a few hits, and what sucks more is when you are fighting more then one. I'm not a fan of grinding in RPGs, but this game makes it pretty fun. You get "souls" from enemies which can be used to level up, repair equipment, upgrade, buy, etc. The more you level up, the more souls it takes. However, if you die while trying to gather souls, you can't die again while going back to your spot to retrieve your souls, otherwise they are lost forever.

So say I have 10,000 souls and I die. I respawn in the beginning, all enemies respawned, and I have to get back to the spot where I died without being killed. Otherwise, those 10,000 souls are gone.

For the most part, I've used a variety of weapons and shields, but depending on your build, you can be anything from a hardcore melee character to a mage.

What I like most about this game is that it encourages exploring the whole stage. Not because you want to find other items or traps (lulz), but because the game doesn't tell you which way to go. At the same time, if you don't want to die, you need to walk around with your shield up almost everywhere you go, because you never know what's around the corner. Oh, and you will be healing...A LOT.

@GP I can understand your hate for autosave, but it's actually a good thing to prevent people from trying to exploit a chance situation or being reckless. If anything, for this game at least, autosave makes me more aware of my surroundings then if I could save normally. Before I fight every boss, I always make sure I have enough healing items, the right weapons, armor, etc so I can observe the boss patterns without dying. If you die...well you have to tread all the way back.

Edit: So far, I would have to say the difficulty of the game is exaggerated. If you're prepared with a bunch of healing items, level up properly, and find the right weapons...most fights shouldn't be so bad. I'd rather play this then deal with getting Big Boss ranking on MGS4 lol.

Lol, when I had that PvP moment last night, I'm not gonna lie, I was like "Oh ****" when I ran into him. I didn't want to lose all the souls I had collected (hence why I was about to quit), but I was fortunate he killed himself by falling off LOL.

Ussi, DS is only for PS3 I think. You don't have that right?

combokings vanity rivals that of milesg2g, something i didnt think was possible XD
i always hate it when a game autosaves me into a spot where i die about a milisecond afterwards, i had that with cod4 once upon a time, dear lord the rage i had
milesg2g lives in my area =P
also, i heard that in demon souls another player can show up at whatever part you're at and try to kill you in PvP or something like that.

also, ike related question: how useful is ike's glide toss against diddy and ZSS?

Yep, that's how PvP works. Only requirement is that one person must be in human form (which means you haven't died or been revived after killing a boss) and the other in soul form (been killed and not revived). You get an alert telling you that someone has invaded your game. Then it's a matter of finding each other or playing hide n seek lol.

I don't use glide toss as much as I should. I prefer z-dropping.

We never did any Ike superlatives for 2010 o-o
We haven't done superlatives since 2008. Which is before I got here-- I started early 2009.

Abdul, where in Georgia is Lawrenceville?
Also, to answer your question honestly... not extremely. It's not even a glide toss. It's a dash attack cancel item toss (DACIT) meaning you need a running start to do it in the first place. I mainly use it in teams to get around or surprise someone when their attention isn't fully on me.

its in gwinnett county which is about 40 minutes away from atlanta
I can't say for certain which cardinal direction of georgia its in, its sort of in the middle.

a few weeks ago I looked up the DACIT and tried it, did it a few times
then deemed it as a decent mindgame if I use it at random but at the same time I can't incorporate it because the input is sort of weird.
i already forgot exactly how to do it =P

Gliding toss is good when you're mid ranged to farther away. It's a good mix up if you don't feel like air dthrowing it or air dropping it.

If RoK the Reaper was still playing, you'd have another Texas Ike.

-on a totally different subject that all posts above since I didn't get to know you Ikes that well :D-

I've been trying to jab mk out of his nado with my different characters, and it wasn't easy. I've tried with Ike too of course, even though I think everyone will agree that it's useless (any aerial>nado anyway in the situation where PSC would be useful), and it was really unreliable, I definitly suggest not trying it ever in a real match.

Also, taking MK to brinstar=good or bad idea? I usually go DF...

Brinstar.. if you love the stage, no one is stopping you. Its like RC to MK (people claimed it was pick your poison at one point) when it comes to sterotypes and CPs.

Brinstar isn't that bad.. Its stage positioning in the end. Just like RC.

Just be careful not to hit the blobs making your attacks more punishable unless its on purpose. Nair > fair a lot here. Do not nair/dair on the blobs as you'll hit them all and die.
